Q: it rained and water got in my carpet . it is humid/wet it smells bad how do i wash the carpet?
Rent a steam cleaner and purchase white vinegar. Sprinkle baking soda all over the humid wet carpet. let is soak into the carpet. Then using the steam cleaner and white vinegar start using the steam cleaner and try to soak up most all of the wetness. If you have a carpet padding under the carpet you will need to roll up the carpet and hang it over a dry area outside or in the garage to totally dry. As for the carpet padding you will need to try to suck out the wetness from that too and get it dry. Even using old towels will help. If you can also pull the padding up it will dry better too. When both the padding and carpet is dry. Sprinkle baking soda on the floor after it is cleaned and then lay the carpet padding back down. Sprinkle more baking soda down over the padding so this will help kill any bacteria and smells. Replace the carpet and vacuum the carpet and it should have taken care of the wet carpet and smells. However the carpet got wet it should be fixed that it will not happen again. Carpets and padding don't last long after so much water has set into the carpet and padding. That is why it should be thoroughly dry before putting them back down on the floor. Yes this sounds like a lot of work, and it is but the water needs to be completely out of the floor and padding, and carpeting to last as long as you can keep it in good condition. It will also help your floors to not mold.
Q: cat pissed on my NEW rug as you can tell i'm not happy. I hate to throw it away. That's 400.00 i hate to throw away. I used vinger and soap. pLus i shampooed it. WHat can i do
I just Googled Ashley area rug and noticed that they are made from nylon, one of the points being easy to clean. Can you ask the manufacturer or place you bought it? I'd try just straight white vinegar sponged on and then blotted. I'd then elevate or hang the rug so both sides can air until completely dry. Get a squirt bottle and use it keep the cat off the rug. Good luck.
Q: a lot of people have walked on my carpet and i was wondering if anybody knew how to make it look new?PLEASE HELPPPPP!:]
Send it to Laundry (some shop can wash carpet)
Q: I just refinished our hard wood floor and want to put down an area rug. Will the new woven backings hurt the finish?
I have rugs throught my home and they have never damaged my wood finish.
Q: I recently moved house and my real fix fur rug isn't large enough to cover the floor in my room, so my question if, if I go and kill some foxes tonight, how do I skin them and how do I attach the skins to the rug without making it obvious where i have sewn them on?Also, what shall I do with the remains, is fox edible?
Yes fox is edible... but save the brain. Tanning a hide is a skill that requires practice. I can tell you how but I suggest practicing on something you don't plan to have every guest at your house have a look at. Also some sewing skill would be needed to mend the two rugs together, and foxes aren't large animals so more than one will almost definitely be needed. To tan a hide: Skin the animal at the leg and stretch the skin out very taunt. You will need a tool for scraping ( something sharp but rounded enough not to tear the hide). While the hide is stretched, scrap of the epidermis of the skin with your tool (on the side without fur obviously). Its important to keep the hide wet during this process. Keep a bucket of water nearby to wet it down with. After the hide dries from anywhere from a day or a week (still stretched) untie it and cut it to the size you need it. Now rinse it in a mixture of a half - a whole gallon of water and the foxes own brains (yes, the brains). Rinse, wring it out, rinse again. Over and over and over until your tired. Next stretch the skin out some. Give it a tug with a partner to loosen it up. Then you have to smoke the skin with a dark smoke (most likely from old rotten wood). This will cause the white skin to tan (hence, tanning the hide). Tan the fir side as well but no where near as much as the inside of the skin. Once its a golden brown you can sew it onto your first rug. Whew lol. This is just the general jist of tanning a hide. There are many other methods that I don't know about. I learned how from Naked into the wilderness: Primitive Wilderness Living Survival Skills
Q: What covers the carpet?
Buy children's commonly used bubble desert floor, the kind of section of flowers, there are, you can easily remove, wash, and you can also according to the size of the floor.
Q: We purchased the recommended pad for use on carpeted areas. The problem is that the wrinkles are pronounced/high. This diminishes the attractiveness and safety of the new rug.The rug was tightly rolled for shipping. It was laid across a bed for 4-5 days allowing the edges to hang hoping to straighten and smooth out these wrinkles. Now that we have actually placed it on the carpeted area it is disappointing that the wrinkles remain. I've contacted the vendor and they have no advise or help thus far. Any ideas?
De wrinkling a rug, You can try to back roll against the wrinkle. You need to leave it rolled up for a few days. You can try to steam it out, but it could take awhile. The oriental rug cleaners have a method of stretching a rug to get the wrinkles out, you might contact a local cleaner and ask about this service. You maybe should return the rug for another, tell them it is defective.
Q: I painted my room lime green and purple last weekend, and I got a big splotch of purple on my white carpet, any ideas on how to get it out?Thank you x3
Not any more. It's dried.
Q: Procurement carpet needle notes
In addition to material, choose a carpet can also see patterns and pattern: 1, plain carpet, single color, and the general lack of frame decoration. More suitable for the use of modern style bedroom, giving a subtle and calm atmosphere of the room. 2, squandering carpet, to large flower decoration theme, and with a vine grass, causing the picture caused by lacking beginning and end. More suitable for the living room, such spacious and more complex space layout. 3, carpet array, mainly geometric design, and to a certain geometric network layout, color, shading, Yan Su can. Generally more suitable for more fashionable home environment, and at present, in the classical room collocation also gradually become new collocation trend. 4, classical carpets, from the composition point of view, a variety of cultural background of traditional carpet design, follow the central divergent composition principle. That is, often choose the geometric center of the carpet position as a key decorative pattern, but in the edge of the edge of the decorative edge, and some will also be in the center of the border between a decorative pattern. Because of its complicated patterns, rich colors and strong decoration, it is mostly used as a tapestry to decorate the wall.
Q: we are trying to remove the old carpets in my house. you see last year, are air conditioner broke and leaked fluid all over the hallway carpet, and now we're trying to remove them. how do you do it with out ruining the floor below.
Go to a corner and simply pull up the carpet. It is probably attached by a tack strip.....a strip of wood with slanting nails to hold the carpet. Remove all of the carpeting and then all of the padding underneath. A dust mask is a good idea while doing this. If you intend to send the carpet out with the trash, cut strips no larger than 4 feet and roll the strips up into tight tubes and tie with string. Last, remove the tack strip. The tack strip has been nailed down. A small nail every 6 inches or so. Remove the strip carefully. If you need to pry, use a piece of the padding or carpet under your pry bar so as not to dent the flooring. You will have some nail holes in the flooring from the tack strip, but this is close to the wall and so it won't be too noticeable. Know that you probably have water damage on the flooring from your leak and you may need to have the floors refinished. Good luck!
