Q: I am trying to learn about computer hardware in one of my IT classes, but some of this crap is confusing. My professor wants examples of each of these kinds of connectors:DIN, USB, FireWire, DB, RJ, and Audio I'm not really sure how to answer the question though. I mean I know about USB and firewire but thats about it, can anyone help me out? he wants 3 examples of each. Thanks so much to anyone who can help me.
DIN - PS2, old keyboard connector DB - RS-232, printer (parallel), game connector RJ - phone jack (handset, line, 6 pin), Ethernet Audio? Almost anything. Canon, PL, mini-PL, RCA, banana plug, pin plug, DIN, RJ-12 and RJ-14 are used for audio
Q: Does any one know a book or web-site that describes the pin-out for a nine pin connector preferably a round nine pin connector.
try this web page, it explains the RS232 protocol and the pins used with a DB9 (9 pins) connector. is easy to understand. microlink .uk/rs232.html
Q: I recently ordered a new radio for my car and I am going to have to crimp the wires from the new radio with those from my custom wiring harness. I am a little confused with how crimping works. I will be using insulated butt connects. When the two wires are pushed into the butt connector from the opposite sides do I crimp in the middle where the wires are touching? Or do I crimp both ends of the butt connector? I'm just wondering if the wires will be completely connected if I just crimp the ends of the butt connector. Please help!
Push the wires in from each end and Crimp both ends
Q: I want to upgrade my pc by buying a new motherboard, ram, processor and graphics card. However, i want to keep the existing case, hdd, and disc drives. However, they seem to have the old IDE connectors. Are there any new motherboards with IDE connectors, socket lga775 processor, and pci-e x16 connections? Thanks
I recently bought an ASUS motherboard that does have 1 IDE connector, but like the others have said, you can buy a conversion cable for SATA-to-IDE if you need more connections. LGA775 seems to be the norm right now for CPU's, including dual-core's(probably quad-cores too, but I don't use one, so I'm not sure), and most motherboards now have AT LEAST 1 PCI-E x16 slot, if not more, connections.
Q: I need a new set of connectors for a new motherboard in an old PC - I know I've seen them on other PCs as either 2-in-a-row or 3-in-a-row little black female connectors with labels on such as PWR, HD, etc, etc, so you know which is which. Now, I've searched good and hard on Google for things like f-panel connector, front-panel connector, PC motherboard connector, minature spade connector, etc, etc, etc But no matter what I try, I *JUST* must be getting that name wrong because I *JUST* can't find them! It is driving me nuts - I know what they are, I know how to use them, but I just down and can't find them because I don't know what they're called. What are they called????!!!!
You can find it in the second hand store selling old case or you can buy new case.
Q: I have been looking at some components to build my own desktop computer. I have found many motherboards that have everything I need but it doesn't tell me weather it has a connector for the power button on the Chassis. I assume that every motherboard has one of these and there is no need to list it. Is this correct? Thanks for any help! (I relies this is probably a really stupid questions but I just want to be sure before I spend money on computer stuff cause there is always that risk!)
There is no SPECIFIC connector that connects the motherboard to the power button. There is a big cable (usually many colored wires together) that has all the buttons in one. (power, reset, LED's) Look at your motherboards manual.
Q: Hello I have an upgraded TM p90 with a lot of internal upgrades anyway my 11.1 lipo died. So I need one the problem is one of the gun's upgrades is it uses Dean's wires. I have found plenty of places that sells lipo batteries but none that will sell them with dean's wires attached. And I have know idea how to install the dean's wires myself. So does anyone know a website that sell's 11.1 lipo's with dean's wires or at least has a service where they where do it for some extra money.
Batteries for airsoft guns have different polarity then RC car batteries. When you plug the battery in does the red wire on the charger match up with the red wire on the battery? My guess is that's your problem and you shouldn't try and charge them with the polarities switched.
Q: I bought a new Seiki HDTV recently and connected it to my Directv receiver via RCA connector (there is no HDMI input on the receiver for whatever reason) and it is in black and white and it's very pixel-y. My PS3 is connected to it with an HDMI cable and its picture is fine and colored and everything, so I figured it must be something wrong with the RCA connector. Anyone know what it could be?
Your PS3, TV, and HDMI cable are all HD. RCA is SD. The video will not be in HD so it will look grainy. If the picture is balck and white I think it's connected wrong. RCA is red, white, yellow and should match colors with the TV inputs
Q: I have a Ford F-250 Turbo Diesel. The connector the is connected to the Oil Supply has a gasket that has-for lack of better words-disintegrated. It has gotten oil seepage from the years of wear and tear. I am looking for the part or part name so that I can replace it. It seems fairly simple but if not please point me in the right direction. Thank-You
Go see you local Ford dealer parts dept they can show you parts diagrams to get the correct gasket. Have your VIN with you, sometimes they need it
Q: i just bought a new psu from tiger direct and hooked it all up come to find out that my mother board has a p4-mb connection slot but the power supply doesnt have any 4 pin connectors how can i solve this problem do i need a different psu?
Check your connectors CAREFULLY. There is probably a 8-pin connector that breaks apart (it just slides apart) to make (2) 4-pin connectors. It would be unusual to see a power supply that has an 8-pin connector but no 4-pin connector. The usual configuration is a 4+4 connector that you can slide apart if you need to.
