Q:i want to build one of these but i dont know what cable or connectors to use. i see i use a n female connector. then a cable with a male n and a femail sma to connect to my adapter. is there anyway i can use regular tv cable coax and crimp on ends? do i need to buy a special coax and then crimp on a n and sma end? or do i have to buy a cable already made? thansk for your help
No, TV cable coax and connectors are the wrong size and impedance. You have to use SMA connectors and appropriate cables or you'll most like create an antenna that performs worse than the original factory antenna. Search the web for the various pieces that you need or contact the person who came up with the plans to get a list of possible parts suppliers.
Q:Hello, I have been woundering on how to connect my usb pannel connector, the connector has one red wire one white wire one green wire and a black wire the black wire is prob for the ground wire. On the connector where I think its supposted to go says usb6 7 panel1
There is a connector for USB devices, it is normally 9 pins. for a two port header. Your manual for your motherboard typically tells which is designated for which and each wire should be labeled as well. Normally the cord is already set and you don't have to plug each one individually.
Q:I went to pull out the hard drive in my Satellite R15 laptop and I accidently pulled the ribbon part out that goes to the motherboard. I couldn't get the ribbon to slide back in and finally I figured out how to lift the bracket up with the pressure pin. While doingthis the pin broke off and now I had to place tape over ribbon cable for it to stay in place but now it won't read the hard drive to boot up?? What do I need to do?
Sounds like you have damaged more than the pin. Maybe you bent or misplaced some of the connecting tabs or pins inside the connector or the pins of the motherboard circuitry. Take the tape off and try moving the connector around by finger pressure.
Q:i have a 256mb graphics card i want to put in my pc, but i have only the 20 pin in the motherboard do i need the 24 pin to run the gc? the graphics card doesnt even have a fan just a heatsink
If it's a 20 pin power motherboard with the appropriate slots, then it should be fine. The 4 pin P4 separate power connector supplies the CPU power over a further two 12V wires, and the single 12V wire on the ATX motherboard power serves everything else. The ATX 2.0 specification extended the connector to 24 pin, carrying an additional 12V wire (much needed for future proofing) and rather unnecessary extra 5 3.3v wires. A fanless graphics card is unlikely to tax the available power
Q:I'm assembling a computer, and I noticed that the motherboard has a port for a ATX 12V 2x4 connector (the black-yellow one that goes by the CPU, and has 8 pins). The best I can come up with from the power supply is a 2x3 connector, which only fills 6 of the 8 pins, or just the standard 2x2, filling only 4 of the 8. Will it work with either of these alternate options? As for testing it, the worst thing that can happen is that the computer doesn't turn on from being underpowered and I need to get a new power supply, right? Am I at any risk of damaging anything?
There could be 2 potential connectors on your motherboard; one for the 4 / 8 pin, and the different for the optimum 20 + 4 pin. Your pc shouldn't even activate without them the two plugged in.
Q:I have a prudent way 90W 12-24V Notebook AC Adapter and the tip connector has gone bad. I have a hp pavilion dv6000. I feel like it would be stupid to buy another adapter if I can just buy the tip connector. Thanks in advance.
Try Radio Shack, Fry's Electronics in computer parts department of store or stop by any independent local computer repair shops and ask if the have a old power adapter you can buy the end off of.
Q:I want to connect my dvd player to this TV. The problem is that the TV only has the kind of screw in cable connection that comes from the wall. Now I have knowledge that the screw in cables are called coaxial cables.Does the black RCA port on the back of my dvd player marked coaxial have anything to do w/ the standard screw in RF coaxial? can i splice two ends together?
Bumfighter is absolutely correct. It looks about right, but it's for sound only (and digital sound at that) so you'll get nowhere hooking it up. Try a converter as advised and you should be fine. Good luck
Q:I was thinking to buy a Nintendo Wifi connector to go online for my Wii because I have no internet at my home what so ever. Will the Nintendo Wifi connector work?
Sorry, you need Internet connection for the Wi-Fi Connector to even work. Whether its DSL or Cable Internet, you need some type of Internet to connect to. You can try to have your Wii connect to a wireless router if there is one somewhere near your house.
Q:I have PCV-RS430G with 2GB RAMand recently bought this --eXtreme Power 600W - RP-600-PCARWhen I get this vid card belowHIS Radeon X1600 Pro IceQ / 512MB GDDR2 / AGP 8x / DVI / VGA / HDTV / Video CardNot sure about how to connect the Power Connectors correctly.I know one goes into the graphics card and to the power supply. The last one goes into the hard drive but how??
there is a special rate of voltage for your graphic card. some powersuppy come with the connect for that purpose. but u can buy a changer connector 12v for your card if the power supply have no graphic kad power connecter
Q:I notice that each 4 Pin Molex Connector (coming out of the power supply) has a second one attached (which is longer), can I plug in two separate components for each 4 Pin Molex Connector on that same wire?
Typically, yes. Usually the draw on any component that you would use to make those connections isn't enough to cause any problems with connecting to both on the same wire. Some larger PSUs have even more of those 4-pin connectors on a single peripheral cable than two. I have setups where I utilize as many as three. What I don't suggest, however, is that you connect all your components to one peripheral cable, and leave another one empty. Try to balance the load. I'm not going to go into details, as it involves the actual electrical design of typical PSUs, but just try to put as even as a load on as many cables as you can - it can save some headaches or the length of life of your PSU.
