Q: I understand that telephone splice connectors are designed to splice 2 or more phone lines. But can they be used to splice speaker wires? If so, would it make a good connection?: Yes, they would make and maintain a good connection, but don't expect to run a lot of power (over 30 watts). This could eventually cause the connection to fail. These connectors are fine for small signals, as they were designed for. If you must use connectors for speaker wires, and cannot come up with a solid piece, by all means, use yellow electrical wire nuts as they will provide more dependable service than a tiny 3M connector meant for solid # 28 AWG. Q: I purchased a new horn to install on my 1996 Honda Civic. The first step is to Cut the existing connector off the wire running to the horn and install a female blade connector to the wire. How do you install the connector on the wire? I see where the blade part plugs into the horn mechanism, but the other end is a flat O shape. Do I stick the wire through it and crimp it somehow or do I need to solder? (I hope not since I don't have a soldering gun.) Unfortunately the directions have no pictures of how the car wiring attaches to the connector :( Thanks for any info.: the o shape wire is the ground wire for the horn. you need a connector with the blade part on it and the other end is cylindrical so the wire goes in it and then crimp it on

Q: I need a little help with this. Here's a picture from my motherboard manual and the case connectors.: Hi Isaiah. If your motherboard has the same abbreviations that your connectors just match one to one, like INTEL motherboards which come with the useful diagram card and the well drawn identifications on the board of every plug. If this is not the case, at least identify the area of sound (which is your case) first and then match first those who are basically written in the motherboard, then match those that show more abbreviations even more than your connectors from the case, the ground cables are black (in some cases brown, in your box are black). If at least your motherboard painted area by area in different colors then your job is easier. But nevertheless you have to read patiently every abbrev. and match words to words and always focusing on the color at the same time. If you connect something wrong something using 5 volts could burn your motherboard unfailingly, specially the USB ports. Take care and Merry Christmas.

Q: From what I know, there are F-type connectors, BNC connectors, etc. Why can't there just be one kind of coaxial connector? What's the purpose of having a different kind of connector on the cable, if it does the same thing?: Oh, wouldn't it be nice? Some are cheaper to manufacture than others, some are simply more convenient than others, some are more specialized to do a certain task than others, some are compatible with other types of equipment. Plus, if we used RCA connectors for the cable/antenna connections, I'm sure there'd be a lot of people out there who would get this RF connection mixed up with the video inputs on their TV. As it is, I've seen cases of people mixing up composite and component, or even video and audio (my boss did that once, hehe)

Q: I just went to pet smart and bought him another tag with his name and my number. The problem in that the ring that connects it to his collar is too weak. I don't want to use a larger key-chain style connector, because that would hang too low. Q: I am installing a new cd player in my '86 Toyota Pickup. The cd player has smaller gauge wires 18-22 gauge that need to be connected to a wiring harness that has 16 gauge wires. I was going to use butt connectors but the handful that came with the install package only have connectors that fit only 18-22 OR 14-16 gauge wires. Do they make connectors that fit a larger gauge on one end (14-16) and a smaller gauge on the other (18-22)? What are they called?Thanks for the time.: There is NO SUCH THING as a connector that fits 16 gauge, but won't fit 18 gauge. You just have to crimp a little tighter on the 18 gauge side.

Q: I'm about to purchase some heat tape for my first ball python rack- where do you buy the metal connectors? I can't find any in local stores or on online cites that charge huge amounts of shipping. Where are some cheap places to buy this stuff???Also, as I don't want to spend 50 bucks on a soldering iron, is there anyway to attach the wires to the flexwatt with, say, electrical tape or something like that? Q: I went to pull out the hard drive in my Satellite R15 laptop and I accidently pulled the ribbon part out that goes to the motherboard. I couldn't get the ribbon to slide back in and finally I figured out how to lift the bracket up with the pressure pin. While doingthis the pin broke off and now I had to place tape over ribbon cable for it to stay in place but now it won't read the hard drive to boot up?? What do I need to do?: if its an inner difficult force then that's a IDE or SATA cable or archives cable. SATA is so plenty extra moderen and smaller. If that's exterior then that's merely a USB cable. the place that plugs into has a USB to IDE or USB to SATA (on extra moderen fashions). The IDE cable is a ribbon like cable frequently grayish in shade.
