Q:Hello,During my recent attempt to fix my other computer myself I managed to break 2 zero insertion force (ZIF) connectors. One holds the ribbon for my power button and the other for my LED board (play, fast forward, rewind, sound, quick play, dvd play)Now, I managed to get the ribbons to be held in place with duct tape, but I know that one bump and they will come loose.Where in the world can I find replacement zero insertion force (ZIF) connectors? Oh, and of course the 2 I broke are different sizes.Thank You,Tyler: once you're having all this hardship then it is not a ZIF connector ZIF stands for 0 Insertion tension . what have been you doing pulling connectors off the board interior the 1st place?

Q:Hi there, i am having a HUGE problem with my laptop. Im not sure exactly when it started.But i have a battery that i plug in that i also plug into my computer, and i use to be able to build up the battery, and use my computer without it, once it was charged. Well for some reason, it it totally messed up now.The battery icon on the bottom right has disseapered. and the WORST part, is if i move the cord connected to the computer it shuts off. I have lost alot of homework because of this. So, it no longer works as a battery, and my laptop wont work without it plugged in 24/7 and if i move it an inch it turns off my computer completely.I have went to safe mode, and tried maybe setting the laptop back about 6 months before the problem arose.that didnt work, ive tried last known configueration, and ive tried starting windows up manually. Nothing is working for me. And i would hate to have to bring it in to get it fixed, because thats always expensive. Anyone who can help?: It sounds like a battery issue, but you said that if you move the cord it shuts offthat could be a connection issue where the charging cable connects to the laptop. I would take it to a local shop that you could get an estimate from them to find out what the repair would cost. Also check on the web to make sure the laptop model you have do not have any recalls for battery issues.they have had a lot recently and sometimes that manufacturers replaced them for FREE!!

Q:I just got a new PSU today (My previous one was dead when I bought it). It came with an 8-pin EPS 12V connector and a 4-pin ATX 12V connector. My motherboard supports both. I have a Intel i7 930 core. I've heard that I could plug in either one and it would still boot up, but I've also heard that plugging in the wrong one would either fry the CPU or cause instability. Which one should I plug in?PSU: Antec EarthWatt 500W: If you have both, plug in the 8-pin EPS connector. It definitely won't hurt. It only makes a difference when you get into extreme overclocking (4+ GHz) and you start pulling ridiculous amounts of current through the CPU. The 130W Thermal Design Power of that processor isn't a maximum value, it's the normal, heatsink design level for running at stated clock speeds. Under extreme overclocking and overvolting, those silly processors can pull twice that much - assuming you have an extreme cooling system that keeps the cpu from burning up. At stock speeds, the 4 pin connector (rated for 150W @ 12V) is more than adequate.

By screwing it or attaching it with some type of adhesive?: I WOULD CUT OFF THE SPADE CONNECTOR AND REPLACE IT WITH A ROUND TERMINAL CONNECTOR,MAKE SURE BOTH CONTACT SURFACES ARE CLEAN AND FREE OF PAINT DRILL A HOLE AND USE A METAL SCREW TO SECURE THE CONNECTION. U CAN CHECK YOUR GROUND BUY CONNECTING A 12 VOLT TEST LAMP TO THE BATT POSITIVE AND PROBING THE WIRE ,THIS METHOD WILL INSURE THAT YOU HAVE A GOOD GROUND. TAKE SOME SILICON SEALER OR CAULK AND COAT YOUR TERMINAL TO PREVENT CORROSION AND KEEP IT SECURED, HOT MELT GLUE WORKS WELL OR YOU CAN USE A DAB OF PAINT.

Q:hi i have a wii and when i go to connect to the internet it says no access points were found but i can access my internet on the laptop i have i was wondering if the wii wifi connector make the signal strenght longer/bigger so i could access the signal that im not able to access now??? or does it just help u connest to ur rounter or something so once again what i need to know is i have internet on my laptop so if i am connected to my laptop internet and have the wii wifi card plugged in it will let me access the internet??? and if so i would be like 25 feet away or so will it put out a big enough signal for the wii to read it?.?: Yea it works more efficient with the wifi connector.

Q:I have an hp pavilion dv9000 laptop. It has no hard drive so I'm putting my hard drive in it from my Compaq presario CQ60 laptop in the pavilion. I believe I need a hard drive connector to do that. Does it matter what kind of connector I need? Also where can I buy them? I need to know places offline that sell them like walmart best buy etc.: 1. the dv9 takes 2.5'' SATA hard drives in a special caddy. 2. the CQ60 will have the same type of drive, but not the caddy. 3. without the caddy you are likely to damage the connectors. 4. you can get the caddy off e,bay - see link . 5. SATA drive connections are fairly delicate, so take care putting it together. 6. if the new drive has a larger capacity than the dv9 original the machine may possibly overheat. 7. good luck.
