- I don't have a single carpet or rug in my entire house. They are too hard to keep clean with pets and kids, and they collect dust and debris. It shouldn't hurt the resale value of your home, as long as you use high quality materials that would appeal to the masses. It is YOUR home now though, and my feeling has always been to do what you want in your own home. If you need to change it later, go ahead and throw down some carpet or have a carpet allowance when you sell.

Ask your retailer about the carpet you bought, say your not happy with how dirty it has got in so little time. Ask them about the warranty. If the carpet has worn too fast, whether you have a warranty or not you can request a check. Process for replacement of faulty carpet; 1) inform the retailer of your carpets fault 2) The retailer will organise a visit by themselves or the manufacturer representative 3) If after a check your carpet is deemed faulty you will be given a form to fill in, put the fault, and your name e.t.c. the retailer or manufacturer representative will fill in the technical details, such as the position of the fault e.t.c. 4)Depending on the extent of the fault, but the representative will normally diagnose whether or not the fault will receive a automatic replacement or whether more testing will be required. 3) Wait up to 3 weeks to receive your replacement carpet; no money will be required from you, the manufacturer will pay for the replacement and fitting.

- Well you do have a problem. A sarcastic answer would be to show the cat the business end of a 9mm but that probably wouldn't go over very well. You have a dominance issue. The younger cat is marking all the territory it can, at this point the bathroom rug, and will gradually begin moving to other places the older cat has been. Even if the older cat hasn't marked, the scent will be there and marking will probably happen. I don't think there is anything you can do about this other than remove one of the cats and I suggest the younger one. Second solution. Just in case it is just the odor of the rug, go to the pet store and ask for an enzyme based odor remover. There are many brands and if I name one it might not be available in your area but they are all essentially the same and work very well. You don't need a lot and it may be available in a spray bottle. Take the rug outside and spray it liberally on both sides, particularly where the cat has peed. I'd add a little water on those spots first. Brush the rug to work the deodorizer in and let it air. About a half hour later, do it again just to be safe. If the cat continues to mark it after that, the first solution applies.

- Q: I am having such a hard time finding a rug for my small studio apartment! I have white walls, an off-white/very light creme colored modern leather couch, a glass coffee table (smart coffee table-cb2) and a dark wood tv console. I just purchased a small dining table which is basically next to my tv console and it is also dark wood. I wanted to keep the entire room light but after an impulsive buy, I realize that the dining table definitely darked the room by a lot. Would using a white area rug clash with the off-white couch? - Defiantly steam clean them. If you are talking about the spray foam like you can get in a can and do it your self. You will accomplish cleaning them some. But what you actually end up doing is to make the carpet look better, but the foam is pressed into your carpet and left to dry (embedded) in your carpet. Not only does it leave residue in the carpet, it also caused dirt ,spills. etc to build up on your carpet quicker than it did before.

- Carpet is pretty cheap....$2-$3 per square foot installed but look for a carpet cleaner who is going is use only Hot Water! You need a restorative process. Make sure the carpet cleaner doesn't use soaps or surfactants - they cause the carpet to rapidly resoil...... Get it clean and get the stains out....if you elect to replace go to Loews or .Home Depot ...they have a carpet that uses a new technology called Puraesque.....it can be done, just make sure you get pros instead of a bunch of nerdowells!

- Try a litter box! no , seriously, if the cat is old or sick sometimes they do this for some reason. take it to the vet cause it could be a urinary problem. There is also some stuff called Boundary I got at the pet store. you spray it on what you want the cat to stay away from. it works. good luck
