- Q:about 2 weeks ago, i got a new longboard, a sector 9 player. I ride it around almost everyday. I noticed that the bearings are turning black. Does this mean i need to clean them? Also, they are abec 5 bearings. I want my longboard to ride fast and a long distance without having to push so much. Should i replace them with better ones? i heard bone reds r good.
- clean them every 2 weeks! Just oil them up with silocen spray (works for me) Churr
- Q:Sup guys, first new thread. Anyways,i have a 2004 Honda 400ex. I noticed the other day that when i get on it and rock from side to side (stationary with engine off) the axle stays still but the rest of the quad moves and clicks sort of. It moves up and down, but not very much from side to side. Probably 1/16 side to side. And about 1/4 to 1/2 up and down. I tried tightening the jam nut or whatever its called (the left hand thread. I dont know as tht i tightened it right). But that did nothing. My rotor also moves front and. Back. I was told i need carrier bearings. I hope not because its wednesday and i have. Planned riding trip this weekend. If it is bearings, can i just tighten the nut and ride, then replace it?
- it sounds like carrier bearings. keep your chain adjusted slightly tighter than usual. you can run it some with it that way. stay out of the mud! if you're going for a looong trail ride, you should replace them. also know that if you let them go too long it gets real expensive when you eat into that carrier housing!!! i've ridden many miles on bad bearings, you just have to watch them close and run a bit easier than normal. if at all possible change them before your ride, other wise go easy, have fun!!
- Q:im a begginer in skateboarding so i wanted to know if abec 5 bearings were good bearings and if not wich ones should i get tahnk u!!!
- Abec 5's are a good happy medium
- Q:This is a technical question depending small losses for example in clean room applications (every particle matters...)
- I assume you have tried shielded bearings, where the grease is contained inside covers that prevent its loss? Or possibly you do not have the funds to replace the bearings? Etc. I do not know the size of your pump/motor or whatever the bearing is on. I will tell you I have seen in an industrial setting on what I would call a small pump, they actually put a bag around the bearing housing to catch grease. Of course, the shaft ended at the housing so the bag did not have to come in contact with the rotating assembly. You could probably get more useful answers if you re-ask your question describing the size and physical configuration of the bearings and their housing.
- Q:two of my bearings are slightly dented. What can I do? I just bought new bearings and I had to change them because I bought new wheels. :?
- If your bearings are dented, there is nothing that can be done about it. Either suffer with the wiggling until the bearings fail, or replace them.
- Q:I heard using mineral spirits is a good way to clean bearings, but I also heard some can end up damaging them
- Usually we do not clean them you simply pack new grease into them forcing the old crap out
- Q:I need at least a link because i got really good bearings
- You don't need to ask the same question in three areas, two of which aren't appropriate. Are you asking how to take the bearings out of the wheel to replace them or how to open them up to clean or oil them? Unlike a couple of people have said, inline skate bearings are NOT sealed. Sealed bearings have way too much drag for inline skate or skateboard use. The method of removing from the wheel that one of them posted is just as wrong. Please clarify your question. If you want to remove them from the wheel, are the axles 6mm (1/4) or 8mm (5/16)? If you want to open them up, do the shields have a rubbery surface or metal surface? If they have a metal surface, are there a row of visible notches around the outside of the shield? Then I can tell you what you need.
- Q:The noise it is making is a high pitched sound that sounds like a squeaky wheel. Gets worse in 4x4.How do I change the bearings or do I have to take the truck to the shop. I can do most basic repairs and have access to most tools needed. Thanks
- As in the past mentioned, have a competant mechanic examine issues out and replace the undesirable one, if that's undesirable. I had a Ford pace that went a hundred sixty five,000 miles on the orginal bearings and that they have got been nonetheless in sturdy shape when I junked the vehicle. I additionally positioned 267,000 miles on a Caravan and returned, I never touched the front bearings. striking now my Topaz has over a hundred,000 miles with the orginal bearings, so i think of i might take it to somebody for nearer inspection. The consistent velocity joint on the driveshaft will make noise whilst that's worn and is maximum noticable whilst turning and accellerating. i assume an green man or woman ought to mistake CV noise for wheel bearing noise. I even have replaced various of those issues and whilst one breaks, you do no longer bypass everywhere. Like I mentioned, have a competant mechanic examine it out.
- Q:I don't even know if the bearings are broken. The wheel is not spinning well and it feels like the bearings could be broken. How do i check if the bearings are broken? If they are broken, then how do i fix them or do i have to get new ones? If i do need to get new ones, then how do i know which ones to get? Or, do i just need to get a new hub? Which one would be the easiest. new hub, or try to fix/replace the bearings. By the way the bike is a BMX bike. specifically a Fit Tech 1. Thanks!
- It depends on what is actually wrong, and how bad it is. If there is a clicking sound coming from the hub as you spin the wheel, it could be a broken bearing. The clicking is caused by the remaining ball bearings rolling over parts of the broken one. Most cycles have cup and cone wheel bearings, but some later top end ones could have a cartridge bearing. If one or more of the ball bearings has broken, and the wheel hasn't been used much since it broke, then a new set of bearings could be fitted. The hub will need to be stripped, cleaned, checked for wear, and if there is no damage, re - built with the new bearings. If the wheel has been used for some time with a broken bearing, then the bearing surfaces in the hub may damaged, and it will probably be cheaper to replace the wheel, rather than fit a new hub. If in doubt, take the wheel to a reputable cycle store, and ask them to look at it, they should be able to advise you on the best solution.
- Q:The serpentine belt in my car came off somehow and I found it in the driveway (this was a few days after it had been replaced) and my dad told me to drive my car to the automotive place without it and if it overheated just to pull over, let it cool, and then keep going. it did overheat and I pulled over, but called AAA and had them tow me, now the guy fixing my car told me my alternator bearings have failed, and that it wasn't like that when he did the belt before. Was this from the drive there? or from something else?
