- If the carpet is that much higher ( not uncommon for laminate) you should have built up the laminate before hand. Not much you can do now. That correct transition pc is a carpet bar made for laminate. DO NOT use any metal pc between the to as some people suggested. The metal will make noises as it rubs against the laminate. - I wash my bathroom rugs on the delicate cycle in cold water and then in the dryer on the lowest heat setting. If you're talking about a plastic shower curtain liner...I used to wash mine and hang it either back in the tub or outside on the line. It wasn't long before it had little cuts in it though, so I don't know if you should do that. Sometimes I just soak it in the tub in some bleach water, though I should add that my plastic curtain isn't colored.

Would dyeing it affect it?
- Whether dyeing would work depends on what fibre it's made of. If it's wool or cotton, it would dye quite well with ordinary dyes, though it might present a few difficulties since dyes usually call for being heated, and a lot of rinsing after. If it's a synthetic fibre, which it very likely is, it might not dye at all because synthetics don't absorb dye very well, if at all. If they do, they usually require processes that would be very difficult to achieve with a rug, such as heating the dye bath with the item in it. All in all, it's probably not worth even trying. Find a cheap black rug to buy.
