Q: I just dropped a candle on my light colored carpet and red candle wax is everywhere. Any ideas on how to remove it?
My husband owns a carpet cleaning company and I just asked him and he says to simply get a brown or white paper bag (grocery bag or lunch bag will work), Lay a single layer of this paper over top of the wax, get an iron and simply iron over the paper. The wax will transfer to the paper bag and remove itself from your carpeting. He cautions that you should not leave the iron on the paper too long. Once you apply the iron to the paper you will immediately see the wax attach itself to the paper. Good Luck!
Q: My pets have ruined my carpet. I need to rip it up and replace it, but that is way to expensive right now. I am just looking for a product I can buy at a drugstore, spray on the carpet, and vacuume off. Thank you!!
Sprinkle a couple of boxes of bicarb soda all over the carpets, paying particular attention to heavily stained areas. Leave for as long as you can then vacuum. After that get your carpets professionally cleaned or hire a steamer and do it yourself. Then, before you vacuum do the bicarb soda bit again every time. Voila! Clean smelling carpets!
Q: Which kind of carpet is good if it is cement floor and I do not want to decorate
The cheapest is polypropylene carpet.
Q: I have berber carpet in my living room and every couple of days i will see this white stuff just magically appear on the top of the carpet. I go to wipe it away and it seems to be nothing, like it just disappears, nothing left on the towel or on the rug like it just vanishes. It's in the same spot every time. Could something be growing under the carpet? If so, is it mold and how can I fix it?
It sounds like a powder carpet deodorizer was once used on the carpet and is now walking to the surface. These gimmick products are a real nuisance once they have been administered to the carpet. According to directions they are supposed to be vacuumed from the carpet, however, that is near impossible with out a mega ton beater bar and a super volcanic vacuum cleaner. Mold only grows in high humidity, needing a food source, such as extremely soiled carpet or upholstery, wood or paper. Berber carpet, if Olefin is a tough carpet to vacuum as the fibers run horizontal with the floor, soil, spills, etc, hide under neath the carpet strands. Place your hand on the counter top, spread your fingers, imagine a spill on top of your hand, The spill will migrate down between your fingers and position itself on the bottom of your fingers. That's how Olefin carpeting is made, tough to vacuum and tough to even professionally clean.
Q: Okay, a its getting colder ive started rugging my horse again, but theres one slight problem. He' terrified of them. It never happened before, but for the past couple of weeks the only way i can get a rug off him is by undoing the straps and letting him spook while holding onto the rug, and then putting it on i have to have very skilled aim and try to get it on while he is running in circles. This isnt happening because this is his first year of having a rug, he has had them for all 14 years of his life, its just ridiculous, and its not like the rug is different in any way at all. Its not my method of putting on/taking off the rug either, no one at my stable can do it without him spooking. Just wondering though, is there anyway i can desensitise him to this? Or find a better way to get the rugs on and off?
Let him sniff the rug first so he won't get so scared
Q: I just got my rug back from the dry cleaner and it looks dull and still smells like mice urine. Is there a product that would revive the colors?
Yes. Totally normal. No commercial cleaning solutions remove the urine. No, there is no way to revive the colors, either.
Q: Can someone tell me how to keep my area rug from shifting? I have it on regular carpet. Thanks.
You can do all of the above, OR, take a glue gun, flip the rug over, do some squiggles of hot glue on the back of the rug (alllll over the back) and let it dry (you didnt think I was gonna say glue it to the carpet, did you?) The squiggles will anchor it and it wont slip when you walk across it.
Q: I found this rug and it look really expensive, do you know how much it's worth?
I'd guess maybe $70-110? Idk I can't price things for crap!
Q: I know they make oxy cleaner for almost everything these days and they make oxy carpet cleaner but i was wondering seeing the powder oxy is cheaper then the the already made carpet cleaner can i use the tub of oxy (if i mix it with water) on the stains on my carpets just like you would use in your laundry will it do the samething or should i just buy the cleaner itself?
As a carpet cleaning pro, I've seen hundreds of damaged carpets, mostly Nylon or Polyester, where a laundry product permanently damage the carpet dyes. When inquiring as to what caused the damage, the number one culprit was Oxy Clean Laundry Detergent. About 6 years ago, I came across a couple who used this product to fine tune the spills and stains in their carpet, severly damaging the Nylon carpet in numerous areas. They did receive a settlement from the Oxy company at that time to help replace their carpet. Their ads made it sound like they had a miracle product available. If you have Olefin carpeting, a laundry detergent may not hurt these fibers, but why take a chance. Never use bleach on any spill or stain on furniture or carpeting. I've seen thousands of damaged carpets cause by the mis - use of this laundry product.
Q: hi ! i was doing my makeup and knocked over my BLUE powder eyeshadow and it went all over my white carpet. i vaccumed up what i could but its like in the carpet ! my mom will be home in a little while and i really need to get it out. i dont have shout out, and ive already tried carpet cleaner, and laundry detergent. any suggestions PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE lt; 33
Hopefully you aren't rubbing at it as this will further get the pigment into the carpet fibers. Try letting the carpet cleaner set on the stain for a little while and then blot it up with paper towels. If the color is transferring to the towels, it's working. Repeat until it is gone. If it still won't come up, tell your mom what happened when she gets home and explain you've tried cleaning and it won't work. She's a mom, so hopefully she'll know what to do. And of course, if you don't like honesty, you could always rearrange your room to cover the stain.
