- Q: how do you remove a moldy smell from carpet?
- It depends on how deep the mold is. If it's in the padding, then you will have to replace the carpet. However, there are a few things you can do: 1) If you have the same carpet in the closets, cut a hole in the carpet and cut a hole of the same size from the carpet in the closet. You won't notice it in the closet as much as you think. 2) If the padding IS modly as well, please consider replacing the carpet.

- Q: hi we bought a new black wool rug last week and since then my life has been taken over by little black hairs! they are all over the laminate floor, the furniture and our clothes. i have tried sweeping the rug but although i get quite a lot of hairs out of it, they just keep coming! my friend got a wool rug a year ago and although it has settled a bit she still has a similar problem. is there anything i can do to speed up the excess fluff loss or am i going to spend the rest of my time with a dustpan and brush in my hands?

Because silk, wool and synthetic fibers have different absorbance properties, they will react to dyes differently. There may also be stain-shields, like Scotch Guard, that need to be removed in order to properly treat the area.
- Q: Is one of the two supposed to be softer than the other? More durable? Easier to clean? I want a sisal type area rug. - Sisal rugs tend to be more durable. They are both natural fibers. I believe sisal wool rugs are what you're looking for. Sisal - the strength and durability of natural fibers, Wool - the soft underfoot feel. Sisal wool rugs have the best of both worlds - durable and soft. Jute is also soft, one of the softest natural fiber rugs. I guess the best way to compare the textured feel is to go into a rug shop and feel the difference of the materials.

- Carpet as wallcovering ?? It would look like a padded cell - the Safari Room at a mental institution ? ( Just kidding ) I would like to suggest a few alternatives. The first being trying to source out that print in a wallpaper. I am absolutely certain it exists somewhere, try the internet. Carpet on a wall is too heavy looking and, retro. Carpet in that pattern in particular, would be way too overbearing in Iarge amounts. I would rather see you work with a fabric in that pattern, on your walls. But treat it as a large, flat panel and hang it at the head of the bed on dowels. You could also hang it against the wall and tie it back at the head of the bed framing the headboard and centering an African art print in the middle. You could cut the fabric in a psuedo pelt shape, mount it on stiff board and hang it as a skin. Keep the carpet on the floor as a smaller matching area rug. Mix in faux zebra print cushions or throws. Paint your walls in rich sand and brown tones and consider black bedroom furniture. So, go ahead and use that print, but don't assault your senses with it in carpet on the walls. Mix it up in small quantities with similarly inspired prints and colours for a more refined, finished look. Have fun !
