- I seriously doubt that your floor joists are sized to accommodate the weight of a concrete floor. I'd look for an alternative.

- You can use regular plywood as a sub-floor and it is cheaper.

- What caused the carpet & pad to deteriorate? Was it from age, wear or possibly from water damage? Before doing any painting of the floor you may want to determine if there is any moisture present, and I mean any. Most of the big home improvement stores will have a moisture test kit that you can use to test. Look in the sections with the laminate, hardwood and tile flooring for the test kits. The floor needs to be dry before doing any painting in most cases. Check for moisture before you waste your time & money painting... You could stain the floor with a concrete stain and then score lines in the concrete with a concrete saw to make the floor resemble tile. This method is a lot of work but it can give some great results if you take your time doing the work & if you can come up with a pattern....***:D
- Q: i live in an apartment and the previous tenants i think smoked so therefore the floors are stained a yellowish colour. i was wondering how to get them white again. its a tile floor and the kitchen is that plastic roll floor. would comet work? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
- The floors are yellowed because of wax build up. Use one cup of vinegar and one cup of ammonia to one gallon of warm water. mop this mixture over the floor and allow it to sit for a few mins to loosen the wax, then use a scrub brush to finish removing the wax. Mop up and use clean water to rinse. It sounds harder than it is. Don't use comet or any other abrasive cleanser on linoleum floors. And the last thing I want to mention is that the linoleum could be worn out and in need of replacement. Hope this helps.

- Q: I have laminate "wood" flooring, there is a small, very small corner that has come up. I dont think it has gotten wet, I think that as the house settled (new house) it seperated a tinny bit. The area is about 1/4 inch, if that. Can I take some super glue and a heavy weight to secure it down for the time being?
- most laminate floors are floating floors, you do not give enough detail as to location of floor, type of sub floor or above or below grade installation. If you feel house has settled there would most likely be other indications, such as sticking doors, cracks in the walls, etc.

- Insufficient data. We could go on the assumption that your floor was built to code and give an answer, but we don't know. I've seen too much sub-standard work in brand new buildings to feel safe giving an opinion. If you decide to try it, install it with as much support as you can, spread the load the load evenly over as much of the floor as possible. And don't move your fish into it until you feel confident. - Q: My garage floor has settled and now an area of about 4' x 4' is about 1" lower than the rest of the floor. Can I use floor leveling compound on this? If so , what is the maximum depth for the compound? I will need it to be about 1" thick. Can I do this in one application or should I do it in 2 applications of 1/2" each? The part of the floor that settled will not have car traffic, just foot traffic, Thanks for your help
- You can do it in one aplication, it would be better. With a chissel make small dents on the existing floor in case it's cement or concreet and that would make the leveling compound better.
