Q:My carpet is very stained and is supposed to be tan but because i have three kids and a dog who spill everything they can on it, its now multi colored and i have tried almost every carpet cleaner there is to try and get it clean. Ive used every resolve product, oxyclean, baking soda, and a lot of white vinegar and nothing works! Ive searched in resolved questions about this and got a lot of mixed answers. Some said they did it and it worked great then others said it can make them even worse by making the glue in the carpet fibers come apart. We live in post housing and i already know we are going to have to have the carpet replaced when we leave but that's not for another year or two. Im so embarrassed by it that i don't even like to have our friends over. I would like to know if anybody has bleached their carpets to make them white and if they have did the fibers in the carpets unravel weeks or months later??? Or did everything go okay and the carpets look better???
Using bleach doesn't mean the carpet is going to turn white. Most likely you are going to get a pale weird orange color.
Q:Okay so for the past few years I've been making latch hook rugs. They take up too much space and I was wondering if there is a way to sell these? I don't really have people to sell them to, and I was wondering how one would go about getting rid of these projects while not throwing away all your cash. I am afraid to sell them on OKorder because someone might accidentally be deceived and think that it was an unfinished latch hook kit, and be surprised to find a completely finished rug at their doorstep. Any suggestions?
There okorder is another site where people sell completed handcrafts. If you have consignment shops in your area, they may be willing to sell the rugs for you. I have some that I've hung on the wall as art, and I have also used some as tops for chair cushions or throw pillows. Unfortunately, though, in general this is one of the class of craft projects where the unused kit often sells for more than the completed item. If selling doesn't work out, you may wish to restrict yourself to rug projects where you have a specific use or recipient in mind, or else put some of your energy into a less expensive craft like friendship bracelets, for instance. Good luck!
Q:Silly Putty dried on my carpet! How do I get it off???
I was able to get gum (and many other stains) out of my carpet using Valspar Goof Off. Miracle product.
Q:My dog peed on the rug in the bathroom, I know urine has ammonia in it, so would it be okay if I used bleach or would that create a deadly toxin. Can anybody help with this.
you could use bleach but that would just stain the rug. if the spot has dried, wet the spot slightly then pour some bicarbonate of soda down.leave for a while (over night or a few hrs) that will draw the smell out. brush the soda of once you've left it for a while. then clean it with a anti bac carpet cleaner and pat dry.if its small enough you could put it in the washing machine. if the smell is still lingering coffee is good for removing smells. put in down dry on dry fabrics leave again for a while then hover off,you might have to do this a few times, but it should work! hope that helps xxxx
Q:how do you get red stains off the carpet?
What are the red stains? If you could tell us, we may be of more help to you. If you are not exactly sure, then a guesstimate would be good. Wine? lipstick? juice? paint? etc
Q:ive melted the carpet by accident and my mums gonna kill me! is there anything i can do!?
this happened to me, i was playing with a lighter (yup, im dumb) and i dropped a burning piece of tissue on the floor and dumped a bunch of water on it and it went out but now there's a big burnt spot and its IN MY MOMS ROOM!!! i know im going to die because i was being stupid, so now im going to try and fix it
Q:I know the chairs should stay on the rug when pulled out.. But it's a pretty small space. I was thinking maybe no rug at all would look Better than one that's too small!?
Yeah, skip the rug. I have the same situation where I can't fit a rug for a space where the chairs need to be pulled out. I just have a couple of rugs in other parts of the room. Much easier to clean under the table and no stains on the rugs.
Q:how to clean the wax on the carpet?
cleaning with carpet special agent is ok
Q:Do most people prefer carpet over hardwood/vinyl/linoleum?Carpets collect dust hair mites and all things gross.. and you have to vacuum which costs money.. not to mention hard work and is loud and annoying. Also, many Americans wear shoes in their homes. So why would you want a flooring that collects the dirt on the bottom of your shoes? When has home carpeting become generalized standards for most homes? Anybody know?
Most homes don't have carpeting at the entrance door where alot of people take their shoes off. Carpeting has a pad underneath it, unless it's like mine where I have underfloor heating in my ground floor living room. Little kids like to play sit on the floor, so carpeting is warmer/softer for them in the winter months. Most bedrooms are carpeted for barefoot warmth. (You can't fall asleep if your feet are ice). Mopping shampooing is work, shampooing a carpet is done less frequent. I'd rather have baby tip over and bonk his head on carpet than on a tiled floor. Full room carpeting became popular about in the 60's. Under floor electric heating is catching on, I have it in my bathrooms built in '99. ele ^ (my delete isn't working)
Q:My rug is a short, runner rug in front of our outside doorway. The material is shaggy and I'm not sure if I can put in the washer...?
it should be okay to put in the washer, but i wouldnt put it into the dryer in case it might fray in the dryer. i would wash in cold water, then hang or lay out to dry.
