- Q: I need to clean my skateboard bearings but im not sure what type of liquid i should use to clean them?Acetone or Mineral/White spirits?
- No bro! NEVER! EVER! Use WD-40! Maybe just a 5 sec dip BUT NEVER USE WD 40 ON BEARINGS! It'll eat right through it! Use maybe acetone.. its less acid but is still a bit hard.. I usually clean mine by rubbing them with tissue, then put some oil on the tissue and slightly pass it throught.. not to get the liquid stuck in between..
- Q: Well, I was wondering: do all skateboard bearings have 2 sides? I looked at abec 7 or 8 bearings and they do not seem to have 2 sides? How do I know which side should i grease? Also, does abec bearings have a metal/rubber covering on one side? Thanks, if you can answer all these questions, i will give you best answer. Don't say, Get bone swiss bearings! They're better! - most of them have two sides. I believe that abec 7 bearings have two sides but i am not sure. google abec 7 bearings and that should give you the answer
- Q: recently went to tire discounters to get some new tires, and they told me both wheel bearings were bad and my tie rod end was bad? me being a diy'r on most car things i said ill fix em, but they refused an alignment til my problems were fixed, though the wheel bearings aren't making any noise yet, i figured i would change them once i had the extra money to pick up a press and the bearings and shims i may need to press it in, if i replace just the tie rod end will they be able to align my car?
- Alignments are very particular services. They require all components to be in order. Your mechanic is doing you a favor in suggesting to replace the parts instead of just doing it as well as possible'.. which usually means your pissing your money into the wind. Take the time needed to get your car fixed correctly, then take it in for a correct alignment.
- Q: okay...lemme explain...i have an experiment in my criminalistics class on improvised weaponry and I figured, hey, stupid...(that's me) this sounds like a great(dangerous and stupid,with potential for serious bodily harm) idea. - if you got them the same size as the barrel i imagine they could come out between 100 and 200 mph, probably very similar to an air rifle

- Reds are your best bet. Although i would recomend getting bones swiss bearing. They may be more expensive, but they are well worth it. With bones, abec doesn't matter. Abec was designed for bearings for the industrial use. Although abec 7s arw good, bones dont have abec because they dont need it. They are further designed to resist the hazards that skateboarding may have rather than most bearings.
- Q: So i recently got a new engine and tranny for my 1992 honda accord. (engine swap h22a) runs great. but i noticed it makes a loud humming noise after i release my foot off the pedal. This happened i THINK before i got the engine swap too. but that was like 2 years ago so i dont really remember. it was sitting in my driveway for about 2 years. my new mechanic says its the wheel bearings. The engine and tranny r fine and run and shift well but even if im going 30, or 70, when i take my foot off the pedal it goes....huummmmmm, going down. Humming decreasing. He heard it and said the front wheel bearings need to be replaced. What do you think? thanks.
- It may be something more serious like a rotor which if you drive it and it gives out it'll be a bad accident. So try not to drive it to much.
- Q: i have 4 wheels and when i spin 3 they sound fast and they make a roaring sound and they spin for at least 40 seconds but when i spin the last wheel it makes no sounds and it spins for atleast 20 seconds, and when i ride on my skateboard it makes a weird sound

- Q: can i make my own ball bearings for hubs, bottom bracket, etc. from a ceramic mug or the like? if its possible, what tools do i need? can i get it done at a machine shop? i would only do this if its cheaper than buying them pre-made, which in case you didnt know, can cost several hundred dollars for a full set.
- Yes you can make your own ball bearings... but there's a reason they're mass produced. The machinery involved is expensive, but once set up they're incredibly easy to mass produce... So, to be frank - you're probably better off spending the couple of hundred for a set. Odds on, the cost of getting them made for you will be in the thousands rather than in the hundreds... Just my .01 -dh
- Q: Im getting bones reds bearings for christmas and i would like to know the kind of difference i will see with them compared to the stock bearings that came with my longboard. Also, should i be worried about lubricating them or will they be fine without it?
