Q: My sister is very much into longboarding and has 4 boards, when I asked why one of them has no wheels she told me it was because she had no bearings and she needed new ones. So I want to get her some for Christmas. My question is what are bearings? Is it one size fit all, and what are the major differences if any? Also are there any department stores that may sell them?
So if you look at any of her other boards you will see in the wheels there is a metal ring that is a bearing. A bearing allows the wheels to spin. One size fits all and differences are the rating also you need 8 bearings for 4 wheels -Ratings are like ABEC, ABEC 7 bearings are more popular. I recommend 7 lower numbers are slower and I hear bad things about anything higher, although Bones Bearings(a brand) has no scale ,but trust me these are some of the best bearings you will find, I ride them and many people as well ride them. Any skate shop would sell them. Probably not department stores. I recommend Bones Reds About $18 Bones Super Reds About $25 And any lucky ABEC7 Bearings Although I HIGHLY recommend the bones reds or super reds! Another thing you could get is bearing lube..it speeds them up
Q: Car was making grinding noise while moving. Replaced both wheel bearings and the noise went away. Drove car for 2 days then suddenly on the highway the noise comes back. I was told I toasted the bearings because I didn't use the specific torque setting on the hub nut. Does anyone know the proper settings and procedure? Could it be something else?
I would recommend that you get a chilton or haynes manual from a parts store. They will have a detailed proceedure for exactly how to do this. It may be that you failed to grease pack the bearings correctly.
Q: I need to know how to change my front wheel bearings on my 1996 honda passport 4 wheel drive
A 1994 honda has a press in style bearing you will need a press or you can take off the steering knuckle and take it to a good automotive machine shop and they can press them in for you .
Q: is it cheaper to fix it or replace?
It's cheaper just to replace the pedals you can get them for $4 to $20 on line or at a bike shop.
Q: im trying to buy speed skates not roller blades any suggestions i don't want any skates over $150

Q: does anybody know what the best liquid to use for cleaning bearings?

Q: Can I change the camshaft in my small block chevy 350 without changing the cam bearings? The motor is appears fairly fresh.
I know that there is no way to plasti-gauge the bearings, but do you really want to take that chance? Removal of the old bearings and installing the new ones will take about an hour with the correct tool. Isn't that time well spent to protect your investment? I have put a cam in with out replacing the bearings, but I was selling the car and was trying to cut costs, my bad. It's your decision.
Q: I bought a bike from a guy it's a 79 with a broken chain and he said he would have to do a conversion because he couldn't find the original chain. Well after that I went to ride it home and the rear wheel started wobbling back and forth, the bearings had gone out but the guy said he rode it for like 30 miles that morning to test out the new chain. I'm about to put new bearings on it but I was wondering if it's a possibility that the new chain threw the bearings off, etc. it's a 32 year old bike and everything that went wrong with it was origianl with only 17k miles
I think the seller has been buttering your bread a little.
