Q: I am building my own longboard and i would like to go fast so what bearings shuld i go for and if you have any suggestions for wheels too that would be great.
ABEC rating doesn't mean anything to skateboards. Take your board and drop it from chest height to the ground, now your bearings are rated far less than ABEC1. Just make sure they're clean and lubed and there'll be no difference in speed between $2 no-name bearings and $50 ceramics. Grab some VXB bearings. They're cheap and good. Instead of paying $45 for ABEC 9s, spend $45 and get 100 bearings (12 sets + 4 extra bearings), or spend $25 and get some with built-in spacers (makes sliding a lot smoother, unless you're using precision spacers in your normal bearings). As for wheels (which have a much larger effect on speed than bearings btw), 80a Retro ZigZags are some of the best all-around wheels. Very fast, grippy and smooth rolling. Other wheels to check out are 69mm/70mm 80a/82a Sector 9 Race Formulas, 80a or 83a Orangatang 4Prez, and Earthwing Road Rages or Smokers.
Q: The bearings in the back rim of my 26in bicycle busted while I was riding, throwing my from my bike(ouch). How much would it cost to buy new ones ( it's just on one side, the other is fine ) and have it put in?
Bicycle Bearing Replacement
Q: I have two land features which have line-of-sight to each other but are separated by several miles. It's very easy for me to get to one of them, and very difficult to get to the other one. I want to plot both on a map. With a good compass it would be easy, just stand at the first one and shoot a bearing to the second, but I don't have a good compass (or any compass at all). is there some other way to find bearings within a couple degrees of accuracy with minimal equipment?Things I do have:- Plenty of time on my hands- A good knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, etc, and a graphing calculator.- Google Earth- Sticks, stones, paper, cardboard, ruler, string, etc.......
Push a small stick into the soil. In the morning, mark the ground where the top of the shadow is. Do the same in the evening - the line between your 2 marks is East-West. Easy to then divide the angles to find your bearings... Ash D - where on earth did you come up with that bit about rivers?? Rivers in the North running from South to North: Mackenzie and St. Lawrence (both in Canada) ALL major rivers in Germany except the Danube which flows West to East Seine (France) All major rivers in Siberia Nile!! Rivers in the South running North to South: All major rivers in Argentina and Uruguay Probably plenty more....
Q: I need to clean my skateboard bearings but im not sure what type of liquid i should use to clean them?Acetone or Mineral/White spirits?
WD40! Get a can and a small dish / bowl... Fill the bowl up 3/4 full with this WD40 and let the bearing soak in it over night. The next morning you can pull them out and wipe them down... Finally just grease the bearings and put them back in.
Q: what will happen?....will they go faster?
no they wont they will be well oiled that's all and it wont stick to them long it's to thin
Q: Hey, ive been skating for a couple weeks and i could do some basic tricks. Im looking into buying a Blank Mini Logo Superlight. I was woondering what trucks, bearings, and wheels are the best for a begginer thats not totally new? Thanks

Q: Hey im gettin a skateboard soon(prbly armour light w/ royal trucks).it comes wit generic bearings...im just wonderin if its worth it to get the reds for like $25 CND.im already payin like $170 for it so if its not a big deal id prefer to not get them...its kinda dumb but idk what the **** bearings even do....so yaa is it worth it
The bearings that come with it will be good enough. I wouldn't recommend getting Bones Reds unless your board is so slow once you get it. Well, I wouldn't recommend Bones Reds period. HKD abec5 bearings are the same price, and they last much longer without maintenence in my experiences.
Q: in a bmx bike and how can you know that it is sealed or unsealed?
sealed bearings are encased and unsealed are caged or loose ball bearings. if you can see the actual ballbearings they arent seal. if they are enclosed they are sealed.
Q: i just purchased a boat with a tandem axel trailor. the left rear tire on the way home after about an hour on the road heated up to the point grease was oozing out all over the rim and the hub was to hot to even touch. i tore the bearings out today and was wondering if it was indeed the bearings causing this to heat up or if there is something else i need to do and if it was the bearings what i need to do and how i need yo pack the bearings back in and get this to end the problems. the trailor has trailor brakes but i do not have the trailor hook up in my truck could this have caused this and if so how i could disable the trailor brakes to keep them from catching. thank you for all help
If the heat was caused by the bearings, they should be slightly discolored. On my tandem axle car hauler, I installed grease caps with zerk fittings on them. Before each long trip, I get out the grease gun and give each about 15 pumps. Since yours gets exposed to water, I would pull all and repack, looking for signs of corrosion, pitting or rust, and discoloration. Replace as necessary with new seals. Get the greasable caps.
Q: I had found out bones reds are one of the most best bearings for the money, and lots of mates have them so I bought some bones red's from Trademe (the New Zealand version of ebay) and they were real and all. as soon as I got them I rode them all around. but after about a week they were worse than my abec 3's. So I changed Back to them. While I was at the skate park People were saying that bones reds just need wearing into. so I cleaned them by soaking them in turps then putting speed cream on them. I have been skating heaps this month. but still not beta...???So any advice or help of what im doing wrong would be appreciated
Check to make the shields aren't dented. The bearings need to be installed with the shields out. When you clean them take the shields off and use denatured alcohol. Only use 2 drops of speed cream per bearing. Any more and it will slow you down
