- i've got been using Black Panther Swiss bearings in a pair boards for some years. they have been sturdy and supply sturdy speed, adequate to do grinds interior the 9ft end of the pool. The ABEC score has little to do with speed. It merely pertains to tolerances in manufacture and use in extreme speed equipment. It has not something to do with the suitability of a bearing for skateboarding. it relatively is why maximum extreme-end bearings are actually not ABEC rated, as they are designed especially for skateboards.

- Q: For my college engineering design project my team is basically designing a mousetrap car that has to travel a minimum distance of 3 meters and the dimensions are 20cm X 10cm X 10cm. The car will rely on its coasting phase to travel the majority of this distance so the reduction of friction between the axle and body needs to be at a minimum. I was thinking of using ball bearings for high quality rc cars but the only problem I face is how to keep them in the body which is basically a sheet of aluminum with two 1 cm edges bent 90 degrees downward with an 8 cm hole drilled through each side for the axles (od of bearings is 8 cm). I was thinking of using epoxy to keep them in but id like to hear other opinions.
- if your axle shaft was solidly mounted to the vehicle, perhaps even a threaded bolt, and nothing touches both the inner and outer races, you could just tighten the nut on one end and it would stay together. i would suggest using a locknut, which can be left loose without loosening up from vibrations or the spinning wheels. i might suggest roller blade wheels and bearings. abec 9 bearings are very good low friction bearings, or the bones brand ceramic bearings are even better. with a large profile wheel, a wheel that covers more distance per revolution, a set of abec 9 bearings can allow a good roller blader to hit speeds of over 70 mph. and roller blade wheels are setup with their bearings to be through bolted fairly tightly in place, which might be ideal for your setup. another thing may be skateboard parts. the trucks, if tightened up real tight to prevent lean steering, might make very easy to use axles that are meant ot have wheels on them.....

- If you have cheap bearings - like $15 jobbies - no. Just toss them and get new if they are slow. Stop skating in water or spots that will gunk them up. If you have good bearings like swiss - take the covers off, soak them in a glass jar of gasoline (carefully) for a good day - then take them out and let dry on a papertowel. Rip and tearrrrrr.

- Not sure which ones you are talking about here. If you are talking about the front bearings. Do you mean for one or both sides. Also remember this on alot of vechicals. Some are what are called pressed on and others are not pressed on. The ones that are not pressed on are alot cheaper to replace and if you and a friend are a back yard mechanics. Both of you should be able to do the job.

- G.M. recommends several different methods, but the most simple is the best. Your pick-up has disc brakes, and this is a factor in the procedure. After cleaning and packing the bearings, and assembling the hub and rotor assembly, with the appropriate socket tighten the FIRST retaining nut until it stops. You will feel it bottom out. Spin the hub/rotor assembly several times and tighten again until it bottoms out. Do NOT apply pre-load. Merely tight is sufficient. At this point, controversy arises. Some will advise to install the lock ring and outer nut at this position. It isn't wrong, it is just that if you back the nut off approximately 1/6th to 1/3rd of a turn, and then secure it with the lock and outer nut, the bearings will run just a BIT cooler,and the fact that the rotor isn't held rigid will allow the pads a bit longer life, and it won't affect either safety or alignment.
