Q:when he moves the tire back and forth. Is this very serious to be replaced with new wheel bearings asap?
It used to be common practice to remove wheel bearings and inspect and repack with grease and replace and re-torque. This has become a thing of the past with the newer bearings being replaced as a unit with the abs systems in use now days. If your wheel has noticeable play top to bottom it a safe bet the wheel bearings are worn past there useful life but ball joints or struts can also cause play. If the play is front to back, the steering components should also be checked to determine if it is the steering or bearings. And yes it can be serious and dangerous. Any problem with the steering or suspension and rotating parts should be addressed immediately.
Q:I have a 2001 Dodge Durango and it has been making a roaring/humming noise when I drive usually it gets loud when I get up to 15-20 mph. The rpm's are fine and it doesn't overheat so I suspected my wheel bearings. This morning, I jacked up the front and tested both tires. The passenger side had a lot of play in it and when I spun the wheel, it made a slight grinding noise as if something was rubbing. The driver side did not make this noise.1) is this a problem with the bearings?2) if yes, what goes into replacing them?3) is there a website that gives step-by-step instructions for replacing them?
2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive??
Q:and what are they used for?
there iside the wheel thats what lets it roll
Q:i just found my skateboard after about 5 years and two of the wheels are rusted and wont move. im working on replacing the wheels and bearings, but the two rusted wheels still wont come off i was able to get the bolt off of one and it now spins, but thats about it. its been soaking in coke all week and i bought wd-40 today and used that.
buy new one if rusted - you don't ride it - so buy new one let it rust to
Q:I have ABEC-5 bearings, and I have cleaned them but do not have anything to use as lube, Will gun oil be ok?
depends what kind of gun oil, there are lots of oil that'll leave a residue behind which will just make your bearings collect more dirt and dust, gun oil is know for doing that but you always try it out, in a pinch i've used oil before but it's not always the best for lube. A can of tri-flo at the hardware store will work great and should last a long time if you just use it for your bearings. If you have a lot of gun cleaning supplys maybe you have something called rem oil, it'll work good enough to keep your bearings lubed and doesn't leave a residue behind.
Q:well i thought my skateboard was lame but i figured out yesterday i had to loosen something, but the thing is, i don't know what, the bearing or trucks and what's the use for loosening or tighting each onep.s. what are some good skateboards for cheap and where can i buy themthanks in advance
deffinatly okorder
Q:I took my car to the dealer within two months of purchasing it (after I had taken it another repair shop--being told that the bearings needed to be replaced). The dealer told me that it was most likely my bearings but that for the time being they were only going to rotate my tires. Now the dealership is telling me that my tires are worn and that I need to replace all four tires. My car had 20K miles on it when I bought it with this tire issue. Thanks for any advice!!!
It does not seem as though no one can know for sure that the bearings are out. They are easy to pack and replace. If the bearings are no good a lot of things could happen. You could ruin tires you cou ruin the race or the spindle. The bearings are not that expensive and you can buy the grease that would last for ever.
Q:As stated, I have a 2003 Honda Civic EX, 2dr, MT. I have been noticing a progressively louder sound from the rear of the car. We just got new tires, and at first I thought it was that, but its getting louder. I checked everything out and nothing seems to be rubbing. The breaks are within spec and the emergency break is not dragging. Upon inspection, the left hub bearing seems tight. I removed the wheels and drums and it does not turn as freely as the right side. It is NOT loose, just tight. Could this be the source of my problem? And if so, Can I just repack the bearings or do I need to replace them? The part only comes as a complete unit, so I cannot buy just the bearing set.
Even if they are not loose, the wheel bearings can be noisy. You have gone through the proper steps of checking to make sure nothing is rubbing and check the brakes. The rear wheel bearings come pre-assembled in the hub unit, so you'd have to get the hub unit and replace it as a whole. Fairly straight-forward repair: Remove the wheel, remove the drum, pop off the cap that covers the spindle lock nut (the cap can be reused), remove the spindle lock nut (22mm) and throw it out (should always use a new one once it is removed), slide off the hub assembly. Reinstall with new hub assembly in reverse order. Be sure to torque the hub lock nut to proper specs (134 lb-ft), as if it is overtightened/undertightened it can cause the new bearing to prematurely wear out.
Q:On a scale of 1-10 how good are abec 3 skateboard bearings?
They can be between a 9 and 10 or they can be a 1. The ABEC number is basically useless for skate bearings. It is related to vibration at very high speeds (over 200 mph on a board). The tight tolerances on the high ABEC ratings can actually slow you down which is why the high end company (Bones, Zero Drag, Twin Cam) all make bearings without any ABEC rating as their top bearings. However, there is a spec called precision that is really sloppy and was in common use before people started getting ABEC 1 bearings for the consistency. The biggest thing that 99% of the people will see as a difference in speed of the bearing is the lubricant that they maker put in the bearings. Grease will be slow at first until it is pushed mostly to the side but it lasts the longest before you need to relubricate or replace the bearings. Oil is the fastest but doesn't last long. Gels are in between in speed and life.

1 i highly doubt it has replaceable ball bearings....most cheap grinders have a bushing......... #2 even if it does have replaceable bearings....its probably cheaper to just buy a new angle grinder than to try and have them replaced.... #3 there is no specific part for this.....i mean yes there is but no way to find out since u would have to pull it apart and look........ #4 also since u didn't say which bearing are u talking about??
