Q: When I drive my VW at high speeds there is an odd vibration in the steering wheel. Could this be a problem with the wheel bearings?
If it is just vibration - not noise, then check your wheels for balance. Next would be brake rotors.
Q: This may seem like a stupid question as I am just learning to skateboard.I bought a brand new complete board with abec 5 bearings and they seem quite stiff. Am I suppose to oil them before I ride or do they eventually loosen up as I ride? Also I took the riser pads off because I heard it makes it easier to learn to ollie, will this help me? I have 51mm wheels so I dont think they will rub against the board. Thanks for your help.
There could be a couple causes but lack of lubrication is not a likely one. Does your board have greased bearings? Many cheap ones have way too much grease which is great in that they will be more water resistant and not need maintenance for a long time. However, they will take a long time to free up. You can open them and clean out the grease and relubricate them with the right amount or other materials. If this is the case, the wheels will turn smoothly but slowly. For some reason many (most?) boards come without bearing spacers. They keep the bearings from jamming with side loads (like turning or having the wheel nuts on snug). Check if loosening the nuts makes the wheels run faster.
Q: what is the difference between alloy bearings and plastic bearings?
Alloy bearings are med out of metal alloys. Plastic bearings are made out of plastic. The metal ones are more durable and last longer, but are heavier than the plastic ones.
Q: how to replace wheel bearings on a 97 ford aspire?
I already did replace a front wheel bearing on my 97 Aspire about six years ago. I needed a hydraulic press but managed to do it by using a socket the right size to hammer the bearing center down on the wheel flange tube. This wheel bearing is still working fine today on a car that sees 8000 to 10000 miles per year. I bought this car in July 2000 and it currently has 180,000 miles on it. I put Mobil one synthetic oil in it when I first bought it and it still runs like new. I do not recommend installing the front wheel bearings with a hammer. It's too tricky.
Q: On a big truck that holds a 3 pc. drive line and has 2 carrier bearings, is it best 2 keep the bearings level?
It is important to keep the bearings square with the drive line. The whole point of having the bearings to support the multiple piece drive line is so that the shaft doesn't need to be absolutely level with the frame, or to be absolutely straight from the transmission to the differential. THE ONLY CRITICAL angle is that the mating surfaces of the transmission and the differential must be within a tolerance of 1-1/2° of each other. The OTHER critical issue is that all of the bearing bosses must be square with each other. If the number 1 joint is positioned at 12 o'clock, then numbers 2 3 must also be at the same index or the driveline will grow under load and at speed ( 40 MPH) and will exhibit a server vibration. Good Luck
Q: i noticed they had some dirt in them after rideing around a bit and it happens to be from just 2 bearings from 1 wheel, ive completely disasmbled the bearings and tried to put them back to getter but the ball bearings just keep locking up on me !!! its been frustrating me like crazy man, and i know its not from not having lube they always have lube in, its just the reassembly that wont go well.
you are the main stressful brat I even have ever heard. U deserve your punishment infact i'm hoping she cuts your internet off and locks u in there for 3 days. Skipping college, staying out previous due? If i replaced into your mum i does not permit u bypass away the domicile for each week nor having the flexibility to apply any cellular units. in line with hazard you could have the flexibility to experience like a technique of ravenous babies in a 0.33 international united states of america and journey that they don't even GET to bypass to college yet you have chose to pass college. Disrespectful little brat
Q: Can anyone explain what the symtoms of main bearings being bad versus rod bearings? I think I have a slight rod knock and am going to try and replace the bearings but I wanted to know if I have to replace the main bearings too or if there is a way to know. Also does anyone know if I can replace the main bearings on my car without having to pull the engine out? I know I can do this for the rod bearings by taking oil pan off and replacing them...I have a 1996 honda accord LX
Yes, if your going to replace the rod bearings then change the main bearings as well. You can replace both of them without removing the engine if you know what your doing. Remove the main bearing cap and push the other half out by rolling it around the crank shaft. Easiest way to tell which it is, start engine and get noise to start. Pull spark plug wires one at a time, then reinstall. If the noise goes away at a certain cylinder then you found the bad rod bearing. If that doesn't work then it is most likely a main bearing. Only problem with replacing them in the car is you can't properly check bearing clearances on the crankshaft. Good luck
Q: It kinda makes a humming sound from the front end
Ball bearings?? There are no ball bearings in the front end of a Ford Explorer, or any other car for that matter. Most cars use tapered roller(drum)bearings. They usually run 10-25$ per side, plus 5-15$ for new seals to put around them. Grease will be about 10$ for a can of good stuff. Do it yourself and save some money on the labor.
Q: I have split the case, and removed the crankshaft and bearing seals. I want to replace the the crank Bearings. What is the best way to to get them out with out damaging the case? Also, when it is time to install the new crank do I need to use the Yamaha Installing pot tool? I can't find this tool anywhere.
I often end up submitting the same question on other sites
Q: I have a pair of rx15 bauer roller blades and I need to get new wheels, bearings and spacers for them. I am a hockey player so I need some good wheels and bearings that will hold up, but I also don't want them to be expensive. If anyone has some good suggestions that would be great. I usually just buy the stock bearings and wheels, but they are getting expensive. Also is it worth it to get bigger wheels for the back two and smaller ones for the front?
If okorder they should b able to help you
