- Bushings - use powdered graphite on contact areas, Never use petroleum or oil based lubricants on bushings. Bearings - Remove the shields and apply 2 drops of skateboard bearing lube and replace shields. If bearings are dirty, clean them first. The axle nuts should be loose enough to give a little play in the wheels. About 1/4 turn looser than hand tight. If the nuts get looser as you ride, the nylon retaining collar is broken and the nuts need to be replaced. A local skate shop should have these for about $1-2 for the set of 4
- Q: I've cleaned my 5000-C but the spool doesn't let line on unless you pull even with everything turned to the lowest. Im trying to figure out if the inside has bearing because the bar in the spool doesn't come out at all. Is this normal or is it suppose to come out once you remove the white gear? Need help asap... - the only bearings on the 5000C are the ones at the ends of the spool shaft. one external, underneath the tension adjustment cap and the other inside the opposite sideplate, held in place by a small metal clip. *the only BALL bearings. other turning contact points have bushings which to a nit picker, are, in fact, bearings.

- No,the bearings need to come out so you can first clean the crank journal and second measure the dia.of the journal on the crank and the block to see if you have any wear and what size bearing to go back together with,either standard or an oversize bearing.

- look for a bones bearing cleaner online, only 5$, use a mixture of paint thinner and cleaning solvents. DO NOT use water based solvents or WD-40, they will clean your rust for now, BUT soon the rust will double to its original.

- You will have to buy a new headset with sealed bearings if you want to do this. However, if your current headset is in good shape, simply servicing it will keep it in good shape for years.

- You can have seperate pieces, but you sepArate them. I think you would have to design an assembly to suit your needs. Most bearings are inseperable. You just need to separate the bearing housing from the whatever.
