- Q: Basically I have a 3000watt amp, and I need to buy the right wires. Would I still manage to get the full power out of the amplifier with 1000w speaker wiring kit or do I need to buy a 3000w speaker wiring kit?If so, where is the difference with the higher wattage wiring kits. Thanks
- 3000w amps are rare and expensive. Is that peak power or rms? Can you provide the brand/model? If it's ACTUALLY 3000w rms you need a high output electrical system with a custom alternator and probably a 2nd battery, and at a MINIMUM you need a GOOD quality 1/0 awg wiring kit. On the other hand - if this is 3000w peak the actual power (rms) could be as low as a few hundred watts. Amps this size will run w/o a problem with most stock electrical systems. A good 4 awg wiring kit would probably be more than adequate. Many lower level brands use bogus peak ratings to make their equipment appear to be more powerful than it actually is. Wiring is based simply on the thickness of the copper. Some of the cheap brands are less than honest about the size of their wiring. They get around advertising regulations by only using the word gage or gauge, not the wire standard AWG. If the wire you use is too small it will have excessive voltage drop so the amp will not be able to produce the power it would otherwise. More importantly, in extreme cases if the wire isn't fused properly it can get hot, melt the insulation off and become a fire hazard.
- Q: so i got a few questions. on my 2000 chevy cavalier i got my audio system upgraded but toke it to a shop to get done i am ready to hook up a amp and woof but wanna do it my self to save a few hundred bucks as i was observing my car where to put stuff at i notice a blue wire that is going from where it looks like from my radio to my fuse box on the driver side and is hooked up to a fuse. what is that? and if its the remote wire can i hook up the remote wire for the amp with that blue wire to or is that to much?
- There should be a block in that fuse panel marked auxiliary or aux. That will be the 12V power conx but I advise you to be safe and let the pros do the job for you.
- Q: DO i TWIST THE WHITE AND RED SMALL WIRES TOGETHER UNDER THE WIRE NUTS ON AC WIRING TO THE CONDENSER?
- The wires you describe control the relay that starts the AC unit. The main power wires are heavy duty (black and red if this is a 220 volt unit). The light guage wires are low voltage AC and connect to the thermostat. DO NOT joint the red and white wires. There will be a terminal for the red wire. You will have to find out which one it is. Try to get the wiring diagram for your unit from the Internet or call a service professional.
- Q: in hooking up a hot wire from the battery to a toggle switch inside a vehicle, i ran a seperate ground wire to the body, there are 2 wires coming from the unit i need to hook to the toggle switch.how do i test to see which one of those is a hot wire? i am not too smart at this. ty kindly
- Are the wires the same color?, if so the best way is to take unit apart, identify the wire that is connected to the shell the bulb screws into, or is fastened to, that wire is the negative. The wire that is connected to the center of the shell is the hot', or positive wire, this wire is connected to the switch. remember to install a fuse of the appropriate size in the circuit. Hope this helps, good luck!
- Q: I have a Hunter 5 minute fan. I have four wires coming from my ceiling. Red, Black, White, and Bare Copper. The Fan has a Green Wire, Black Wire, White WIre,and a Black/White striped Wire. The Ceiling Plate also has green wire. I know to connect the black to black, red to black/white striped, white to white. But for the green and copper wires, do I connect the copper wire from the ceiling to the green wire in the ceiling plate and also to the green wire from the fan?
- Black (hot) to Black White (return) to White Bare (ground) to Green [Green wire can also be connected to metal box with Wire-Nut] Red (light) to Black/White wire (switch)[ in some cases Blue wire]. Page 8 Installation Manual (4-Wirine the Fan) All wiring must be in accordance with national and local electrical codes and ANSI/NFPA 70. If you are unfamiliar with wiring, use a qualified electrician. Wall switches are not included. Select an acceptable general-use switch in accordance with national and local electrical codes. 4-1. Before attempting installation, make sure the power is still off. 4-2. To connect the wires, hold the bare metal leads together and place a wire nut over them, then twist clockwise until tight. For all these connections use the wire connectors provided. 4-3. Connect the bare or green ground wire (grounded) from the ceiling to the green ground wire (grounded) from the ceiling plate and the green ground wire from the fan. 4-4. Connect the white wire (ungrounded) from the ceiling to the white wire (ungrounded) from the fan. 4-5. Connect the remaining wires as follows: Dual Switch Wiring: ? The black wire (ungrounded) from the ceiling to the black wire (ungrounded) from the fan ? The black/white wire (ungrounded) from the fan to the wire (ungrounded) for the wall switch Single Switch Wiring: ? The black wire (ungrounded) from the ceiling to the black (ungrounded) and the black/white wire (ungrounded) from the fan CAUTION: Be sure no bare wire or wire strands are visible after making connections. 4-6. Turn the wire connectors upward and push them carefully back through the ceiling plate into the outlet box. 4-7. Spread the wires apart, with the grounded wires on one side of the outlet box and the ungrounded wires on the other side of the outlet box
- Q: I am replacing an old outlet with a GFCI and I have encountered a red wire...what is the red wire for?
- It sounds like that receptacle was half switched. Receptacles are designed to have the small brass tab on the black side snap off and one half is constantly alive (black wire)and the other side is connected to a wall switch (red wire). Is this in a room with no ceiling light? Switched outlets are usually for a lamp to turn on as you enter the room. GFCI outlets are not designed to be switched on and off as both sides will go off. Is this room in a basement, kitchen, bathroom or near water pipes? You may not be required to have it GFCI protected. If you can and want a GFCI then try another outlet near by.
- Q: Where, online, can I find a (color!) wiring diagram for my 1985 Yamaha Virago 700?My motorcycle starter solenoid isn't throwing because the little wire isn't getting connected to negative -- it might be a connection to the handlebar starter switch, or the quot;run/offswitch, or the side stand sensor, or the neutral sensor, or something else! I need to see a diagram so I can tell what that something else is, and to see what color the wires from all those other sensors are.
- A trip to the local Yamaha shop (send your GF if shes good looking) they may be willing to print you a copy from their manual. On the other hand you just buy yourself a manual, you could always use it to sweeten the deal when you eventually go to sell it.
- Q: The t-stat comes with EIT module. that wires to the t-stat and the furnace. I'm having trouble with the module to furnace wiring.
- from the thermostat you match 1,2,3 wires to the module, from the module to the furnace. - R to R (this is your 24V hot) W to W (furnace 24V input G to G (fan for cooling 24V input) Y to Y (cooling 24V input), there should also be another wire that connects with this that goes to the condensing unit C to C ( Common - must have this connected for IAQ to work) as with the Y, there should be another wire to connect to this that goes to the condensing unit. - maybe W2 to W2 if you have a 2 stage furnace, you'll know if you have a 2 stage furnace because the W2 connection on the furnace will be present. - maybe Y2, if you have 2-stage cooling. if you have a humidifier connect both wires from the humidifier selinoid valve to each of the HUM terminals.
- Q: I have a question on Razer Naga Epic.Does the USB charger wire also act as a mouse signal wire or is it still a warless signal even if it's plugged in thru a wire?Bottom line, is the wire in the Razer Naga Epic only for charging?

- Q: does anyone have a wiring diagram for a rccb or can you explain how to wire one up . as an rcd has a wiring for connecting to earth but an rccb does not have that.
- RCCB is Resual Current Circuit breaker, so it operates sensing the difference in voltage in the phases and neutral... ie if an earth leakage is occured there will be a difference in the current flowing through and hence activating the trip ckt if the RCCB and causing trip. Thus the earth connection is not required for the rccb.. so go ahead without the earth wire...
