Q: no power to brown trailer wire
If wired correctly this is the brake light wire. Have someone hold the brake pedal down then probe with a voltage checker to see if the wire is broken or not. This is a small tester with a red light on it and you poke the point into the wire with the black wire grounded. Make sure all the fuses are okay and the sockets rust free, etc. Make sure the adapter (female) on the vehicle is corrosion free. I have to scrape mine out every year or so as it corrodes with oxidation.
Q: so im lost in how i should wire my subs. I have two subs that i need to wire both are 2 ohms 400 watts i don't know if i should wire them parallel or series if you can help me out that would be great!
usually all sub wiring is the same, youll have the rca cables and antenna wire comming from the radio to the amp, power and ground wire going from amp to battery and ground, and than should have 2 wires coming off each sub to the amp, im guessing thatd be parallel, if you wire in series, so like use 2 wires and splice off to each sub, so 2 wires off the amp powering each sub you would up the ohms and put a too much of a load on the amp, people only wire in series when they have too many subs and not enough outlets on the amp, good luck
Q: If not, then, in experiments, why must a wire always be straight?
The resistance of a wire results from: (1) the conductivity,σ, of the material used to construct the wire; (2) the length, L, of the wire; and (3) the cross-sectional area,S, of the wire. R = L / σS Bending the wire might theoretically crimp the wire and affect the cross-sectional area. However, as a practical matter, this is not a factor. Most likely, you are required to keep the wires straight for the sake of neatness. It makes it easier for your instructor to follow the logic of your circuit.
Q: When they stole my stereo they ripped everything off now i just have wires i tried looking up wiring harness and nothing.. Im kinda frustrated lol i have 3 blue wires 3 dark greens orange black tan yellow.brown etc.. Can u guys tell me.plz what they are i dont want to keep burning fuses lol

Q: I have a set of two rotating beacon lights on my truck. I would like to wire these directly to the vehicle with an on/off switch. I picked up a two prong toggle switch from autozone, as well as some wire. I'm not sure how I need to do the wiring. I read somewhere about running wire from the fuse box? And how about grounding?

Q: 1 green wire, 1 black with red stripe wire
Green wire = positive Black with red tracer = negative
Q: I'm splicing four pieces of 14-2 gauge copper wire to an 16 gauge electrical cord. The copper wire doesn't have any covering on it. Is it okay to connect the grounds, then attach it to my keyless lampholder? Or is something bad going to happen then?
I don't think so you could get shocked, Look that up on an Electric Wiring site before you do and thing else
Q: Please help. I am trying to fit a new light into a house with old wiring. My new light just has a connection block with 1 blue wire and 1 brown wire. When I removed the old light there are 5 wires coming from the ceiling. 1 black and 1 red coming from one lead and 1 black and 1 red coming from the other. Any ideas how I wire this up. Many thanks.
You have very old wiring if you only have 2 pairs of black and red wires in the ceiling. A modern installation will contain a third pair and also have green/yellow (or bare copper) earth conductors too. The following instructions will make your light work but you should get your wiring checked as soon as possible to bring it up to modern safety standards. One of the cables in the ceiling is carrying your supply current from the fuse box, the other is coming from the switch. You must connect the red wires together with a secure plastic joint block. This will send Live current down to the switch. Connect one of the blacks to the blue wire in the light fitting. This will make the Neutral connection to the light. Connect the other black to the brown wire of the light fitting. This will be the Live connection from the switch. If you have any green and green/yellow wires then you must connect these together because they are the earths. Make absolutely sure that you thoroughly insulate your joint blocks with electricians tape before you secure the fitting to the ceiling.
Q: I just bought an aftermarket cd player for my Grand Cherokee and I would rather not have to cut and strip wires so I want to get an wiring harness adapter. My question is, can I just get any wiring harness adapter or do I need the direct connection adapter that is specifically made for Chrysler to Kenwood?
Doug is spot on, but missing one thing that im going to add in real quick. The wiring harness makes things simper because it is color coordinated with the aftermarket wire radios. Some chrystler/dodge/jeep come with an existing amplifier that must be bypassed in order to have sound come through the speakers. Lucky this bypass is easy as connecting a wire. (quick note, buy only metra install kits- wiring harness and dash kit) On the wiring harness there will be a blue wire (not to get confused with the blue wire from the radio) coming off of it. This needs to be hooked up with the red wires, or the blue wire from the radio's wiring harness which is the amp remote wire. This bypasses the amp.
Q: I have a 3 wire source I want to connect it to a switch on/off and then make it 2 wire to the light
If you have black red and white, it could be wired for a three way switch, best to call an electrician as this is too complicated to write the testing procedures. If the wires are black white green more than likely the green is ground. Simple test with power on black to white 110v, black to green 110v, white to green 0v. If this is the case, ground the switch using the green wire to the ground terminal on the switch, whites from the power source is connected to white going to light using a wire nut or other approved method, both blacks are connected to the two brass terminal screws on the switch, it does not matter which terminals you use, just make sure when you are installing the switch back into the work box that off is down. Good luck and if you are in any way unsure call a licensed electrician, they'll only charge a service fee plus materials for a job that small.
