- Q: Bathroom wood panels on the aluminum plate opened, how do? Bathroom wood panels on the aluminum plate opened, how do?
- This is the quality of decoration construction. Usually due to paste the connection between the aluminum-plastic plate and the blockboard glue aging. Wood and aluminum-plastic plate deformation coefficient, physical and chemical properties of large differences, and because the aluminum-plastic plate itself is aluminum and plastic composite materials, there are signs of war-torn deformation, a long time the crack is normal.
- Q: Production of fiber cement board copy method has what characteristics
- Dehydration is reasonable. The net is taken from the beginning of the net, by the impact of the impact of the fur roll, in the completion of the transfer from the round to the fabric at the same time, the first layer of water can be discharged in time. The primary layer of each transmission and superposition are subject to the role of the roll roll out the water, the formation of the small material layer of water content, can be achieved before entering the vacuum dehydration process requirements. As the dehydration effect is good, resulting in a higher rate of blanking, stable production. Can be wrapped in the shape of the larger thickness of the slab. Use long fiber asbestos, can give full play to "copy the advantages."
- Q: I'm redoing the deck in my back yard. I've discovered the possibility of using deck tiles (wood slats, or slate, etc.) but not until after I ripped up the existing boards. There is a cement slab under my current deck. Could I just install the deck tiles on that, or would there have to be some sort of drainage system underneath? Thanks for the help!
- the best starting place for your tile project is Lowe's or the HoDepot for classes in laying tile .. they hold these sessions on Saturday [[ hope that does not interfere with your work ]] the concrete is the perfect base to lay tile .... you should
- Q: can i put ceramic tile on laun board in kitchen and will it stick ok?
- It ll stick for awhile but won t last. The total substrate thickness won t support tile. There will be to much deflection and the bond between the tile and luan will come loose from movement. You need a minimum of 1 1/4 total flooring to support tile. Most cases this is 3/4 sub floor and a 1/2 of a cement board or special plywood , properly installed. This come from both the TCA and ATC tile guide hand books. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
- Q: I am laying a new tile floor over plywood subfloor. I have Durock cement backerboard. The area I'm covering is only 4'3 x 6'8. I don't really want to put the money out for power saws ($60+) so I am planning to use a hand saw. What kind is most appropriate? Can I use a small utility knife for the smaller details?
- I think most guys just use a utility knife (with a sharp blade) to score the board and snap it kind of like drywall. You'll use a few blades but I think it'd work fine. Use the fasteners recommended by the manufacturer. I see a lot of roofing nails being used but I don't think they're the best thing to use. The Durock wasn't cheap and neither is the tile you'll be installing. Don't try to save fifty cents on fasteners.
- Q: Tile seems to be an expensive options. Want a finished look for less than tile
- Why not cover it with a basic wood deck? Lay beams to make a frame on top of the cement, bind these together. Then like laying a floor, cross these beams with deck boards (2x6, or even 2x4's). Just use treated lumber. Wouldn't take much know how or effort. Just a little lumber. Or you could get a pressure washer and try to remove the old paint. Then stain the cement and seal. Or repaint the cement a preferred color. Or get outdoor carpeting if it's a covered patio. There are some really nice woven rugs that look like jute, or natural fibers but are actually made out of recycled plastic. They can be easily cleaned by hosing them off. Or make a short frame around the cement, lay down some slate or other flat landscaping stones and fill the cracks with sand. There's all sorts of cool things you could do with this!
- Q: I am installing a new tub and enclosure. I have exposed everything down to the studs and plumbing. I have heard that when installing backer board in a shower the best material to use nowadays is cement backer board (like Durock) since they are more resistant to mold than green board. Anyways, what is the correct process for installing cement backer board in a shower? Do I just screw the boards right into the studs, or do I have to first put down another thin barrier sheet (like some waterproof material), then the cement backer board, then another waterproof sealant, then I can install the enclosure? I just want to do this right the first time and not leave any steps out of the process. I would hate to develop another moisture leak and then find out that my barrier did not hold up well. Thanks and take care, I appreciate any help.
- plastic on the studs, then Duroc [drill holes for screws] then seal it with cement sealer, then the enclosure,
- Q: I have Joint Compound and cement board tape, How do i fix a 6 inch hole in drywall? Anything else I Need?
- Do not use a cement board tape it is thicker that wall board tape. If you have a 1x board you can fit a short pc behind it also w/ screws and fill in the hole w/ a small pc of dry wall and then tape over it . Just another way to go GL
- Q: Just put cement type 1 portland, over hardie board about 3/8 of an in. how long do i have to wait to stain it?
- i would give it a week, it should set pretty quick...
- Q: what does this mean second phase in two phases material ( first phase is binding cement ) ?
- First consider the term 'phase' as in 'phase change', such as ice melting. It means a particular state of matter, solid or liquid in the melting of ice. However, in an inhomogenous solid material you can have two or more solid phases. For instance, Transite insulation board was made of portland cement and asbestos [not in use much nowadays]. So what you have is some two phase inhomogenous solid consisting of one phase as binder or cement, and the other phase could be a filler, a fiber, or whatever.
