- Q: Hi I was thinking of bonding Hardiflex Fiber Cement Board to a Wood Chipboard, I want to know if it is possible to bond this two things using D3 Wood Glue? Will They be bonded with same strength as wood to wood? Thanks!
- um I suppose you can find a good glue to bond it together. My question is why? Chipboard isn't resistant to water, the cement board is ... what are you trying to do? maybe there are better ideas.
- Q: how can i put tile in my bathroom using thin cement board.so my bathroom floor can be even with my living room floor.
- I guess I've been on the planet Mars far too long? Blue Board?? On a floor? Tile underlayment?? I tile every day of my life, even ceilings, and never heard of either method suggested. Not knowing at all your current bathroom substrate, or the substance of the LV room floor, NO you cannot find concrete backer board thinner than 1/4. In fact I suspect you'd have a hard time finding the 1/4. 1/2 is standard. I wonder what finish the Bathroom floor is currently? Certainly the Marble strip for a transition is also standard, often between tile and tile. There are transition moldings sold for the purpose of going fom tile to carpet, or tile to hardwood, even pancake, overlaps. Steven Wolf Just my two sense
- Q: How does the fiberboard be sunked?
- This is no way to solve the problem, because of his cement characteristics so he will be under the temperature of the floating deformation, and now there are two kinds of fiber cement board on the market, a stronger strength should be the kind of you use, that Kind of deformation characteristics, but also with a slightly smaller in the hardness, but his deformation of the situation is much smaller, it is not the use of calcium silicate board, the kind of board will not be deformed
- Q: What can I put on the two walls that have the cement backer board? Is there only certain things that I can put on them. They are about 3 ft. away from the stove. What is the code for this. I am at a loss, but I need to do something about this. Anyone know about wood stove codes. Thanks...
- Ours has those fake bricks as a wall behind it, and a brick base for the woodburner to set on. Sounds like the distance from the wall is pretty standard, about the same for ours. The Red brick finishing looks pretty good.
- Q: Can you hang outside garden wall hangings on fiber cement board siding and what is the best way to do it?
- I use rubber cement for a lot of crafts but Im not sure how well it holds up under weather or how much weight it would hold on a vertical surface. It's sort of like that removeable glue that comes in the mail where you can pull credit cards off paper, or pull a letter apart that seems glued but it doesn't tear the paper. The command 3M stuff works great but too expensive (in my opinion) to just use for a month and then throw away.
- Q: I've removed the old cement boards and I've put new ones up on the shower walls. My tile will not go to the ceiling. I'm at the step where I need to apply thin-set and tape to all of the cement board seems. What do I do at the seem that transitions from cement board to sheet rock?
- Use Hardibacker and seal the seams with tape and thinset. Use thinset to set the tile using 1/4 spacers. I have used and recommend that you use a tile sealer to seal the slate prior to grouting and to use epoxy grout. The grout is more difficult to install but requires no sealers which need to be redone at least once a year in a shower and is well worth the initial time and effort. Be sure to read and follow the directions on the grout bags to ensure a uniform color and good grout set. MT C
- Q: What is the cement pressure plate?
- With light, high strength, waterproof, anti-corrosion, fire, large format, good processing, improve construction efficiency and so on. Widely used in civil and industrial buildings. Can be used for building floor, interior wall panels, exterior panels, ceiling panels, curtain wall panels, composite wall panels, insulation materials, roofing and other parts.
- Q: I plan on installing about 400 square feet of ceramic tile in a kitchen. I wanted to know if I need to put down a cement backer board before laying the tile?If so, how do I determine if I should use 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch? Finally, what is the preferred method of securing it to the subfloor? Is is it glued somehow or nailed to the floor joists (I suspect nailed, but I've never used it before). The subfloor is plywood and seems secure. I am not sure how thick the plywood is yet (haven't gone to the basement and looked for any stamps on it). I've done ceramic tile before, but it has always been a small area with mosaic tile, so I never put much thought into the backer board. Thanks
- Advantages of using backerboard instead of wood is its ability to withstand moisture, steam, and other types of wetness common to rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms where ceramic tile is usually installed. The cement backer board can be screwed or nailed to the wood framing. Always follow the instructions printed by the manufacturer. I use hot-dipped ring-shanked nails if I am nailing. Corrosion-resistant screws can also be used
- Q: Is the cement board poisonous?
- But the skin often contact with cement, some people will produce irritating skin lesions or skin allergies.
- Q: Is there a easy method to apply hydraulic water stop cement to the area where the wall meets the floor without making a mess. Thank you very much
- if i were doing where the wall meets the floor i would mix up handfuls and role it into ropes and pack it into the angle with a board end...
