- Q:I need someone's help on wiring my new JVC radio to its harness for a 1991 Chevrolet S10. Please Ty very much.
- Chevy S10 Radio Wiring Diagram
- Q:Whenever I'm making jewelry, I typically wind up using crimp beads (with toggle closures, in most cases). Whenever I cut off the beading wire at the end, after enclosing the crimp bead around it, there's always this itsy bitsy part of the wire that irritates me to no end when I wear the jewelry. It seems that I can only cut the wire so much before I wind up snipping at the crimp bead. How can I remedy the irritation fact of the left-over wire?Maybe put glue on the wire piece and let it dry? Idk. Grr.
- Here is the way to get rid of the scratchy wire: Take the wire on through the crimp bead and thread it down into the beads, and then crimp the wire. If you have a little wire sticking out there on down between the beads, just bend back the beads, and clip it with your jewelry wire cutters that have a side edge. Be sure and cut your wire with a couple inches to spare so you have enough wire to attach the clasp and thread the wire down. I was having trouble with the crimp bead scratching, no matter how I crimped it. I found out that they sell a crimp cover. It looks like an open clam shell, and you just slip it over the crimp bead, and close it with pliers. Beware, there is something called a clam shell, but it has a eye on it, it is for non-metal stringing materials. Another thing I found was a little tiny horseshoe called a guide. It goes above the crimp bead, and holds the clasp. It protects the wire from the wear and tear of the clasp. And it is so easy to pull the wire through it once it is on, you can adjust the length of the wire over and over. I was literally stuffing the wire down into the beads with a pliers. No more! Just pull on the end, and down the wire goes. No more ugly lengths of wire between the beads and the crimp bead. I found both these items in gold and silver colors, at Michaels, and Craft etc on line, and on other online sites. So, save the glue for working with elastic cord and gluing a bead over the knot to hide it.
- Q:is it safe to use twist on wire connector to connect my new stereo or should i crimp instead?
- Professional installers never use twist-on wire nuts for car audio wiring. They're fine for connecting solid wires in home wiring, but they're not made for connecting multi-strand wires in an environment with as much vibration as a vehicle. Eventually they'll fall off and you'll have a short circuit. You can use crimp-on barrel connectors, crimp bell caps, or solder your connections and cover them with shrink tubing or high-quality electrical tape. (Never use cheap electrical tape to insulate a connection--it will turn brittle and fall off over time). I like to use crimp caps.
- Q:The coiled wire is for making bucktails and i would like to buy it in bulk.
- lowes maybe or home depot.
- Q:wiring kit, subwoofers
- by wiring kit do you mean the amps power kit? some of which will include speaker wire for the subs anyway usually your amp will come with instructions that tell you what the minimum gauge is the amp will accept for power, this is the gauge power and ground cable you will want to get maximum power to the amp and to prevent overheating issues, typically amps under 400 watts rms power will do fine with 8 gauge, amps 400-1000 rms will use 4 gauge and 1000+ will use 2/0 gauge wire, for the subwoofer speaker wire you can never go too big gauge only too small, a kicker 12 gauge speaker wire will work for almost any application
- Q:I understand that in a plug you have the earth wire, live wire and neutral wire. But what is the individual job of these wires?? I know how to wire a plug, i just want to know the individual job of each wire. This is not homework, this is something iam teaching myself.Thanks.
- The typical U.S. power distribution system has two hot wires coming into your electric panel, plus a neutral wire. The neutral wire is grounded to earth ground, as is the protective green earth wire. An outlet, carrying 110 volts from one of the hot wires (black), supplies current for the load and it flows back to the transformer on the pole normally via the neutral (white) wire to the center transformer (grounded) tap. The green protective wire does nothing in normal operation. However, should the appliance have a metal outer skin, and the machine develops a short, energizing the outer skin, it will flow through the green ground wire back to the transformer rather than through you and back to the transformer.
- Q:what wires connect from the vehicle to the a/f sensor
- Why do u want to know what wires go to the sensor? If you have a code for the a/f sensor..99 % of the time it is an open in the sensor itself. On rare occasion there are others like a chewed wire by a rodent. But I would just recommend replacing the a/f sensor. And i u were to follow the wires from the male connector they would lead you to a big wire harness that basically just all ends up at the ECU. Just in case u wanted to know.
- Q:Why is thin strand wire better for powering car audio?
- Hi welt needs to be multi stranded at least 8 awg in diameter as it is flexible and more flexible than a solid wire as work wire back and forth hardens copper wire and it eventually will break. using a flexible wire reduces the possibility of a breakage.
- Q:When I cross the black wire and ground I get a spark. Isnthis normal?
- One you always need a hot wire to operate stuff and to run the circuit. never assume one color wire is the hot wire you never know what someone wired a item or a circuit up with maybe they only had green wire on their truck. I don't care if the wire is red, white, purple, blue , green or black i always to test to see what wires are my hot wires and what wires are line voltage. There are too many people who don't follow code and just wire up stuff how ever they want as long as it works for them. so protect yourself and test everything and wire stuff up right if you don't know how to read a book or get some training like someone else said its not difficult you just have to respect electricity and what it can do.
- Q:And if anyone could give me percise instructions on wiring subs to 1 or 4 ohm that would be great. I have two dual 4 ohm subs and need to know how to solder wires or crimp wires.
- really pretty simple.you can buy a cheap soldering iron for about eight bucks at walmart that comes with solder.plug the iron in and let it heat for about four to five minutes.while waiting on it to heat up twist the wires together.once the iron is hot put it on the wires and heat them for about thirty seconds.once they are hot put the solder on the wires and it will start to melt .use they iron to spread the solder over wires.it will be bonded and your ready to go.
