Q: wiring kit, subwoofers
by wiring kit do you mean the amps power kit? some of which will include speaker wire for the subs anyway usually your amp will come with instructions that tell you what the minimum gauge is the amp will accept for power, this is the gauge power and ground cable you will want to get maximum power to the amp and to prevent overheating issues, typically amps under 400 watts rms power will do fine with 8 gauge, amps 400-1000 rms will use 4 gauge and 1000+ will use 2/0 gauge wire, for the subwoofer speaker wire you can never go too big gauge only too small, a kicker 12 gauge speaker wire will work for almost any application
Q: have 0 gauge power wire, but don't have a ground wire! can I use the power wire as a ground wire if I cut a piece off?
The only difference between ground wire and power wire is the color of the jacket. Otherwise it's identical. If you have leftover power wire, go ahead and use it for the ground. Just wrap some tape around the end so you can tell it from the power wire if you need to disconnect and re-connect the amp.
Q: like lets i want to want to connect my speaker wires with other wires can i use elmer glue so that it sticks and will the wires still work?
u have to take off some of the plastic parts then twist the wires together then put electrical tape.. well atleast thats how i think it's done..
Q: Just took off the starter on a cavalier and forgot to label the wires. Can someone please send me a diagram of where all these wires go, or just tell me where they go. there are big post and one small one. Please help asap. Thanks.
big wire to big termal small wire to small terminal
Q: The switches for the ventilation have 6 wires coming out of the ceiling. My ventilation unit has 5 wires. The ceiling has 2 black, 2 red, and 2 white wires. The ventilation unit has yellow, black, white, red, and blue. how do i make the connections?
First of all, I agree with Peter K, and you must get those instructions--Very Important! How a fixture is wired depends upon its location in relation to the wires that lead from the main service entrance. So really no one can tell you for sure how to wire your ventilation fixture up without Seeing it. Also, how many switches are involved..1,or 2 or 3? Usually, White wires are always neutral, black always hot. BUT- in certain switch installations both black and white wires could be hot too. Red wires are used for grounding. Now there are improved grounding systems for greater safety, other colors involved, and jumper wires that are connected to the receptacle for a continuous ground. So that is why every one has answered your Q with caution about telling you how to do it. Sorry, I wasn't much of a help either!
Q: I don't like wiring nuts because I always feel like it's not a solid connection, like it could come out.
This Site Might Help You. RE: Is there an alternative to wiring nuts? I don't like wiring nuts because I always feel like it's not a solid connection, like it could come out.
Q: i heard there are many diferent copper wire but i only know 2 kinds.1 is for eletric and the other is for crafts. So what else is there?
Copper wire for electric/electronic cables has lots of categories, such as solid, stranded, coaxial, ribbon, power, small signal, stripline, flexible, twisted pair, and others. But your division into crafts/electric is not too useful, as either type of wire can be used for the other. You can use electric wire for crafts and vv. You can also get copper wire for construction use. .
Q: I have two alpine 1242d. I need to wire them parallel parallel. Ive seen many pictures on how to do it but im still a little confused. Okay first off do i need any special type of wiring or will my 4awg wire work. Because it shows multiple wire connections where the wires combine. The positive connect from an existing wire already running to the amp. If anyone understand what i mean can you explain it to me. Thank you much appreciated!
This is series parallel this diagram is a bit easier to read they didnt have one for par/par your wiring fine but 4 awg is a big huge for speaker wire for so i doubt it will work for wiring 2 dual voice coil subs where the wires combine just twist the copper together and put it in the speaker terminal if you feel like you just cant completely understand it take it to your local car audio shop or a best buy wherever they install car audio equipment im sure thye wont mind helping you out its hard to explain in writing
Q: what size of wire do i need and is the new fuse box/trip box kept in garage.or where can i get wiring diagrams from
Home supply stores sell books with instructions for wiring projects. In North America, install two additional branch circuits; use 12 gauge NM-B wire for outlets (remember to put a GFI as the first outlet on the network), with a 20 amp breaker; use either 12 or 14 gauge wire for lighting circuits. (Use a 15 amp breaker if you use 14 gauge.) The feeder cables get run from the garage to the main breaker box; if there isn't room for two additional breakers there, replace a couple of the existing breakers with duplex breakers.
Q: I have an old sewing machine without a plug that needs wiring up but it doesn't have the modern wire colours. There's one red wire and one yellow. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks =]
It would be better for you to post a picture of your wires and where they are going to on the machine so that we can tell you what is what. Otherwise it would be difficult to say just by telling us one is red and one is yellow. No offense intended, there's just not enough information with just knowing the wire colors. ------------------------ WARNING! Red is NEVER used to indicate a earth connection as XOXO suggests! Damage to your machine or harm to you could result if you attempted to connect red to earth. ------------------------ OK, I see your picture (thanks): Yellow is most likely the common wire. It connects to your white wire. The red wire connects to the Hot (black) wire. If you have a switch in the system, the red wire would connect to your switch or foot (gas peddle). And of course the other side of your switch would be connected to your black wire of the power cord.
