Q: all my wires are cut and im trying to find the power/hot wire so that i dont fry anything....im trying to hook up a new radio: Red is power, black is ground.

I do have an electrical tester and just want power for the fan, I will cover up the outlet. What wires go where ?: Depending on what kind of tester you have you can do the following... If you have a audible tester pinpoint the hot from the old wire and tie it to the new black wire. The rest is history. If you don't have an audible test, but one that lights up or one that is digital, set the digital to high volt reading, then take your index finger moisten it with your tongue and while holding it on one probe take the other probe and touch it to the old wires one at a time. When the test gives a reading you found the hot. Make sure you wearing shoes and not leaning up against anything metal, else you will get shocked. Forget to mention one important thing. After you find the hot, you should always tie the whites ( neutrals ) back first, then the hots last. If possible make sure the fan is off. If you can' t tell you will get an ark from the load. That is normal and nothing to be worried about.

Q: I am connecting a humidstat to furnace. I would normally use furnace/thermostat wire for this purpose except that I need 8 conductors and the largest furnace/thermostat wire seems to be 5 conductors. Q: What's the best kind of wire to use that can stand being kilned?: that really depends what you want to do and how high you are going to fire. Generally nichrome 80/20 wire should be OK until cone 9. Then there is Kanthal which will withstand even higher temperatures but is more expensive than nichrome. You could get either probably in electronics supply houses. If you do lowfire, maybe up to cone 06 or lower steel will probably be OK. The surface of the steel will oxidise and so get clearly thinner, keep that in mind. Generally your wire and the clay should not be in direct contact because they have different thermal expansion coefficients. Depends how rigid your wire is if it will lead to major damage to your piece. But if you wrap your wire with paper before you put clay around it it is probably OK as long as you don't enclose the entire thing with clay into a hollow space. But it also depends on what exactly you are trying to do, e.g. what kind of clay you are using. Mostly people use wire with clay for making beads. If that's what you are doing you can also look up bead making techniques.

Speakers only require 2 wire for connection a positive and negative (usually in red and white or black). Receivers only have 2 wires per speakers a positive and a negative (usually in red and white or black). Your cable has four wires in red, white, black and green, you use only two wires per speaker in either combination of colors. This cable is designed to have 2 set of speakers, the left and right.
