Applications

Q: Which wire is quot;hot, white or black?
There is no code required or generally accepted color code for fire alarm wiring. Usually circuits for different purposes are color coded differently. For instance, initiating device circuits and notification appliance circuits.
Q: The application is a bathroom light and exhaust fan combination. The fixtures wires are thiner than the supply wires. Should I wrap the thinner wire around the thicker wire or should I wrap them equally around each other? Then can I put a drop of solder on before I put the wire nut. Or is solder not a good idea?
If the supply wires are solid and the fixture wires are stranded put the stranded wire slightly past the end of the solid, say 1/16. Then put a yellow wire nut on them. Tug on the stranded wire to be sure it caught. If the wires are both solid, try twisting the larger wire around the smaller one. It is tricky but if you let your lineman's pliers slip a little as you twist it should work. Cut back to about 1/2 to 5/8 and install the yellow wire nut. Time was wires were soldered together, but properly installed wire nuts are just fine.
Q: Hi I have a ceiling fan/light to put up but after taking down the original rose, I am now unsure how to wire the existing wiring into the ceiling fan the wiring is a s follows:block 1 Live empty, red, red, block 2 loop all empty, block 3 neutral empty, black, blackthe connections on the fan are live neutral and earthGrateful for any help
In America its black to black, the whites bus, and green to ground. However, this is for a 115vac circuit. If its 250vac things change and you might want to hire an electrician.
Q: my internet wont pick up my wireless adapter thing now, because the internet box was reseted. How can I change it to wired?
Depending on your setup, you'll need to connect your Xbox and router (internet box) with an ethernet cable
Q: I am installing a ceiling fan. The directions say to connect the blue and black wire from the fan to the black wire coming from the ceiling and the white to the white from the ceiling using a wire nut. I have connected those with no problemThat leaves me with a green ground wire coming from the fan. However, the only ground wire coming from the ceiling is a naked solid copper wire. How am I supposed to connect those using a wire nut??
Threaded Wire
Q: When I cross the black wire and ground I get a spark. Isnthis normal?
One you always need a hot wire to operate stuff and to run the circuit. never assume one color wire is the hot wire you never know what someone wired a item or a circuit up with maybe they only had green wire on their truck. I don't care if the wire is red, white, purple, blue , green or black i always to test to see what wires are my hot wires and what wires are line voltage. There are too many people who don't follow code and just wire up stuff how ever they want as long as it works for them. so protect yourself and test everything and wire stuff up right if you don't know how to read a book or get some training like someone else said its not difficult you just have to respect electricity and what it can do.
Q: does anyone have a wiring diagram for a rccb or can you explain how to wire one up . as an rcd has a wiring for connecting to earth but an rccb does not have that.
Rcd Diagram
Q: The light fitting I bought has 1x Red Wire (A) 1x Green Wire (E) and 1x Blue Wire (N)...
The green wire is just a ground wire, black is usually the hot wire, that would leave the blue wire as the neutral wire. The white wire in house wiring is the neutral. The two red and one black from your wall is not standard in the USA, but it may be 220 volts. What kind of light fixture are you replacing, is it on a ceiling fan?
Q: Hello my question are:Examples given for wired and wireless communications systems?Compare and contrasted how wired and wireless communications systems function? Assessed the risks associated with wired and wireless communcations systems?(if you can put in simple details that would be helpful, because I understand parts of it but not all)Thank you
wired is connected by ethernet cables and is harder to hack into, while wireless is over the air and easier to hack, so the main difference is security and encryption. Wireless users have to share the bandwidth, wire have set bandwidth. BUT (big but) wireless is portable while wired is not. Now all this is computer communications.
Q: We bought a used 2004 Chevy Venture that is a cargo style van... it only had a radio in it. So we just bought a Sony car stereo with a cd player to install in it. However, we are having trouble locating the correct wiring harness for the 2004 Venture. We've bought two already for GM vehicles that should technically work for the year of our van, but they do not work. One salesman told us we needed a very expensive wiring harness because it controls the airbags and other electrical gadgets (but they didn't sell it at his store... he said to look online). I've looked online and can't find anything. Would we be better hardwiring it OR does anyone have any experience with a situation like this? Thanks!
did you try walmart? for a direct fit in the radio section,, also face plates for the dash. they have harness to connect from your car to the radio. you also can try the parts store..
