Q: What would the wire size be for a 3 phase 4 wire - 480/277V - 400A panelboard. Would it be (3) 600mcm w/ (1) 1/0 ground?: Three phase 3 wire is often called a 'delta' connection since the load(s) are distributed between each pair of phases. The 4 wire systems are also called 'Y' systems since the loads are distributed between each phase and a 4'th 'common' phase. The 4 wire system is intrinsically a bit safer since the common phase can also be made electrically neutral (ground). Doug

Q: OK - I removed my old light switch and can see that there are only 2 wires coming out of the wall to be found - 1 white and 1 black. There are absolutely no other wires that I can see back there. The dimmer switch has 2 black wires and 1 green. I'm really not sure what to do. I tried to connect the 2 black ones to the black one and the green wire to the white wire. I admit this wasn't the smartest thing, but thought I'd try. Got nothing. Any help is super appreciated.: If the 2 wires you refer to ( 1 black 1 white) were connected to the switch you took out , then attach 1 black wire from the dimmer to the black wire in the box and 1 black wire from the dimmer to the white wire in the box. The green wire is always ground and should be attached to either the metal box or if it is a plastic box to the bare wires in the box. If you just have those 2 wires in the electrical box it is known as a switch loop. If it is wired properly the power is coming in on the white wire. and when it is switched to the black wire it sends power to your light. Make your connections using wire nuts. No tape is necessary when it is done correctly. Tape is only used to insulate. Good luck.

Q: function of a fire-wire for backing up data: a firewire is just a port on your computer, mind you they are currently slightly faster then a usb. But what helps do a backup is the program you have on your computer, not the connection to the computer.

Q: first wire change: Depends on how many little kinks he's putting in it. Also depends on how fast he works, if your wire needs a lot of work or a little, and if he already has an idea of what he wants to do or if he's just guessing along the way. It shouldn't take longer for him to make the actual kinks than it does the remove and replace the wire. That's a little more labor intensive and can take about 5-10 minutes for each wire. The whole thing, uninterrupted might last 30-45 minutes.

Q: How do I wire MULTIPLE ones? I checked many sites and yes, I do get schematics, I've seen a billion schematics, but now I don't know how to actually put it together.My big question is, can I just solder two wires running from my 5V + terminal like that? Q: okay my apt building was built in 1975 I am changing my light fixture new from home depot and the ground wire, the black and white wire are basic on the new fixture. I am looking in the case box in my ceiling all I see is a black wire attached to red, and a yellow wire attached to a white wire which then attaches to another two white wires (then gos go's up behind the casing) I am not sure which is the ground here. There is a copper looking wire that is thick, thick it just isnt as malleable as the new ground wire that is on my new light fixture. It seems very difficult to maneuver.. Could this be my ground from the ceiling. It was attached to the mount of the old fixture my a screw.: All wiring is different but the basics remain the same. Before attempting anything please turn off the power. If I have the good picture in my head, there are extension wires added to the black and white this would be done if the wire run though the wall was too short and needed a little extra to get wired properly to a fixture. If I look at the bad picture in my head you have a jump cable attached which is running to a second outlet or light fixture. If the extra wires go back into the ceiling leading somewhere else then it is probably running to a different fixture and this isn't the best way to run electrical. It could potentially overload your circuit. If it has been working for 40 years without a problem you are probably ok, so long as the fixture you're adding is within the same category as the fixture you're removing. The thick copper wire will be your ground wire and should be attached to the box, and to the outlet itself with screws. Good luck with that fixture.

They worked fine, until my friend got in my car, and accidentally dropped something on the adaptor which caused it to malfunction, and bam, my in-car neons (placed up under the dash, near where your feet rest) went out.: wire is wire. If it really is silver then theoretically it should conduct electrcitiy better than copper. But that doesn't really matter much. wire is wire. all it needs to be able to do is carry the electrical current. If wiring truly is your problem, then that will work fine.

Q: What happens when you hook these 2 wires up right along each other?: if you have an rca tv which works with 12 volts.......if the wires not connected to battery...there no problem. if connected to battery....the fuse blows.(close to battery on wire)....if there is no fuse....wires burn...risk of fire....do not forget...every device works with car battery MUST and MUST be eouipped fuse .
