Q:I have a usb hub that is externally powered that stays on 24/7 even when i shut my computer off. It is buried behind by desk so removing the usb power supply manually each time is what im trying to avoid. Is there anyway i can put a switch in the power cable going to it?: Before you attempt this, make sure you have the following items: -Wire strippers -Electrical tape -Two terminal switch -Scissors IMPORTANT! make sure that the cable is unplugged from the computer and the hub before you do this! 1st, cut the cord halfway with the scissors. Next, remove the outer wire insulation from the two new ends you just cut with the wire strippers. Now strip the small colored wires that are now exposed. Then connect the red wire from one half of the cord to a terminal on the switch. Do the same with the other red wire from the other half of the cord and connect it to the other terminal on the switch. Strip the other small wires and connect them back to their appropriate colored wire. Finally, wrap each wire individually with electrical tape, then wrap the entire gap in the cord with it. Now plug the cord in and try it out!

Q:(above question) and can i use a fender strat guitar with this amp instead of a bass? and are there things i should know before using this amp?: The power cable thing could potentially be a serious problem, since it seems the ground wire is lifted or missing. I'd definitely check this with a knowledgeable person if I were you. It may be as simple as changing to another AC power plug and connect the earth/ground wire. Do you need an extra preamp? No. Any combo amp have two amp stages built in: pre- and power amp. Adding and extra preamp is highly unlikely make the sound better. You will probably just add hiss and noise. This is not a great amp for playing guitar, although you won't ruin anything by doing it. Just plug yoiur guitar in and see if you like the sound or not.

You can use it to connect a PCIe x16 card to a PCIe x1 slot but it'll only have one PCIe lane connected, meaning that the interface will only have 1/16th of the bandwidth. That's fine for something like using a graphics card to mine Litecoin but not for gaming. As for powering it, if the card uses a lot of power so has external power connectors like a graphics card then you still need to connect those, if it normally runs without an extra power cable then it'll be fine. You'll notice that most of the reviews there are from people who were building Bitcoin/Litecoin mining rigs. When doing that the graphics cards are working flat out but there's not a lot of data being sent through the interface so a x1 interface is fine, when gaming the interface has to carry a lot more information so this would really slow it down. It would be fine for just providing a way to plug in a cheap graphics card to provide a second display for normal 2D use though but its 3D performance would suffer.
