- for xbox 360 you cant because transfers ALL data that's on the hard drive and once its transferred you will need to re-download the games you have purchased (you wont need to pay again as it acknowledges you have paid for them)
- Q: I have am Energizer PSP charger with a USB cord. I needed to transfer some data from my Acer laptop to my PSP. Couldn't I just use the USB cord that came with the Energizer charger for that? I mean, It is a USB cable after all and its for the PSP.
- If it's just a normal USB cable where one end fits into a computer's USB port and the other end fits into the PSP's USB port(on the top of the PSP)then yes. Just hook it up and try. And if doesn't work nothing will happen. But it will work. I do it all the time. (don't forget that your PSP has to be charged and on. - i dont want to give you wrong information because i dont know what type of program or pc you are using and what works for one might not work for another. i would suggest you do a google search or yahoo. their are many web sites that will give you the information you are seeking; type in the search window this: transfering data from desktop pc to laptop pc. this should help you. you could also try ask your computers help program. hope this helps.
- Q: I realized after the fact that I grabbed an old cable (labeled USB 1.1) and used it at 2.0 speeds! Is it possible I have damaged/corrupted data on the new system now?? (I can't check every single file: as it would take days/weeks). Please advise.
- If you got no error, you just made it slower tranferring. You don't check it by hand, you write a short script: Write a script to perform an md5 checksum on each source/target file. compare the output to make sure they give the same answer. Update: Yes. Many cables are rated low but work fine at higher speed. As long as the copy did not notice an error, you are probably okay. But take a backup, for goodness sake. And have someone write the md5 verifier, it can be written in perl in about 30 minutes.

- the data cable is crap and so is the software. If you have a micro sd memory card then all you need is a card reader for your computer and the memory card adapter. Put the micro sd card in your phone and format it. Then stick it in the micro sd adapter, then put that in the memory reader which goes in your computer. It will be read as a removable drive. Open it and drag all your mp3's into the music folder.
- Q: I just bought a new slim Xbox 360 to replace my original Xbox 360 which recently broke. I would like to transfer the data from my old hard drive to my new Xbox, but I do not have the transfer cable. Is there any way to transfer that data without a transfer cable since my old Xbox is broken?
- The problem with the use a USB thumb drive method is, if your old 360 won't even turn on, or is very unstable, this probably won't work. You can get a transfer cable from Gamestop for about $15, then sell it back to them for a few bucks. Yes it's a ripoff but it beats paying $20 for a new cable. I would strongly recommend using the transfer cable.
