- Q: I ordered this recently only to find that it was just the HDD, no cords whatsoever. I've never had to buy cables for an HDD before, and I'm especially not used to SATA (I didn't make the jump from IDE to SATA until this year.)
- You will need to buy a data transfer cable to connect to the hard drive at one end and onto your motherboard at the other end to carry data to and from the hard drive to your computer. The cable is simply called a SATA cable and they are about 18 inches long or so. They are usually either red, orange, blue or yellow in colour and they are about half an inch wide or so. You can buy them from your local computer store for about $ 4.00 or so Canadian. They do however come with your motherboard (you usually get two of them included in the box when you buy it). For the power end of it you will need to find an empty non-connected Molex connector coming from your power supply unit in the computer. Just simply connect this Molex power supply cable to the hard drive at the back of it where indicated. That is all there is to it. Good luck
- Q: i just bought a cobra radar detector and im a bit of a perfectionist. it bothers me that the power supply cable drags from the windshield across the head unit and into the cigarette lighter. i need ideas on how to hook up the detector because it needs to be plugged in to work but not have the cord out in the open. thanks
- Mount the detector on your sunvisor. Run the power cord fromt eh detector under the edge of the headliner and down the A-pillar next to the windshield (you should be able to remove the plastic over the A-pillar and run the cord behind it.) Cut the cigarette lighter plug off and wire it into the fuse panel to a switched 12v source (something that comes on when the car is cranked)(radio, etc). That will allow the radar detector to power on when the car is cranked and to power off when the car is stopped. I wired all of mine like this and never had any problems with any of them.
- Q: The hard drive is: Western Digital Caviar SE WD3200AAJS 320GB 7200 RPM, I'm getting from Newegg OEM. I know that OEM's don't come with a SATA cable which is fine but where can I find a compatible power cable? If it comes with one already please let me know. Thank you in advance.
- An internal drive would be powered by your power supply. If you don't have any additional SATA power cords in your PC, I believe you can by a 4 prong to SATA converter. Otherwise you may have to look at getting a new power supply for your PC that has more SATA power adapters
- Q: I am thinking about buying a hard drive and a SATA to eSATA cable to get more space to store things but I dont know whether or not the eSATA cable supplies power to the hard drive like a USB port. Do I have to buy a power cable for the hard drive or will it work without one?
- I use an external sata for backup with a usb cable converter the power comes from the usb cable, esata I suspect would be similar unless you are hooking it up with arj45 or something?
- Q: I have a Canon Pixma MP190. Recently moved house and lost chord/cable so left with just printer and USB cable. Please help... I've looked on Canon's website and OKorder. Thank you!
- Hi okorder /
- Q: Which is the best way to prevent damage to the laptop / ac power jack when someone trips on the cable ?Dont ask me to buy a Mac since I already have one. This is for my new PC notebook.
- Purchase a warranty that covers accidental damage. If you don't want to do that, arrange your cables where they can't be tripped on easily.
- Q: 1 or two to use the other ones and its really annoying.. is there something that i can get that can give me more ide cables and also power cables inside the pc as well?
- Absolutely. Firstly, you can put 2 IDE drives on a cable, secondly, you should have 2 IDE ports on your mobo supporting a total of 4 IDE devices. Your sound card shouldn't be takking one of THEM up. If you have the creative labs LiveDrive that is supposed to go to its own connector on the cound card, not to your mobos IDE ports. If you still have more than 4 ide devices you can buy an add on card that will support aother 4 IDE ports from CompUSA. They're between $15-30 I know they are cheap but consider whether your mobo also has serialATA ports built in. They've been comming with for a few years now. You may find its a good time to buy a couple of new hard drives, copy your existing drives over, and move them off the ide ports entirely.
- Q: I need to replace the power cable for my HF M300, but I'm having trouble finding the proper one. Can somebody tell me what it is I need (preferrably at OKorder)? Thanks!
- The power adapter that came in the box is Canon's CA-570. Search for that at OKorder.
- Q: how do i run my power cable wire through the firewall, to my battery in my 1995 Monte carlo?please help?
- Now djp answered this question correctly but after drilling the hole makes sure you put a grommet in the hole to prevent a short
- Q: I am using a Peavey Windsor half-stack that I've had for a little over a year now. It's 300 watts, 120 VAC (whatever that means), and 60 Hz. I lost the power-cable so I bought a new one, but I wanted to make sure there's no risk in using it. I'm pretty sure it's safe but I'd hate to overpower it if that's possible.
- It means that it has 300 watts of power . Thats a lot of power. 120VAC means that you connect it to a regular wall plug. If you can connect it to the amp and the wall socket , you got yourself an amp.
