Q: Does that thin plastic window covering people use during the winter really help any?: Yes it does......and it's a whole lot cheaper than special windows for those who have little money.

Q: what is the difference between acrylic and plastic window vent visors ?: Plastic is a generic term that can apply to many different materials. Acrylic is a specific type of plastic. That said, there are many types of acrylics as well. A common acrylic used in automotive applications would be polymethyl methacrylate, also know under the trade name Plexiglas. Polycarbonates are also commonly used and are sometimes referred to as acrylics but technically they are not acrylics at all. In this application I'd probably prefer a polycarbonate as it would be more durable and less likely to craze with repeated washing. Something sold as acrylic would come second and anything generically referred to as plastic a distant third place.

Q: I need to put plastic on my windows for the winter. It never looks right, and they always pop off during stormy cold winter weather. Any advice?: the shrink plastic works well, but you need super clean, smooth and grease free woodwork to adhere the double sided tape. it does not stick well to bare wood, so you might first have to paint a line of varnish or poly where the tape will go (and let it dry, of course). My 20's bungalow has Original windows, and until I can get some outside storms made, I'm using the shrink wrap. You're only trying to trap a layer of still air between the the outside glass and the room. Caulking around all the window and floor wood work will go a long way to improve the Comfort level of rooms, too.

Q: I have a window that is bigger than the largest piece of plastic i have, is there a way to use 2 pieces like tape them together or something?: Have you looked in home improvement stores for big, wide, heavy duty (thick) pieces of plastic? {usually comes off of a roll) It may be big enough, and being heavier, it will do a better job of preventing heat loss.

Q: 97 Wrangler soft top. I scratched the plastic up and would like to polish it out. Any tips?: use heat to melt it out. use an iron on low turning it up slowly and appling it till it is the right temp to remove the scratch. only works on minor scratches. And could ruin the top if not done right.

Q: I have a Renault Clio authentique 1.2L and it has electric windows....there is a plastic clip attached to the back of the glass that i presume keeps the glass coming up and down at the right angle but it comes up really slowly and some times not at all....i think it has something to do either with the plastic clip or it needs more lubrication.....any help is appreciated. Q: Is there a way you can tint flexible plastic windows in a convertible car?: The best bet is to remove the existing plastic window and replace with material that is factory tinted.

Q: Have very little budget to work with, paid Marshall Construction of Kalamazoo to do the roof, haven't seen him since (Even with the contract), windows are in really poor condition and need to be replaced but don't have the funds to do it (Lost job like everyone else in Michigan). I have almost a zero budget to do this thanks to people like Marshall construction. Any suggestions how to get this 900 sqft home to stay warm without the furnace always working?: Never pay a contractor to do the work before the job is done. If they say they need cash upfront to get the materials, that should be a red flag that they do not have an account anywhere to get supplies. Yes, plastic on the windows helps tremendously if done properly.It keeps the air out. You will notice a big difference.I put an electric blanket on my bed, so I am able to turn the heat way back at night.I always try to wear warm socks and sweats around the house when I am home.If it is real cold outside, I make sure I leave the doors open under my kitchen and bathroom sinks to help the pipes stay warm. Close any outside vents or insulate basement windows.My house is only 900 sq ft also, and my gas budget is $38 a month.Keep warm.

Q: Can you use glass chalk on jeep windows (the plastic ones)?: Only if you want to ruin them

Q: Some dark spots where my stove cover leans on it during cooking (no heat problem) I just don't want to scratch the window.: If heat has burned the plastic, no cleaner will help it. If not, try Plexus. It is what motorcycle riders used to clean their visors and windshields. Lots of car detailers use it to clean plastic windows on convertibles and Jeeps. Find it at any motorcycle dealer. Use with a clean microfiber cloth.
