- Like privacy screen? We have that on one side of our deck. I've also seen what appears to be sheet plastic on entire porches and then they call it a Florida room. Of course I live in FL so that may have something to do with it.

- It varies widely. Most airliners have acrylic windows and consist of multiple (usually three) layers. Acrylic is used for its strength - it's not likely to break, and it can withstand both high and low temperatures. The opaque acrylic is sometimes referred to as plexiglass. Areas requiring more strength, particularly cockpits which are in danger of hail, bird strikes and other dangers are usually multiple layers of acrylic and glass, with heating elements inbetween to keep the glass clear and prevent the formation of ice from obscuring the view. They are also sprayed with chemicals which helps the rain disperse on them and prevent the formation of fog and condensation.

- There are products available for exactly your problem. Search an auto parts retail website. It serves to clean and protect the plastic, and the result is usually decent.

- It doesn't go on the windows. It goes on the window trim or on the wall. Any dirt or grit will cause it to fall down, and you have to really press to make sure it is on well.
- Q: So I drunkenly put my elbow through my friend's passenger window in his jeep wrangler..he's pissed and is demanding $200 for its replacement or he's pressing charges. Yeah, nice friend. 200 dollars sounds like an astronomical amount for a piece of plastic that zips onto your car. Am I getting ripped off?
- You're not getting ripped off... those things are surprisingly expensive.
- Q: I have a 1994 convertible with a plastic rear window, and it has 13 years of dirtiness on that thing. There is a bunch of ugly what I presume are scratches all across teh middle (probably from the folding process).Also, there are little almost transparent white circles (you have to see them from an angle though)... that are also really annoying.Can you identify what those circles are??I've tried meguire's plastx polish...and even some white vinegar distilled in water.Currently, im looking for a more aggressive product.
- Each top is different Mazda Miata for example you can replace just the plastic window. Quit messing around go to the trim shop and have another top put on or a new window sewn in. Trust me that is the only way and when you fold place a towel on the window both sides to protect it from wrinkles and scratches. Convertable tops are good for about 3 to 4 years then the plastic becomes brittle.
