Q:Where can I buy some plastic to put up to my windows for the winter? ?: You can find plastic weatherization kits at your local building materials dealer ( they will appreciate your business more than the boxes and are just as good a deal! ) The easiest kit to use has clear plastic that you tape around your window then you use a hair dryer to shrink it and take the wrinkles out..... Very simple!

Q:Is it ok to recycle these envelops with other white office paper? Or do they belong to the garbage bin?: Those envelops are so frustrating! I separate the plastic from the paper...either cut it out with scissors if ripping it out is too 'messy'. Recycle the envelope and unfortunately add the plastic to the garbage bin. That's what I do anyways. Hope that helps.

Up to this point, I have been tearing out the plastic and throwing just the paper part of the envelope in the recycle. Is that neccessary? To what extent do recycling plants filter what's coming in?: The Consumer Recycling Guide gives the following guidelines for mixed paper but it would be a good idea to check with your district council guidelines before recycling anything. Mixed paper is a catch-all for types of paper not specifically mentioned above. Everything you can imagine from magazines to packaging is acceptable. The paper must still be clean, dry, and free of food, most plastic, wax, and other contamination. Staples are OK. Remove plastic wrap, stickers, product samples, and those pointless membership cards, and most junk mail can be recycled as mixed paper. Due to new technology, plastic window envelopes and staples are generally OK.

Q:I have a plastic windshield that I want to tint, but have run into some problems. I tried getting a tint shop to place a film over it, but the surface was too curved. Is there another method that I can try? Is there any kind of spray or dye? Also, I would like mirror tint. Is that possible? The plastic can flex a little, so it has to be able to withstand that.I don't have to worry about whether or not the tint complies with the law. So, there are no restrictions.: I just would check with a different tint shop. I ran into that issue with my rear window on my car. A few different shops said they couldn't do it because of the size and how curved it was. Bottomline they just didn't want to go through the hassle. I found a shop that was willing and it turned out great. As for the spray tint VHT does make a product called night shades. I've seen it used with mixed results. On something small like taillights it good. But for a a large window you might have issues with consistent coverage. The tint might look blotchy when your done. Once again I would just look at finding a different place to do the tinting for you.

Q:Is plastic on my windows just as good a drapes for the winter?: Depends on where you live. Dry climate? probably will be ok, but why plastic? Humid climate? nope, I wouldn't. Condensation, bugs, etc...

Q:rail that holds window fell, i took apart and see thta two lil plastic white bushings was broken. but cant seem to find it online or at parts store... there really aint many junk yards around here. do i really have to buy a whole door kit to get this fixed????: SUPER GLUE!!! Nah, I'm just kidding. I am fixing to go MacGyver on you though. So you'll need a ball point pen, some Velcro strips, and four washers. If all else fails, if you can't get the specific parts from the dealer ( sometimes they sell them, sometimes they don't), if you can't find a junk yard, or for whatever reason. Take your window out, take apart the pen, cut it to fit through holes in the window, cut some square pieces of the soft Velcro to fit behind the washers(cushion), use some adhesive( a dab of rtv or something) to hold them in place and rivet. I've used this ancient art of the Mexican ways for generations... I now pass this on to you Grass Hopper!! If this doesn't work, get a paper clip, a piece of gum, and a pocket knife, and blow it up... LOL. But seriously give it a try if all else fails. You might end up having to use a combination of different things, but you get the idea.

Q:Can anyone help with a cleaning agent that i could use on the windows to bring them up good, and what should i use on the outside to clean it also: My guess would be vinegar and water.No glass cleaner.

Q:ok i have a corvette 1986 convertible. The car isn't perfect but i love it. the main problem for me is the rear plastic window. It is brown and is not visible at all to the inside for the outside. I need to know if there is any product out there that can go beyond the cleaning of oxidation. i want the window clear again. And yes it has been left outside for about 5 years to face the elements but i was not the first owner so i presume that it has been outside longer. so the question comes down to how do make the window go from brown to clear without buying a new top.: Go to an MG Spares store and ask for GREYGATE!! Its the Rear monitor Polish that all the MGF forum web sites Swear by means of !! I've acquired an MG Midget MGF and and had been told SO oftentimes by way of these guys that that is THE !!! Stuff to make use of. Additionally been advised that BMW spares stores do a very good screenpolish too.
