Q: Last night i cleaned my carpet using a carpet cleaner, and it all seemed to go very well leaving my carpet clean and fluffy, but the following morning when i woke up my carpet was really flat. what did i do wrong? how can i de-flatten the carpet?? could it have been that i didnt properly rinse all the soap from the carpet??
Here's the step to clean your carpet completely and looks new carpet.
Q: I accidentally spilled a little tung oil on a carpet this morning (stubborn cap = messy opening). Knowing that oil finishes can spontaneously combust, what is the safest way for me to clean the spill? Not much was spilled - possibly two teaspoons worth. I absorbed as much as I could with paper towels, and the rest got absorbed by the carpet.
Hang okorder ., to locate a pro near you.
Q: We're moving into an 850-sqft place with all hardwood floors. We are thinking about putting in either rugs or carpet for the WHOLE PLACE (except bathroom and kitchen) because we have a 1 year old who could really use the extra cushion. Which is more cost-efficient? Where can I get quality rugs/carpet at a bargain?
Rugs would be the MOST cost efficient. The more WOOD you leave exposed the more cleanly your place will be for the little one. You need to look for companies in the area that you live in for the best place to purchase.
Q: How to do if there is instant noodles soup on the carpet?
What you can noly do is wash the carpet.
Q: I haven't vacuumed my carpet in over 2 months and its really dirty. I know its disgusting but I hate this flat so much and I rarely come here, just to sleep. My room mate has a vacuum but its a standing up one and I hate those which is why I hate doing it plus my room is small and has a lot of stuff in it (huge walldrobe, dressing table, chest of drawers, bedside table, 2 person sofa, storage boxes, 2 chairs). Anyway we have mice and I put down sticky pad things and I found what I think is silverfish on it so I REALLY want to clean it properly now. Should I buy a carpet cleaner? I heard using vinegar but I'm not sure how. How would you go about cleaning it? should I just vacuum it continuously for like 10 minutes lol? And yes I know its gross but I'm really lazy.... don't judge me =/
I would completely empty the room use a good vacuum to clean it out thoroughly you might want to go over it a few times, if it still seems dirty buy or rent a good carpet cleaner and remember to follow up with a plain water or a low concentrated vinegar solution after shampooing with soap so you do not leave soap residue in the carpet
Q: i'm installng carpet myself and this sort of carpet usually requires the installation of carpet padding underneath. what would happen if i were to lay the carpet without the padding? i'm just trying to cut costs. the floor underneath is some sort of particle wood.
Carpet padding will keep you floors warmer in winter, cooler in summer, protects the back of the carpet from wearing out, makes it more comfortable to walk on bare foot, is a sound barrier, and insect barrier and because it you don't put a pad under the carpet you'll probally void the warranty. Other than that not much
Q: I'm going to remove laminate that's already on it, I was wondering, before installing this carpet, I'm going to have Luna do it since they install it for free.Do I need anything under the carpet/on the floor before they install the carpet?(I heard people put wood or baseboard or something under the carpet, then like some soft pads or something. Anyone have more information?)I really want to get this done right for my home office, thanks.
I don't know much, but I would install some sort of padding under the carpet - the floor people should do it with the installation of the carpet (if you purchase it from them). The company you purchase the carpet from should also know this. Good luck! PS - get a thickness of padding that goes with your carpet - plush carpet may need less padding. One thing things to consider - Is there enough height under my door to fit carpet and padding? (Or will I have to cut the door down?) Also, if you don't have a thin and hard carpet, then you will have to get a plastic-floor thing to roll your chair on (if you have a rolling char).
Q: I am looking for someone to pull the glue down carpet I have on my concrete basement floor off. Also, would install new carpet in for a reasonable price. I will buy all the materials needed. I just need someone to remove and install it. I live in the Piedmont Triad area in North Caroline. Please help.
Removing glue-down or any carpet does not require any special skill, only some amount of strength and the proper tools. You will need a good utility knife with a couple of packs of sturdy replacement blades. You can use the knife to cut thru the carpet, making it into approx 3x3' or 4x4' sections. Then just start pulling the carpet up. Cut one section at a time, remove it then proceed to the next. If any foam is left stuck to the floor, you only need to remove the thick sections. A small amount can be left stuck to the floor since the new carpet and pad, will cover this. You can use a stiff 3-4 wide putty knife to scrape off the foam that's left behind or rent or buy a scraping tool, on a long pole to do the job. I have done it with just a putty knife. Then get some estimates for new carpet and installation. Home D and Lowes offer almost free install.
Q: A lineoleum that we had was ruined by rubber backed rugs, it turned yellow under the rugs and where the swiffer was used.
SWIFFER no carpet might
Q: Okay so yesterday i mixed dawn soap and water together and scrubbed the spots on my floor to get these crusty spots that were left on my carpet from the carpet cleaner. the crusty spots went away but in their place small spots (smaller than the crusty resdue from before.) were left over and they were now sticky! I than tried washing off those spots with anti bacterial wipes which didn't do anythign, i vaccumed my floor twice and today i used a combination of baking soda and vingar to get it ou of my floor. Now i have merely one or two small spots but im aware carpet cleaner is rather toxic and hazardous and so I wanted to ask if it's truly carpet cleaner resdue stuck to my floor or if it's simply the dawn soap that won't come out. Please help for I am rather worried.
Dawn soap is likely the culprit if it's sticky. Dish soap, especially dawn, has heavy sudsing agents in it. If you have an extractor carpet machine, go over it several times with plain water, and it should come out. Don't add any more chemicals to it. You are just adding to the problem. Depending on how strong the soap solution was, you got work ahead of you if you don't have the carpet extractor.
