Q: Im trying to buy a house but it needs a new bathroom room. Im a tight budget with the down payment and everything. Does anyone know cheap bathroom floor ideas?
Linoleum, come in every style imaginable.
Q: My apartment’s bathroom floor is made of some kind of linoleum material that makes it look like a fake hardwood floor. If I use the usual 1 part bleach to 2 parts water on this type of flooring, will it damage the floor?Should I make sure to rinse it off with plenty of water once I do use it?Is there any other type of cleanser that you might recommend?Thank you all in advance!
I wouldn't. Bleach mixtures, unless you take a garden hose to 'em, usually leave a sticky residue. Plus, Bleach is a corrosive, which is why it should only be used minimally. I would recommend a plain ol floor cleaner like Armstrong. Cleans and makes it shine. Without deteriorating your floor.
Q: I have cold concrete floors that we had to remove the carpet & padding from because of water damage. Thinking of replacing with Cork Flooring. Can any one give me feedback as to how you clean it, durability to wear and tear of two large dogs (toe nails) and insulation specs? Thanks, Shany
If you are using it in a room that is prone to water damage, it is not a good idea. If the concrete slab is in the basement it is also not a good idea. Concrete is porous, water from the ground seeps in through capillary action. You should not use cork, bamboo, hardwood or wooden floors over humid slabs, in humid environments or rooms that are prone to water damage. They are organic materials, they soak in water and favor mold growth. They are not very different from carpet. I recommend you pick inorganic and waterproof flooring options, if you don't want to be replacing it several times over the years.
Q: Our builder is suggesting radiant heat floors and I think though I'd like the warm floors; if we have a problem with it, we would have to tear up tile floors. Anybody had experience with this?
All righty then - I'm an installer here in Canada and can positively say that the main issue in service for radiant floor heating lies within the peripferal equipment and not the PEX (infloor) tubing itself. The PEX tubing is polymeric and all manufacturers have at least a 25 year warranty on their tubing. So most service, years after installation, is either with the pumps or boilers, which should be readilly accessable in the basement or mechanical closet. While radiant floor heating does tend to keep floors 'warm', the main objective is to heat the floor mass, which is large, which in turn radiates out to the home. If the heat loss in your home is very small, (i.e. - ultra efficient design and build), the heat input to replace the heat loss may be small enough that a 'warm' floor may not be noticed. You can put ANY floor covering over radiant, even wood, although there are parameters, which need to be met. Also - you need to humidify your home, regardless of what type of heating you have so as not to dry out your hardwood floors or furniture. It's a bit more imperative with hardwood over radiant. If you can, try to get the tubing into a floor pour, or at least over the subfloor. Staple-up works, but by far is the least efficient way to use this system. Please - please - please get a pro to do this work. Not your GC, not his brother-in-law, not your uncle Fred - and typically, not an air conditioning contractor. You need someone who understands the nuances of this type of heating and how it should be installed specific to your situation. Best of luck
Q: i want to replace the old carpet to laminate flooring. can anyone provide me with a step by step guide on how to do this? i have also purchased some underlayment for laminate flooring to go along with the flooring.
Rip up the carpet in small sections and roll them up...carpet is heavy. Get out the knee-pads, a claw-hammer and a pair of plyers. You will need to spend several hours pulling out all the staples and tacks, the 'tackstrips' around the edges and any nails. Use floor leveling compound to level any holes or gaps. Cut and fit the underlayment carefully untill it all lays flat. Take the underlayment out completely and roll glue on the floor with a painters roller and tray. The nail or screw it down thoroughly. Mark the layout carefully on the floor with a pencil. You want to shift it around so that no row ends in less than half a tile. It is like a puzzle. Get the layout right before you start. You may want to measure the room and work it out on paper. Spread the glue with a notched trowel. Do the whole room at once, back-to-front. Lay in all the whole tiles after the glue sets up. Linoleum tiles will cut leasily with a utility knife if you warm them up with a plumbers torch first. When you are done, wipe up any glue squeeze-out with a wet rag before it dries. Start the floor off with a good coat of floor polish for a long life.
Q: How long the floor has just finished playing wax can step on
Half a day can be ah
Q: What brands of laminate flooring in the market is durable and good with competitive pricing?
I think they are called Armstrong. Really good quality, SOOO easy to put in, and lots of choices for colors/textures.
Q: I am looking for a kitchen floor. I do not want ceramic tile and I am leery of hardwood. I was looking at cork flooring and wanted to know if anyone has it in their kitchens and if they like it or not. Is it hard to keep clean?
definitly NOT! they arent very appealing and..... if you spill something on it it won't come off very easily!
Q: What is the best type of bambo flooring ?
Hey Pamela, I am a flooring associate from The Home Depot in the Atlanta area, and I sell a good bit of bamboo flooring in my store, so I know its a good choice for your home. Bamboo flooring comes in different forms, in solid or in planks (not laminate) called engineered flooring. The best way to compare flooring to the ones we sell as well as any other flooring company out there is by doing 2 things. The first is to check the samples that you get from your local home center and make sure to get a rating from the store that you got it from. The Home Depot has a hardness scale we use from 1-5. Most bamboo I have seen is a 3 or more. Solid bamboo will always be thicker than engineered, so remember than when are getting your flooring. Also, solid bamboo typically glues or nails down to the subfloor, where engineered bamboo is easier to install since it floats over the subfloor with a underlayment in between like laminate planks. The second is to get the sample and check out the wood's hardness on the Janka hardness scale. Janka is an internationally known way that measures a floors hardness, so if you see the higher the rating how many pounds per square inch it can handle, then the better the floor you can get. While bamboo is a good flooring, there are other floors that are as durable or even more, so consider that as well. Hope this helps you out, aboveaveragejoe
Q: Floor tile superior products, first-class goods, qualified products What is the difference
1, excellent goods, usually no problem, flatness, color, black spots will not have. Of course, the leak may also be a bit, very little. 2, a level of words, usually a little flawed, or flatness almost, or black spots, or the pattern will be a little lack of what. Half of the first-class products can be used, because the quality control standard control drops very well. Small manufacturers, then, is a group of a number of goods, and this shipment is good, the next batch is not necessarily a. 3, qualified products, then this is usually only two places to sell: 1, processing plants, take the most appropriate processing of qualified goods, but the lowest price, and then the problem is not the largest, with not many. 2, half of the requirements of very low places, such as: plant, rural. Qualified product missing angle is very common, what other problems needless to say. How many will be, size only.
