Q: I have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee v8 4.7L it has a stuck valve making knocking noises my question is can i still drive it !? or is too dangerous
For 1 how do you know it has a stuck valve , if you know that you know how to get it unstuck (pb-blaster ) or something like that , or is it carbon holding it open if it is you will need to pull the head becouse the head of the valve will come off and damage the piston and the block , good luck.30 years exp on cars and big trucks
Q: I somehow lost the valve cap to one of my tires. Do stores sell replacement caps? If so, would a place like Sears or VIP be a good place to look? If not, would a bike tire valve cap work?In the mean time, i took a cap off the fullest tire to put on this one(the lowest) was that good or bad idea?

Q: The shutoff valve for the hot water under my bathroom sink has a very tiny leak. It is coming from where the turn knob meets the valve. So long as the valve is either all the way open or all the way closed, all I get is a single drop every couple seconds. But if it is anywhere in-between, it is a pretty steady drip. What's the simple/quick fix for this? Replacing the entire shutoff valve is probably not an option because it is an apartment complex.
In this case, the terms simple and quick do not apply. What's happening is the valve packing gland is leaking. That's the seal around the valve handle that keeps the valve from doing what it's doing now. The valve needs to be replaced--period! It is actually the simplest and quickest fix for the problem. Of course the water will need to be shut off while it's being replaced. The good news is that a competent plumber can do it in fifteen minutes unless he runs into problems. Then, it can take up to 3/4 hour. Your landlord needs to address this issue.
Q: Carbon keeps building up in the EGR valve. WHY?? and HOW DO I PREVENT IT? The engine is in PERFECT shape otherwise.
I own a shop, and a 4.3 V-6 blazer (94) that did the very same thing as yours. I started running nothing but 93 octane Amoco, or BP gasoline, and the problem has went away. The funny thing is; the gas cost more, but since I run this gas I get much more gas mileage now, so it more than makes up for the difference. I also run STP fuel injector cleaner in it every 3rd tank of gas, and put it in at 3/4 of a tank. Don't use the STP in the white bottle as it is crap! Use the one in the black bottle. You will tell a difference right away. It is important to change the PVC valve every time you change the oil filter, as this will cause it too. My Blazer cranks out about 30 miles per. gallon, and about 20 around town, so it's easy to see the difference. Advance Auto Parts carries a new gasket for the EGR valve that has a screen in it, and that too will help the problem. It might even fix the problem, I'm not sure but it is supposed to stop the problem. Go to their website and look it up. It will be in the listing with the EGR valve. I think it's made by Tomco, but not positive. Glad to help out, good Luck!!!
Q: overrun clutch solenoid valve dtc definitions code P1760
Description The overrun clutch solenoid valve is activated by the TCM in response to signals sent from the park/neutral position (PNP) switch, overdrive control switch, vehicle speed and throttle position Will then be controlled. TCM TERMINALS AND REFERENCE VALUE ON BOARD DIAGNOSIS LOGIC Diagnostic trouble code O/R CLTCH SOL/CIRC with CONSULT-II or P1760 without CONSULT-II is detected when TCM detects an improper voltage drop when it tries to operate the solenoid valve. POSSIBLE CAUSE Check the following items. Harness or connectors (The solenoid circuit is open or shorted.) Overrun clutch solenoid valve DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE CAUTION: Always drive vehicle at a safe speed. NOTE: If DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE has been previously conducted, always turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 5 seconds before conducting the next test. TESTING CONDITION: Always drive vehicle on a level road to improve accuracy of test. After the repair, perform the following procedure to confirm the malfunction is eliminated. WITH CONSULT-II Turn ignition switch ON and select DATA MONITOR mode for `ENGINE with CONSULT-II. Start engine. Accelerate vehicle to a speed of more than 10 km/h (6 MPH) with D position (O/D ON). Release accelerator pedal completely with D position (O/D OFF). WITH GST Follow the procedure With CONSULT-II. WIRING DIAGRAM - AT - ORVCSV Diagnostic Procedure 1: CHECK VALVE RESISTANCE 2: CHECK VALVE OPERATION 3: CHECK POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 4: CHECK DTC 5: CHECK TCM INSPECTION This isn't something you want to do in your driveway. Take it to a decent mechanic and they should have it knocked out in about an hour or less, if it's the same one I'm thinking of.
Q: It seems like the shutoff (stop) valve for the toilet is preventing my toilet tank from filling up for flushing. When I shut the valve, and open again, the water flows into the supply tube that flows into the tank for a few minutes. Afterward, the flow of water stops BEFORE filling the tank as if it lost pressure of water flow.I repeat the above (closing and opening valve) and does the same thing. (There is also no sign of leak...)What can I do? I'm hoping I don't have to call the plumber.
Definitely the tank float valve needs adjusting. Take the tank cover off and look at the water level, should be up pretty high and just below the venting tube. If it's not you need to adjust the valve. One quick and easy way is to bend the rod that is located between the float and the valve. Bend rod down so that the float sits lower in the tank. This should increase the amount of water in the tank. Some valves have a screw to adjust the water level. If this is the case you'll have to screw in one direction to see what the effect is (more or less water in the tank) then make the adjustment you need in the appropriate direction (screw in or out). Not a big deal, you can do it.
Q: Friends,is there anyone know about LinX(Linear Exchage)Valve,how they work.thanks in advance
A valve is a device that regulates the flow of substances (either gases, fluidized solids, slurries, or liquids) by opening, closing, or partially obstructing various passageways. Valves are technically pipe fittings, but usually are discussed separately. Valves are used in a variety of applications including industrial, military, commercial, residential, transportation. Plumbing valves are the most obvious in everyday life, but many more are used. Many valves are controlled manually with a handle attached to the valve stem. If the handle is turned a quarter of a full turn (90°) between operating positions, the valve is called a quarter-turn valve. Butterfly valves, ball valves, and plug valves are often quarter-turn valves. Valves can also be controlled by devices called actuators attached to the stem. They can be electromechanical actuators such as an electric motor or solenoid, pneumatic actuators which are controlled by air pressure, or hydraulic actuators which are controlled by the pressure of a liquid such as oil or water. Actuators can be used for the purposes of automatic control such as in washing machine cycles, remote control such as the use of a centralized control room, or because manual control is too difficult; for example, the valve is huge. Pneumatic actuators and hydraulic actuators need pressurized air or liquid lines to supply the actuator: an inlet line and an outlet line. Pilot valves are valves which are used to control other valves. Pilot valves in the actuator lines control the supply of air or liquid going to the actuators. The fill valve in a commode water tank is a liquid level-actuated valve. When a high water level is reached, a mechanism shuts the valve which fills the tank. In some valve designs, the pressure of the flow fluid itself or pressure difference of the flow fluid between the ports automatically controls flow through the valve. In an open valve, fluid flows in a direction from higher pressure to lower pressure.
Q: and that i need a valve job. what is a valve job, and is it expensive? i have a stock 1.6 SI motor in it, but i want to make my car better and faster, would it be cheaper to buy a new engine? some of the people who want to buy my car say that they would put a B16 vtec in it. what is that, and how much better is it than my engine?
A valve job involves removing the head from the engine, disassembling the head regrinding the valves seats and installing new valve seals guides. new engine vs. valve job? Depends on how many miles are on the original engine. It's seldom a good idea to do only a valve job on a hi mileage engine. Valve job would be cheaper at first, unless you plan on keeping the car for a long time, then a new engine would be a good choice. Maybe the guy was just setting you up to ask for a lower price?
Q: My car has been sputtering and hesitating when I hit the gas. My friend's boyfriend says it is a bad erg valve does that sound right?
i would say fill up with hightest put injector cleaner and run some dry gas. that will clean your injectors and make sure there is no water in the gas. change your fuel filter. check a plug. does it look ok? what year? miles?
Q: what exactly is thc pcv valve and what does it do
Positive Crankcase Ventilation. Added to engines as a emissions control. Actual design function is to suck contaminated fumes from the crankcase back into the combustion chamber to be burned.
