- Q: What is the International Standard or other acceptable calculation or table for determine the air supply of pneumatic actuator in shutdown valve 6 to 24.Desired answer will be air flow in SCFM.Thank you.
- Shut down valves I've worked with haven't had an 'Air Flow' for their operation. For the smaller valves, they consist of diaphragm operated valves either held open or closed by pneumatic pressure. The air supply at 25psi to give a diaphragm holding pressure of 15 psi, is via a solenoid valve which dumps the air pressure to either open or close the valve depending upon its function. (That of isolating a system or relieving pressure). The solenoid is actuated by a signal from the shut-down system, and the valve is a 3-way unit which isolates the supply air and vents the pressure off the diaphragm. Other SDV's in my experience, are operated in a similar way but are much larger and are operated by a pneumatic air cylinder and piston with air supplied at 100 psi. Others encountered are ... MOV's...Motor Operated Valves that can be automatically operated from the shutdown system, or Operated Remotely from a safe distance (ROV's).
- Q: my dad's friend died, and dad had been keeping some valves of his. now we've been left with about 400 valves and i'm going to sell them.my main question is what are they used for? i need to write a description for ebay but have no idea what they're for! anyone know?also, how much should i sell them for? on the box it says 11 shillings, which i worked out as ?1.32, but how much should i sell them for on ebay? there's prices on ebay that are about 50p to ?1.50 for most of them, but some are about ?7 but have no bids at all. how much should i start the bidding at?also, if you could give me any other information that i should put in the description, i would really appretiate it :)they are mainly 'Mullard' valves (the company name) but some are 'MAZDA'thanks! :D
- sound like the needle and seat in the carb is caught open and your new gasoline pump with solid tension is flooding your carb. take carb aside sparkling all passages with carb air purifier and then blow out all holes and passages with compressed air could restore subject.
- Q: Surly Pilots don't just switch the fuel selector valve of mid flight
- Do you know for certain that it was, or are you just repeating unfounded rumors? What's your source for this information?
- Q: I live in Houston (where it hardly EVER freezes during the winter..) This winter it froze and the valve on the sprinkler system flew off and water started shooting straight up. Now that it's getting warmer and I'm going to need the sprinkler.. I have to repair it. Is this an easy fix that I can do myself? Or should I call someone.
- easy.. just dig around the valve a little bit.. unscrew the valve .. and screw new 1 in...removing the dirt is necessary so when the broken valve is removed dirt dont fall into the open pipe... it is probably only about 8 inches deep... and 7 dollars for a new valve
- Q: I don't know exactly what it is called...the water valve from the wall to the toilet is leaking. All of the parts need to be replaced. They appear old and corroded. Can you please tell me what these parts are called? About how much they cost? And is this difficult to do? I found an excellent video on youtube on how to replace..but just want to ask anyway if it's difficult..it doesn't LOOK difficult.
- It's called a shut off valve, costs 6-7 dollars depending where you buy it. You will have to match the size of the valve to the size and type of the pipe coming out of the wall, could be copper or threaded steel pipe. Also replace the line from the valve to the toilet, this will have to be matched to the valve as well. Not a hard job but matching up all these things can be tricky if you don't know what you are looking at. Might be easier to get a handyman or plumber. If you do try it yourself do not forget to turn off the water - might have to turn the whole house off.
- Q: i have a puegeot 306 turbo diesel and apparently removing the EGR valve helps with engine noise and the smokeyness of the car. Is there any downside to removing it?
- The EGR Valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve) aids in warming up the engine to operating Temperature. The engine is designed for maxi mun efficiency and optimum power at a pre determined Temperature. If you are getting alot of engine noise or alot of smoke, the EGR valve isn't the problem. And removing it may improve the condition some, however, your engine has other issues. The downside on removing it from a diesel engine is by lowering the heat generated to the cylinders, you reduce the engines ability to burn all of the fuel. Diesel engine burn the fuel through compression and heat.... not spark. So lowering the cylinder Temperature leaves fuel in the cylinder that is unburnt. It will aid in lubrication to the cylinder but eventually may cause wet stack. The cylinders staying wet with unburnt fuel. Over time, if enough fuel builds up, the engine may experience a hydraulic lock.
- Q: If I buy one of those Presta valve adapters can I just screw it on and leave it on while I ride? Will I lose air pressure at to fast of a rate?
- Nope! I always ride with one screwed onto each tire. The schrader adapter screws over the presta. Always good to have one incase you're near a gas station and may need air.
- Q: need a different pump for? Is this some improvement on the old valve?
- There are schrader valves which are bigger diameter and are used also for automotive tires. They have a spring-loaded center pin that gets pushed down and opened when a inflating head is used. The spring is what keeps the air in the tube. The presta valve is the skinnier one. It does not rely on a spring to keep the valve close. The air pressure inside the tube keeps the valve closed. Generally, less expensive bikes use schraders while better bikes use prestas. All decent pumps have pump heads that accomodate both types. Either it is done by manually reversing the inside of the head assembly to change between presta and schrader or the head automatically adjusts or you use the appropriate one when the head has holes for both.
- Q: 1994 Chevy K1500 P/U 5.7 liter 350 4X4 5 speed. When the truck is under a hard pull the valves start knocking, the knock sensor adjust the timing and the check engine light comes on. The code for the light is not detecting knock sensor. I have changed the pcv valve (which was suggested) and no change. This has went on for about 5 years. Doesn't matter the grade of fuel I use. Routine maintance and tune ups have been done to this truck. The converter was taken off 7 years ago because it was clogged. The truck runs rich after the timing adjust. The light resets itself when it is turned off. ( the code is saved)
- Have you checked or replaced the knock sensor? Its not the valves you're hearing, the engine is pinging due to overadvanced ignition timing. If you've futzed with the distributor, put it back where its supposed to be. Then check the sensor and wiring, which is on the side of the engine block. Use spark plugs with one heat range cooler will help the pinging. And you've got to run at least 2 tanks of high octane before you see the effects. Change vacuum lines, fuel and air filters and O2 sensors as well.
- Q: What exactly is a flow valve for an ice maker on a refrigerator? Any idea what it would cost to replace it? Is it easy to replace?
- Hi, Yeah. The site I found (source) has some pretty good information. Find the model number on the refrigerator and call repair services. You may need to replace a part. If there is no water flow, maybe something is clogging the line and it can be cleaned. With today's economy prices are difficult to predict. PJ
