Q:So I just got mu egr valve on my car replaced a year ago. Now it needs replacing again!? why might this be? shouldnt it last longer?
Just because you have an EGR fault, doesn't mean it needs an EGR valve. A qualified shop will be able to test an EGR valve sticking or stuck. If the valve is actuating normally then the passages connecting to the EGR could be blocked, in most cases removal of the intake plenum will be required to clean these passageways. Carbon gets built up and do not allow exhaust gases to flow and when there is a restriction you get a fault code that reads egr insufficient flow. Have a quality repair shop determine if the egr valve is actually to blame, most places like firestone and the like will sell no matter if it needs it or not. Good luck, if you have other questions, edit your question.
Q:I am looking at getting a baritone horn of my own, but am not sure what compensating versus non-compensating valves are?
A compensating valve instrument has valves that send the air through two sets of tubing. For example a double French horn has slides for the F side and the Bb side. In a normal horn the air goes through the F side when you are playing the F side and the Bb side when you are playing that side. In a compensating horn when you play the F side the air goes through both sets of slides. It's a way of making the horn lighter and simpler.
Q:need a different pump for? Is this some improvement on the old valve?
Dita is correct. You do not need a new pump. Most of the new ones (ones you'd find at a bike shop, probably not Wal Mart pumps), will handle both. The newest ones have a smart head where you just plug in the valve, flip the lever, and the pump figures out which valve stem you have. On slightly older pumps, it is a matter of switching the pump head internals around. On the really old pumps (or really cheap ones), you need a brass or alloy adapter that threads onto the presta valve and converts it to schrader. The schrader valve uses a spring to close the valve to prevent air loss. Presta uses the air pressure itself to seal the valve.
Q:what is the purpose of valves such as: gate valve, foot valve and globe valve in the industry?
the valves control the flow
Q:I got a new gas stove, but I can't find a shut off valve to take the old one out and put the new one in. There isnt one behind the stove on the line, and i went under the house and followed the gasline and didnt find one down there either. Can any one give me ideas where else to look?
Do you have a meter some where outside of the house? The shut off valve is usually real close to that. It is the type that you have to take a wrench to turn it off. I'm not trying to insult you I'm just trying to help. There will be a narrow bar on it and it will be pointing parallel to the pipe at that point. You will have to use a crescent wrench and turn it 1/4 turn until it is cross ways to the pipe. Good Luck
Q:I have presta valves on my mountain bike now and only Presta valves can fit through the hole in the rim where the valve goes. If i want to start using Shrader valve tubes, because they are way more common and i can get them at Walmart, is it ok if i bore out the hole in my rim in order to get the Shrader valve to fit
You can get tubes with presta valves at places like Nashbar or Performance for about what schrader's cost at Walmart. Besides, the one time I got a tube at Walmart was a disaster. It split down a seam when I was 15 miles from home. Completely unpatchable, and I couldn't get anyone on the phone. A long walk. DON'T DRILL YOUR RIM. It would probably be OK, but you don't want to chance a weak spot on such an important part of your bike.
Q:Where is the Auxiliary Air Valve on my 98 Civic?I have a 98 Honda Civic ex and need to change the Auxiliary Air Valve
l was told by a mechanic that I had a bad auxiliary valve and I would cost $1200.00 I can t find information on such a thing. Douglas
Q:i have an old 79 malibu and its only got a 267 in it. I wouldnt buy new valve covers because its not worth it to me but i was thinking i could clean the ones i got up a little bit. i was thinking of painting them. What kind of paint should i use? and one other thing is the gaskets. I figure while i have them pulled off i should put new gaskets on. I read up about getting all the old stuff off but i was curious still about it. I was just looking at some average ones made of cork for 10 bucks. Do i lay the sealer downthen put the gasket on , then put the valve cover on?
the best thing i could tell you is clean them good and when you put the gasket on dosent matter if its cork or not, but the silicon ones are better, is that to make sure that the mounting surface's are clean. and have no oil on them otherwise your gonna have a leak. as for the pain clean em good and it really dont matter which paint
Q:What are the types of control valves used in the oil industry and how are they applied.
There are other manual control valves and on/off automatic valves that are used a various places for remote or emergency control. These can be globe, gate, ball, plug or butterfly valves. They can be actuated by pneumatics, hydraulics or electric power.
Q:I bought a plastic ball valve from Lowe's just a couple days ago and it is stuck, I haven't installed it in anything but it wont budge without a pair of channel locks. I tried wd-40 but still nothing, should I return it or keep working with it? and if I keep working what should I try?
=== take it back and get another valve .... if it doesn't work freely in your hand then the valve will be a problem if you install it ---- working with pvc you should use the purple glue that is waterproof and it is a good seal and no leaks when you have
