Q: so do v-6 engines mean 6 cylinders right?, but what are valves? sometimes they are like double the cylinders (12 valve v6). what do they do, and cars that have like 2.5L does that mean how much fuel is injected and does more mean more power?on a side note, what kind of engine is the evo x? is it 4 cylinder? but has really good technology in it and is that how it has such high bhp?also if anyone knows, i kinda know what torque is but can someone explain in laymen terms? does more=better?
Yes v6 means 6 cylinders (pistons). Each pistons need to have gas come in and out and so the valves open and close to do exactly that (breath). There are at least 2 valves per piston - one (set) for exhaust and another for intake. Sometime to make it breath easier, there are 2 valves on each set. The 2.5L mean 2.5 liters (the measurement of the pistons) or basically the engine. The larger the displacement the more powerful (theoretically). Of course the larger the displacement the more fuel need to be injected. The exception is TURBO charged engines which stuff extra air (and extra fuel) so even a small engine take more fuel than equal non-turbo engie. The Evo uses much more than high tech engine to be that good. Besides being powerful, it uses the computer to divide the power to all 4 wheels in such a way to keep the car pulling even in a hard turn. === The TORQUE is the actual measure of engine power. Q: I have a 3-circuit sprinkler system in my yard (built by me, last year). I discovered this week that I overtightened the connection between the valves and the downstream pipes, and 2 of the three valves are cracked, and leaking, at the connection. I replaced all 3 valves, and now I need to reconnect them to the supply. But this means I'm working backward - when I bult the system last year, I worked downstream - I built the manifold first, connected the valves, then the remainder of each branch. Now, I have to make the new manifold fit the valves, and naturally, they don't line up perfectly. Any tips/tricks on connecting valves in this situation? Is there such a thing as flexible pipe that can withstand continuous pressure? I'm using unions at both ends of each valve to help things go together/come apart more easily.
valve manifolds are something that requires practice and experience. i used to struggle with them at work until i did a good bit of them. 3 zones is not that many valves so it shouldnt be too difficult. if they wont line up exactly right, i would recommend adding longer peices of pipe to the mainline side of the vavles and re routing the supply line futher back and you will have more room to flex the pipe and vavles into the Tees and 90s. do not use any form of flexible pipe on any mainline. you will regret it. lol the bigger the hole you dig will give you the most room and the more pipe, and room will give you more flexability to build the manifold. it is easier to connect the valves the way you did it first though, but you can do it either way. good luck and hope this helps
Q: I have replaced the rubber washer in the valve and when I pull up on the float arm everything seems to stop then shortly thereafter air bubbles start coming out of the bottom of the fill tube. How could air be getting thru the valve without water which would cause the shutoff valve to tighten?

Q: 1990 Pontiac Sunbird, I took a piece of hose going to the egr valve to try and see if it is working properly, but with car off, I can suck through, and blow out into hose going to egr valve, and it doesn't seem like there's any seal stopping air flow either way...is it supposed to, or what is this supposed to do?

Q: Does the new valve get glued or anything or do I just put it on tightly? I cannot tell if the existing valve is glued on or not.
If the old valve is plastic it may be glued . It is probably chrome plated brass and could be a compression type which most plumbers I know don't use on cpvc but on copper. there may be a male iron pipe thread adaptor (mip) you would need a backup wrench and unscrew the fitting. You may have a sharkbite fitting , with this you need a special tool to remove the fitting, once you have this tool figured out it is real simple to use. it is a type of slip compression fitting a pic may help us to identify it As long as it has a compression nut use a backup wrench and unscrew it and make sure the nut on the new valve will fit the old valve as some brands use an odball thread and that the debth of the protruding pipe is not to long so the new valve will seat against the compresion ring. and of course make sure the water main is off and the water is drainded as best you can.
Q: When you regulate flow with a valve in a fluid circuit, obviously the flow changes. But mathematically, it changes in function to what? the minimum cross-sectional area? I mean it has to have something to do with some integral of sth (since a valve can change the cross-sectional area of a portion of the tube with length of almost zero and the flow would still change dramatically). I have no idea how to work this through.
