Q: I have a VOX Valvetronix amp and my idiot older brother has misplaced the the power cord to it. Where is the best place to find said replacement as well as a guitar jack to plug into the amp itself since that seems to be missing as well. Thanks!: The power cable is just a standard plug. The one in the back of your computer will work. You can find replacements at drug stores, Radio Shack, hardware stores, Best Buy, and of course guitar stores. The instrument cable is a standard 1/4'' jack and the cable is shielded. This you can find at Radio Shack, a guitar store, or Best Buy. Make sure you get an 'instrument' cable. Speaker cable looks similar and will actually work but it's not shielded and you'll get electrical interference messing up your signal.

What is it called, and what is the purpose of it?: its a transformer to cut the mains plug voltage down to the same voltage as the battery which will be around 16volts to 20 volts for a laptop,the desktop PC will have the same transformer built into the tower casing beside the fan,but you just cannot see it, and there will be a voltage selector switch for the country you are using it in ie-UK =220-240volts, USA=110 volts or similar,both the laptops and desktops use the same internal operating low voltages,and mains voltage would fry everything inside ,that's why they are fitted with the transformers.

Q: Hi,I have this Corsair TX 750W PSU and one of the cable have 3 x4pins connectors on it. i use one of the 4pins connector on this cable to power 6 fans on my case and the other two 4pins connectors i use one to connect to two ssd drives and other connector to the IDE 1.5TB hdd. do you think that this single cable is under stress to power up all 9 items? is there rule about psu cable? i am asking this because i thought maybe the psu is affecting my gtx 670 sli performance. i get P11000 score and X5006 using 3dmark 11. so it is a bit low. i should get arouynd P16000+.i have i7 2600k @ 4.5ghz w HT and pc3200 16GB. i hope someone can point out the low score issue and power supply cable question.. i am currently running drivers 320.49: A computer power supply is really several supplies in the same box. The specs will tell you if those 4-pin connectors all go to the same place. The outputs for the graphics card come from a different source than those 4-pin Molex connectors so those aren't going to affect performance. You would have to add up the current draw for all of the fans and the drives to know if the power supply is being overloaded. The fans have the current draw printed on them so write them down and add them up. But if you are paranoid, open the case and disconnect the case fans. Also disconnect the drives you aren't using. SSD's don't draw nearly as much power as a HDD so try to disconnect the hard drive if you can. Then run the test again and it should be exactly the same.

Q: The other day I found an imac g5 17computer in my alley. It probably doesn't work but I was just curious about what cables/accessories I need for it. All that was out there was the actual monitor/desktop. There were no cables with it. Find a power cable (any old computer power cable will work) and see if it even powers on and does anything first. Crack it open. Set it on its face, then undo the three screws across the bottom. They do NOT come out. They only loosen up until you can't turn them anymore. The back pops off. Look for any swollen or leaking capacitors. If you find any, then it's junk. If you don't, then see if there's any RAM in it. If not, toss some PC3200 DDR RAM in there and see if you get anything.

Q: power cables for 3 phase wire: Three wire, single phase, 120V uses: line (usually black), neutral (always white), and ground (green or green with yellow stripe). Three wire extension cords should be sized for the estimated load in Watts, and the length of the cord. Armored cable for interior wiring must be #AWG14 minimum. Add details for a better answer.
