Q: What is the best brand of wire to use for getting power to my amp?
Need info on the amp to make that call. ONe thing is for sure monster cable is a huge rip off and 10 gauge wire is not thick enough for an amp power cable. For around 800 watts or less 8 gauge will be good enough. The thicker the wire the better the performance. Almost all wire is essentially the same, its the gauge that is important. (0 is thickest, 10 thinner, 20 even thinner etc.) Good Luck
Q: I have a water valve that I need to connect but I don't know how to read this diagram. I'm unsure how to connect the wires to the cold and hot valve. I have four wires that need to be connected. A pair of white caps with one blue wire and one orange; and a pair of black caps with one blue wire and one yellow wire. Sorry if this sounds confusing but I have no idea how to explain it well. Thanks!
blue and yellow for cold valve one, blue and orange for cold valve 2, the hot valve would be blue and brown.
Q: I am trying to hook up my motorcycle turn signals but am having trouble with the wiring. Off of each signal stem comes a red wire (positve) and black wire (negative). Then coming form my bike I have a purple wire, blue wire, and green wire. I was messing around with the connections and was able to get all my signals to light up, but not in the fashion i need, like blinking correctly. Any suggestions? Do I need to split the wires? Does one wire go to the left signal and one to the right?
Does the flasher work? Are you using two filament bulbs? The green wire is a ground. The blue and purple sound like HD wiring, one is for blinkers, and one for running lights.
Q: ok i bought a cd player off of OKorder a couple weeks ago and i decided to save the money and do it myself, but me and my friends didnt get a connector for it so we decided to go old school and wire every wire, and now the problem is we dont know what wire goes with what. so i need a accurate wiring diagram of a 2002 v6 hyundai sonata, (car wires first) i hook the black with black for ground, orange with yellow for battery( which there is two oranges so i tried both and together) and yellow with red for accessory just to see if the cd player will turn on and it doesnt, so i need some help pretty bad, and i have checked the fuses ( audio one) any answer will be greatly appreciated,

Q: I have two ceiling lights in my kitchen that come into the same wiring box (light switch). It's a single light switch that controls both lights. I want to install a two fixture light switch so that I can turn on each light by itself. It looks like there are only two wires coming into the box...a black one and a white one (and a ground wire). The two-switch I bought is requiring three wires though. How do I wire this thing?
=== you are going to have to rewire the lights to have the new switch operate each fixture independently == that is how it will work ... it is the only way to do what you want done .... at the present there is one pair of wires that operate both fixtures
Q: Ok I've been changing the old outlets in the house and all of them were fine until I got to this 1 outlet. The outlet had 1 ground wire, 2 white and 2 black (if that helps). The wires were a little chewed up looking so when I went to wrap the upper white wire to its screw it broke and now the wire won't reach the screw and certain lights in the house won't turn on because of it. I probably should have left it alone because of the condition of the wires but its too late now so how do I go about getting the wire to reach its screw ? Thanks
The white wire can have a 6 inch* pigtail extension attached to it at the same you spice them together with a wire nut or crimp followed by taping. I'm wondering about the two hot wires though. You didn't say if they too broke apart or were connected separately to the old outlet. If they broke, the same thing can be done for them as you would the white (common) wires. If one half of the old outlet was isolated to respond to a light switch, there's a small break off piece on the outlet that needs to be taken off before you connect them. If you have a meter or a neon tester, it would be good to see which one responds to the switch if you don't know by now. If they were both connected to the outlet without isolation, pigtail them as you did the common and connect one wire only. (The outlet shouldn't be used as the connector between two wires. It wasn't designed for this.) Finally, wrap a couple of turns of tape around the outlet to cover the screws that the wire connects to as it will make further service safer. As most jacks are well marked for polarized hook up, it's hard to see what the writing (if any) is on the back even in good light. Remember the short slot runs hot. Somehow, that's always been the easiest way for me to not forget. *More if you need and there's room in the box. But 6 is standard.
Q: can aluminum wiring catch on fire
If you are referring to the larger aluminum wiring that is commonly found in service entrance wiring, circuits for electric ranges and such, then yes, it is safe and allowed by National Electrical Code. Please note that some jurisdictions do not accept that and do not allow any aluminum wiring. If you are referring to the smaller wires for branch circuits (regular wiring a.k.a. Romex), then you really need to be careful. This wire has been outlawed by the NEC for quite some time. Too many houses burned down because of it (my uncle's is one of them). If you have it, please have a licensed electrician inspect it soon. I cannot tell you if it is 'safe' or not in this forum. You should be looking at having it replaced.
Q: pendant wiring hookup. issue: light is always on house wires: red, white, black, ground pendant wires: green, white, black (and a ground wire to the frame) I did connect red to green, white to white, black to black, ground to ground is connecting the red to green the problem causing the light to be always on? do I just disconnect the red to green to fix?
First of all you need to determine where the switch that controls the box on the ceiling is. It sounds to me as though three conductor wire was used in the event that a ceiling fan might be installed at some future date. Turn off the breaker to that circuit first. Make sure it is off with a circuit tester. Remove the plate from the switch location and unscrew and pull out the switch. There will be a pair of wires ( white black and bare ground ) coming in to the box. This is where power is coming from. There will also be a trio of wires ( black, red and white plus bare ground. Which ever wire from the trio is attached to the switch will determine which hot wire to connect to in the ceiling box. You will attach that to the black wire from the fixture, the white to white and the green to bare ground. If there are two switches in the same box on the wall, choose the one closest to the door, determine wire color, cap the other color wire in the ceiling box with a wire nut and some electrical tape around it. Push it up in to the box first before any of the other wires. Then make the other connections, attach the pendant base to the ceiling box and you're done.
Q: What are those strange ball-like things that are on some electric/telephone wires? I think they're on electric wires. I've always wondered.
Boys that age love autos and autos whilst women people love princesses. make effective that's vivid and vibrant and the pictures/products are sufficiently tremendous that they could see them easily yet heavily isn't waiting to attain up and pull them off (I misplaced some mobiles that way till i got here upon to hold them bigger).
