- Q: I did some research and found that HEPA filters are ideal. I'm just not a vacuum expert, and I don't know which vacuum to use it on. or how.
- Central vac systems as the other posters are talking about are great but hard to install in a house that's already built and expensive. But if you have the funds, it's a great way to go. My favorite of all time vacuum is the Bissell Healthy Home that I have now. It's got the HEPA filter and has a filtering technology similar to Dyson for 1/2 the price. Well made, solidly built unit with a 5 year warranty on it. On sale, you can find them for about $200, regular price is $250. My middle son (grown and on his own) is allergic to cats and we now have 4. I got the Healthy Home and did a really thorough cleaning with it. I was pretty disgusted with what my Hoover Wind Tunnel had been leaving in my carpets. Son came home for a visit a day or so after that. He didn't have near the allergy issues! We regularly use it on the upholstered furniture also. Because I have so many pets, we vacuum about every other day. Regardless of what you get, you need to keep the unit clean. There are washable filters in most units that you rinse out in the sink and let dry and replace. The cleaner the filter, the better job it does. None of the uprights do a really good job on bare floors but there is a way around that. Sears sells a generic bare floor brush that with the adapter included in the package fits right on the extension wand of the Bissell. Your upright is now a canister! Cost $13.00 plus tax. Vacuums are one of those things that you get what you pay for to a point. I wouldn't go cheap even if it has the HEPA filtration but I don't think it's necessary to spend major bucks either. I've seen too many Dyson units come back to the store for issues and have to be sent out for repair. Try telling a lady that the vacuum she spent $500 on a month ago is broken and needs to be sent out for repairs, it's going to take 6 weeks at least and no, she doesn't get a loaner.
- Q: i just started been there for about two weeks and its starting to bug me how they harrass people and try to force the machine on people the manager is not even professionial he walks around cussing and i cant even get any demos let alone sales so should i quit tommorow
- uh yes! go sell cars if you really want to sell something. No one really goes to buy vaccuum cleaners IMO.
- Q: i need 2 get my mum a new vacuum cleaner cuz her other one broke.so if ur selling im buying!(well, it depends what type of vacuum it is and if it works.) and if u r not selling them, do u hav any websites i can go on? thanks!
- You can buy a brand new one at Walmart for less than $150
- Q: Why are vacuum cleaners quiet in the TV adverts?
- They fool us!!!
- Q: how many watts does a vacuum normally use?
- If you mean a vacuum cleaner, it depends on model and manufacturer. I would doubt that most domestic ones use more than 750 watts, though. But there should be a nameplate with that information on it. Now, industrial vacuum cleaners can be a bit bigger and use more power - like hundreds of horsepower.
- Q: I have a Eureka Whirlwind (canister vacuum cleaner). I have probably had it for 4 years or so. Sometimes it quot;spitsout garbage from the canister. Should a vacuum cleaner last only 4 years? Or maybe the belt needs to be changed? Any ideas?
- Sounds like it jsut needs to have some filters changed or perhaps a tune up. Vacuums will not last decades as another person stated, but they should last around 5-10 years if properly maintained. If you have pets it will not last as long since the additional hair will burn out the motor quicker.
- Q: How would you rate the Rainbow vacuum cleaner? Please only responed if you have used it or own one. Thank you.
- Works great - maybe the best. BUT...it is a big hassle! I love the ease and thoroughness of a Dyson ball! Easy to empty, you don't pull it around and it is always ready in a moment's notice! The Dyson does a wonderful job with greater ease. The cost is only a fraction of the Rainbow also. barb
- Q: The batteries dont last. It goes up to 15 mins, max. Is there anyway i can upgrade the batteries? By the way its Electrolux Ergorapido
- when you decide to replace your current handheld vacuum buy a rechargeable Black and Decker. It charges while hanging on the wall and is always ready. Getting a rechargeable will save money in the long term since you will not have to bother with batteries.
- Q: hair cut for long periods of time just to buy a new one???
- Um, I think it's called mental retardation. WHY the hell would you pass up getting primped in the salon just to suck up old pennies and dog pubes off the floor? Jesus, sometimes I wonder about you.
- Q: My Hoover Wind Tunnel canister vacuum cleaner, which I purchased less than two years ago, bit the dust. I took it in to the authorized Hoover repair shoppe, and it will cost more to fix the darn thing than what I paid for it (well over 230 bucks). I bought it because Consumer Reports recommended it. It worked great (when it worked) but I had to take it in to repair the latch which kept the head on the wand and that cost and now this. I read up on the internet and find all sorts of complaints about Hoover, that it is no longer the company that it used to be (since it sold out to Maytag). My question is, what is a great vacuum cleaner that will not break the bank and will last more than two years? I have a dog, four kids with a stay-at-home mother so it needs to be durable, powerful, non-dust emitting, etc. Thank you very much for your input, especially personal experience with what has worked for you. God bless.
