Q: I'm trying to wire a Sony L410X stereo to my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500. I don't want to use a wiring harness, so I'm trying to figure out how to splice the wires together. I don't know how to hook the power wires up correctly. Obviously hooking the speakers up will be easy. I've tried looking at the wiring diagram but it seems like on the stereo system diagram it's positive and negative whereas the truck wiring is not identifying the negative wiring, just 12v+ Constant and 12v+ Switching. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Q: Has anyone tried to use or experiment to use CAT5E wire on a speaker going to Home theater receiver? If none, can you suggest a good speaker wire to use on a speaker.Paradigm Monitor Series and Onkyo TX-SR606 (Speaker and Receiver)
Speaker wire is a big subject that prompts some very heated debates amongst the serious enthusiast crowd. Using CAT5 as speaker cable is typically prompted by way of either one of two ideas: Saving money, or improving performance. I will see the point in saving money in comparison with say hi-Fi speaker cables at $5/ft, however there are flawlessly good OFC copper cables of decent gauge such as seventy nine strand that clearly work out simply as low priced. The opposite drawback with fee saving is that not all CAT5e is created equal. Plenty of the finances stuff from China is copper clad aluminium as an alternative than pure copper. You would not ever choose to run your speakers with aluminium cable, so why take the threat if making use of CAT5e? Efficiency is some thing exclusive. That's very subjective. The reasoning why CAT5e is based on the excessive frequency efficiency of the cable. However in hi-fi world we need current delivery greater than excessive frequency extension. My own view is that CAT5e sounds distinctive adequate to - purchase not necessarily better than - normal OFC 79 strand for many listeners to listen to the trade fairly without problems. Treble and to a lesser measure the bass gets accentuated at the rate of midrange. It's a bit like hitting the Loudness button. The sound has a bit of extra presence at the expense of naturalness. Individually I believe the advantages are doubtful and now not worth the effort. Get a tight gauge OFC that's satisfactory and bendy alternatively than some plaited network cable.
Q: I have an old house and am replacing a dimmer switch in the kitchen. The old switch is has only 2 wires coming out of the switch that are both black. From the wall 2 wires connect to the 2 black wires on the switch, one is black which I have concluded is hot and the other is red, which must be the common wire. My question is that there is a 3rd wired that is pushed into the electrical box that is capped and not being used. This wire is white. I can only assume that would be a ground wire, but why would it be white in color. Can you tell me what the coloring scheme was for wiring old houses? Now I can connect the switch and use only the black and red wire, but would like to ground it properly if possible.
To begin with, don't worry about the white wires tied together in the back of the switch box, that's normal to see in a switch box (outlet boxes are a whole different ball game). The only purpose of a switch (regular or dimmer) is to control the hot (black) side of the circuit that powers the light (or fan or whatever it is). To simplify this for you, just connect one black wire from the switch to the black wire in the box and the other black wire from the switch to the red wire in the box. That will make the connection and your light will work on the dimmer. If there is a green wire on the dimmer switch, connect that to the bare copper wire inside the box. If no green wire, then just screwing the switch to the box will ground it assuming it's a metal box. The metal box should already be properly grounded, you might see a bare copper wire screwed around a terminal inside the box. If the white wire is by itself (or tied in with other white wires) with a wire nut (cap) on it, don't worry about it and don't let it confuse you, it's just an extra wire that's not needed for the switch to work. The only case of where you'll see a white wire connected to a switch is if 14-2 wire was used instead of 14-3 wire (like in your case). 14-2 has a black, white, and bare copper wire. 14-3 has a black, red, white, and bare copper wire. The 14 just means the gauge (thickness) of the wire. And to confuse you even more, another case of seeing a red wire connected to a switch is if the circuit is a 3-way circuit whereas there are 2 or more switches controlling the same light. In your case though, I'm assuming this dimmer switch is the *only* switch controlling your light given your description. Keep in mind, YouTube is a great source for tutorials on doing electrical work if you need it. Just remember to kill the power to the circuit you're working on. Anyway, hope this helps, and good luck.
Q: my dogs have chewed my central air contactor wire.my ac will not cut on. does anyone knows how to replace them and where to buy replacement wires locally( i live in Dallas TX.) i would like to do it myself instead of spending a lot of money.
This should be copper wire and a splice could be made with little risk since the thermostat is a low voltage circuit in most cases. Try the local HVAC contractor for some of the type you need. There are different types ( number of conductors) for different controllers so they need to match. If you just have the HVAC contractor do a fall service on the system they can make the needed repairs and prepare the whole system for the winter. It was probably used a lot this last summer so a service is about due.
Q: What are the advantages and disadvantages of a bank wire transfer ?
Wire transfers on average will run you $15 for domestic and $30 for international. Both representatives from two different banks will process the electronic transfer. Advantage - No physical cash is exchanged. The money will be at another institution the same day. Disadvantage - Fee
Q: The output part of wire plastic and part of wire broken, and the connection lost sometimes, some taps used to wrap up but the connection is still not good. How to fix it permanently?
Get a new one right away, had the same problem and it was actually burning the wiring inside my computer
Q: A toy of 2.8N is suspended by two wires from a horizontal beam. One wire is 40 degrees to the vertical of the beam. The other is at 60 degrees to the beam. What is the tension in each wire?
The horizontal tensions in the two wires must be equal. The vertical tensions must add to 2.8N. Let the tension in the wires be t1 and t2. t1 * sin(40) <== horizontal tension in wire 1 t1 * cos(40) <== vertical tension in wire 1 t2 * sin(60) <== vertical tension in wire 2 t2 * cos(60) <== horizontal tension in wire 2 t1^2 = (horizontal tension in wire 1)^2 + (vertical tension in wire 1)^2 t2^2 = (horizontal tension in wire 2)^2 + (vertical tension in wire 2)^2
Q: If 46 m of nichrome wire is to have a resistance of 12.0 Ω at 20°C, what diameter wire should be used? in mm
Resistance of a wire in Ω R = ρL/A ρ is resistivity of the material in Ω-m L is length in meters A is cross-sectional area in m? A = πr?, r is radius of wire in m resistivity Nichrome 150e-8 Ω-m 12 = (150e-8 Ω-m)(46m)/(πr?) solve for r, which would be the radius of the wire in meters. change to mm, and multiply by 2 to get diameter. .
Q: We are replacing an older style submersible 3 wire well pump with a newer style 3 wire plus ground. I do not know where to ground the green wire? Is it necessary to extend the wire from the pump all the way to the top and ground it there or can i just ground it to the pump itself? Any ideas? First time home owner... trying to save money and not call an electrician (Im an avionics technician so I have some what of an idea what im doing.) Thanks
All wires coming from the pump should terminated in the Pressure Switch box. Take the green wire from the pump and the ground wire from the house, connect them together with a pigtail wire and attach the pigtail wire to the ground screw within the Pressure Switch box.
Q: wiring diagram
I don't believe that such a thing exists. What is your question specifically? Are you installing a remote receiver inline? If so, the wires should be individually labed. Connect the white wire coming from the ceiling to the white wire labeled 'line' or 'to supply'; connect the black wire coming from the ceiling to the black wire labeled 'line' or 'to supply'; connect the green wire from the fan, green wire from the mouth, and the green or bare copper wire coming from the ceiling (if there is one) together; connect the white wire coming from the fan to the white wire labeled 'load' or 'to fan'; connect the black wire coming from the fan to the black wire labeled 'load' or 'to fan'; if you're installing a light kit on this fan, connect the extra wire, which is probably either black with white stripes or red, to the wire labeled 'to light'
