Q: I'm trying to use a stereo wire instead of a mono wire for an output from a circuit I've built. The problem is, the gold wire has been cut too short, and I'd rather not strip it back any further since I don't have a lot of cord to work with. Since there are three wires (red, white, gold - ground) can I use either the red or the white as output, and the remaining color for ground, or do I have to use the gold cable for the ground and let the remaining wire dangle (taped)? Thanks
They're just wires - you can do what you want with them. You run the risk of forgetting that you've ignored the colour coding though!
Q: i have just got a radio from a 2004dodge durango my buddy bought a new radio and i tok his old one, so now i need the wiring diagram to find out what all the wires goo too their are way more wires on thios thing that im use to on stock radios. ive looked it up online and its not the right diagrams the colors dont match up on the wires. ny help pleaseeee
check out the link this is where i always go and always im able to find the car listing im looking for goodluck!
Q: US electrical tech question from a non electrically minded fag. I have a dimmer controlling a light and a single light switch controlling a fan. There is one blue wire going to the dimmer and one blue wire going to the switch. There is one black wire going to a 2nd terminal on the switch, which is also connected to a 2nd wire leading to the 2nd terminal on the dimmer. Now tell me how to wire an outlet into this ******* mess.Inb4 op is a fag, inb4 op should post this somewhere else, inb4 turn the power on and touch the wires, inb4 op can't inb4
If you dont want this to be the last thing you, or someone else who touches a live wire ever does, get an electrician in. They are so worth it. Look up wiring diagrams on line if you are going to go ahead with it anyhow.
Q: When I cross the black wire and ground I get a spark. Isnthis normal?
One you always need a hot wire to operate stuff and to run the circuit. never assume one color wire is the hot wire you never know what someone wired a item or a circuit up with maybe they only had green wire on their truck. I don't care if the wire is red, white, purple, blue , green or black i always to test to see what wires are my hot wires and what wires are line voltage. There are too many people who don't follow code and just wire up stuff how ever they want as long as it works for them. so protect yourself and test everything and wire stuff up right if you don't know how to read a book or get some training like someone else said its not difficult you just have to respect electricity and what it can do.
Q: what gauge wires should i use for my 12'' alpine typr r SWR-1242D?
4 guage amp kit This one is the best SoundQuest SQK0 1/0 Gauge Copper-Clad Aluminum Wiring Kit Technical Details * 1/0 Gauge Power and Grounding Wires * Remote Wire, Speaker wire, and RCA Signal Wires * Fuse Block and Fuse * Various crimp style connectors
Q: I have some salvaged wire from a computer power supply and would like to know it's break-down voltage rating. Most hookup wire is rated at 600 volts but unfortunately, all computer stuff is now made in China. The repair job of a vintage piece of equipment requires wire that can withstand 300 VAC.
Computer power supply cables do not deliver anything like 300 volts, so I would say no, don't risk it.
Q: The wire is to the box
Black wire= hot goes to the the black screw. White wire = neutral goes to the other side. Looking from the plug side, the hot/black wire is the smaller slot The larger slot is the neutral.
Q: Is there anything else I could use to solder things without buying whole long spool of soldering wires? I mean like the wire inside the TV antenna cable from 99c store or nails and etc. ? Something I could use single time.
Are you asking about solder itself, or the wires used to join things together with solder? You can use any wire that meets the current load requirements to put in a jumper wire. does not matter where it comes from. Yes, old TV wires and such can be used to make a jumper. You have to know what current goes through it, if it's a power wire, so it does not overheat or burn up. Otherwise, all signal type wires (analog or digital signals), can use just about any size wire if there is no real heavy current in them. As for Solder, there is no real way to get around that - you have to use solder to fix a soldered connection. Always pre-tin the new wire first (melt solder on wire first, and clean off excess solder). Then heat the connection and wire equally at the same time and touch the solder between the wire, connection and solder tip. The wire has to be hot enough to melt the solder - do not put the solder in the solder gun tip alone, that won't flow properly...
Q: im confused which wires are what, theres two wires...no colors?
There is a difference between the wires. One of the wires should have a ridge along its entire length. This is the neutral (white) wire. The neutral connects to the shells of the sockets and the hot wires to the center. once you peel the two wire apart you will see that one has little ridges that should be the neutral. the other way is to use a ohm or continuity meter. The center part of a light socket is the hot. neutral goes to white the other to black. good luck and i hope that this is a help to you
Q: I have eight speaker wires, I can figure that out on my own. I also have a red/blue stripe, black/red stripe, black/white stripe, and blue. Which ones are the power wires?
I found this online. I can't promise it's 100% correct. best of luck!
