Q: I have DirectWay and have a wireless router. I recently hardwired my computer in because I kept losing signal. The distance between my computer and the router is about 30 ft. But since I hardwired my computer in, it seems slower than when I ran the wireless adapter, i.e downloading videos and music. I was under the impression that wired was faster. What gives????: wired or wireless, you are capable of downloading way faster than whatever the cap is on your internet service

Q: My dog chewed the wiring and i dont know how to re-connect: Lets see, if your dog chewed the wires, he probably did it right at the valves. Here's what you do (depending on how many valves you have) 1. Each valve solenoid has 2 wires coming out of it. Grab one (of the 2- it doesn't matter which) wire from each valve and twist them together. Call this the COMMON wire (usually white). 2. Go to the clock/timer/controller and look to see where the wires are connected. Check to see which color wire is deginated as the COMMON wire (or doesn't have a station number designation) 3. Once you find out which wie is the common, go back to the valves and twist this wire onto your BUNDLE with a wire nut. 4. Connect the remaining wires at each valve to any corresponding wire (on the other end). Make sure that you eventually solidify these connections with waterproof wire connectors. 5. Check the stations at the clock, running individual stations and making sure the correct run-times correspond to the valve assignments- adjust or flip wires at the clock instead of switching wires at the valves.

Q: just need a little help to make right.just wiring an outlet from building to breaker box outside.. which way is the right way to wire it to a breaker then the box. Got the right breaker. Thanks: There are too many rules for safe wiring that you don't even have an inkling about. Connecting to the panel is the simplest part and you ask about that? Hire it done.

Q: my light stopped working ( a chandalier ). It has brown wires, blue wires, red wires, beige wires, and white wires.: Wow, this is a first. most lights have just two wires a black<hot and a white<neutral wire and you just hook black to black using a wire-nut and the same with the white wire and the switch completes the circuit. In some ceiling fans they have blue or brown wires that are also hot to run to the lights at the bottom of the ceiling fans to power that but a chandelier should not have all of that. You might want to call in an electrician for this particular problem because if its a junction box with other wires hooked into that area it could cause a fire or worse a loss of life if you don't know what your doing and disconnect the electricity from the electrical panel by shutting off the power and checking it with a meter. Hope this helps and I would love to see a pic of that chandelier that has that many different color wires!!! wow

Q: I have a duplex box and want to put two recepticles in it. Each have two connector post on each side. How do I wire this.: If it is just a normal receptacle, you should have two silver screws on one side, that is the neutral side. there will be two gold screws on the hot side. hook your white jumper wire to the silver screw and your black to the gold. re peat that on the other end with your other receptacle. of course turn the power off first.

Now if you need both ends to have wire showing take a utility knife firmly place wire on block of wood and lightly cut through the caseing. thats the thick wire that en cases the other wires and peal back and then cut it off. then carefully hold blade of utility knife and wire aganst your thumb on a 45 degrees away from you and pull that will strip the plastic off the wires hope that answers your question dave
