Q: Can you improve a vacuum cleaners suction (with tweeks) or filteration (by adding aditional filter)?
Well if you can you would probably be a pretty good engineer. I would keep any existing filters cleaned regularly and if you are using a bag They tend to have better air flow when first installed(empty). You didn't mention what type or for what purpose. If you are cleaning carpet you need agitation, air flow, and suction. Setting it too low would cut down on air flow. Too high would increase air flow but you would not get the suction down where you need it. You might get some better answers if you add details.
Q: I thought Dyson had a patent on bagless vacuum cleaners but now everybody is copying him. Is it because the patent has now expired and so people can copy it? (as he once sued hoover for copying him but that was a long time ago, around 10 years ago)Thankyou for your help
Are you talking about a broom? I don't think those can be patented.
Q: What are the structural principles of a vacuum cleaner?
All vacuum cleaners are equipped with an assembly brush for cleaning floors and carpets. Suction cleaners are also equipped with a range of cleaning brushes and suction nozzles for cleaning corners, curtains, sofas and crevices
Q: ..... Cheering on an army of vacuum cleaners. I got it from a Jim Morrison poem
LOL being as it came from Jim Morrison are you sure he wasn't talking about people snorting Snow some people have some serious Hoovers stuck in the middle of their faces
Q: I've never had one so any opinion would really help.THANKS...
Pros are what people like about a particular product. Cons are what they do NOT like. I have a Roomba Discovery 4220 (black) I like it very much. I have hardwood floors, as well as carpet. It does very well on both. It runs about 2 hours on a charge the AUTOMATICALLY returns itself to the charger to recharge. You can't get any more convenient than that. Just make sure everything (Clothes, Wires, etc) are off the floor, empty the cannister before each use, and let it go!
Q: Hello, I'm thinking of purchasing Dirt Devil Vision vacuum cleaner that has a HEPA filter. I realize those filters are very expensive....how long do they last? (in terms of years, and in terms of how many times you emptied the cup approx).I'm new to vacuum cleaners, open to suggestions! Thanks! (100-200 price range)
I'm a professional house keeper. NO DIRT DEVIL PRODUCTS!
Q: Hi, I'm looking for an answer from someone who subscribes to consumer reports magazine. When was their last article on vacuum cleaners published? I'm looking for a comprehensive review of vacuums, not one article on a specific model. Thanks for the help
Pop into your local library and see if they have the 2010 Buying Guide that Consumer Reports puts out. That's the last one I remember seeing. However, I will warn you, I was disappointed. They rated Hoover very high and after having two of them and nothing but trouble with no results from Hoover, I went to a Bissell Healthy Home. Now happy as a clam with my vacuum.
Q: My little cousin cries a lot when I turn the vacuum on and the dog runs away barking. Why? Sorry if this was a dumb question, I was just curious.
We had a Golden Retriever who would sit for hours with shot guns going off and never budge. A vacuum cleaner sent her under the bed. We now have a year old Yellow Lab who thinks it's a toy and attacks it and tries to chew it the moment it comes out of the closet. If we want to clean the dog has to be put in another room. I hate vacuum cleaners. They are noisy. But reality says I have to use them now and then. So I guess I'm saying there is no one rule fits all for liking/disliking vacuum cleaners.
Q: Every time I vacuum in my house, my dog comes running over, apparently all excited because I brought out the vacuum cleaner. But then if you bring it within 2 feet of her, she backs away. She always seems half afraid of it, half interested in it. I'm pretty sure a lot of dogs behave strangely when there's a vacuum cleaner around. But why?
usually is excess energy and frustration or fixation. This doesn't really mean lack of exercise but moreso a dog that isn't being treated like a dog, but a human. Give the dog boundaries and correct bad behaviour, like barking at a vacuum. Next time you get the vacuum out, put your dog on a leash. Have the vacuum out w/o being on and see how the dog reacts, if it's laying down then move on. Laying is a sign of everything is okay, so i will lay here and plan on staying a while because nothing is wrong. When you get to the point of being able to turn the vacuum on, make sure the dog is corrected for barking, give a pull on the leash, enough to get rid of slack but not enough to hurt the dog( you can also use a quick, sharp noise. not high pitched just sharp. Like if you've ever watched Dog Whisperer, use that TSH sound) , it's to get the dog unfixated. If you do this, you can't get angry or frustrated or upset. You must be calm, consecutive, and collected. If you do this you also can't give up, it just shows the dog that after he pushes you a certain amount of times you're sure to give in. yew gawt 2 b duh alfalfa dawg doe. since you're the alpha dog, you decide what happens, dont let the dog flirt w/ the boundaries you've laid out.
Q: I have a 700 square foot apartment with carpeting and a cat...
Hoover. Something small yet sporty...maybe in a cherry red model.
