Q: can olifine pile rugs go outdoors?: I've used them on my patio, but have experienced some problems particularly if they are rubber backed. Moisture gets between the backing and the fiber to cause little black spots on the rug which are mildew. If it rains and the rug stays hortizontal for any length of time, it will mold as well. The good news is that both can be removed with DampRid Mold and Mildew Remover (the one for fabrics) and it protects the rug from it happening again with little moisture exposure (not drenching, pouring soaking rain). If I'd have known about this product, I would have sprayed it on first before putting it outside and just picked it up when we have a heavy rain to keep it from molding.

Q: ive melted the carpet by accident and my mums gonna kill me! is there anything i can do!?: this happened to me, i was playing with a lighter (yup, im dumb) and i dropped a burning piece of tissue on the floor and dumped a bunch of water on it and it went out but now there's a big burnt spot and its IN MY MOMS ROOM!!! i know im going to die because i was being stupid, so now im going to try and fix it

Q: i'm installng carpet myself and this sort of carpet usually requires the installation of carpet padding underneath. what would happen if i were to lay the carpet without the padding? i'm just trying to cut costs. the floor underneath is some sort of particle wood.: Steve is right but I want to add 1 thing.. The cost of glue may offset the cost of padding..So why not have the comfort ?Proper stretching is 1 of the most important things in the life of the carpet next to the proper padding.. 5 1/2 # pad is the minimum on most residential type carpet. Check the place your buying it from to check out what will warranty that type of carpet you have bought.. You still may not get any type of warranty if you install it yourself and not a certified installer.. Check which option best fits your needs GL

Q: my carpet it is filthy. it has smelled since the day i moved in a month ago and the bottom of my feet are gray after walking on it. the apartment managers refuse to change it and have told me i can break the lease but i would be penalized. who do i contact to have my carpets tested or confirm that they're not up to standards??: The landlord/management have no obligation to change the carpet. If the carpet is filthy, either ask the management to have it cleaned or rent a carpet cleaning machine and clean it yourself. What are you going to have the carpet tested for ... dirt? A dirty carpet is not a valid reason to break the lease without penalty.

Q: Besides vacuuming, how do you maintain white carpeting? Personally I have found that using a storebought steamer makes my carpets look dingier. A person I knew at one time told me about a dry cleaning method using some kind of powder. She told me she rented the equipment and it only cost about thirty dollars. I've researched this and don't have any idea where to go. Links to more info. would be helpful.: Kirby vacuum with shampooer kit, works miracles on my white carpet.

Q: What material is persian rugs/carpets made of?: Real Persian rugs, wool or wool and silk. Current rugs with Persian designs may be machine made with olefin fiber. Just remember real Persian rugs have not been made since 1935. That's the year Persia became Iran

Q: I installed laminate flooring in our living room this past weekend and where the laminate meets the carpet in our bedroom there is about 1 inch of a height difference.Can someone please tell me how to fix this?: They make transition pieces go to where you purchase the flooring. Tell the clerk what you're doing and he will give you the proper transition pieces. Good luck
