- Q: I had to press 5 different types of leaves from my yard for part of my science project. I put newspaper, then the leaves, then a little more newspaper, then my english textbook, a dictionary, and a gallon of water. I let it sit for a week. My results:Australian bottle tree, Australian willow, kumquat bush, and lemon tree leaves worked perfectly.But... the ficus leaf (still got flattened and everything) is BROWN!What happened?I need to know ASAP so I know if I should try the ficus again or do a different type of leaf. I only have time for one more round of pressing before the project is due!Thanks :)
- Ficus plants are always a problem when pressing. The main reason is that they have latex in their tissues and many of them have relatively thick leaves. Not only do they turn brown (or even black) but the leaves usually drop off the stems. There are a few ways to make good Ficus specimens but the ones I've heard of require alcohol (enough to dip the plants in) and you'd need to be able to apply dry heat to your press for a few days at least. So, if you don't HAVE to have a Ficus, use something else (weed from your lawn would be easiest).

- Q: Hi,Last year I got a garlic press from William Sonoma. I hate it! It is so hard to clean and just smushes the garlic. I want to know, what is a really good garlic press that will give me nice pieces of garlic and will clean very easily?Do you have a website? Do you have a link?Alot of the ones they have out now don't clean up well, ie you can never get the garlic out of the press. - I have a Zyliss that I like. It came w/ a little cleaner thingy to clean the holes out . But normally, I don't bother. I just mash the clvoe on a cutting board w/ a wide knife, then chop finely. Works for whatever a garlic press would be needed for.

- Try okorder / I used Cafe Press for T-shirts for 3 years. In August they had a hefty price increase for t-shirts printed on the front and back. I switched to Zazzle since then. They can print up to 14 inches wide artwork on t-shirts. Cafe Press only does 10 inches wide. Zazzle gives you 10% off if you submit your designs to the market place and another 10% off if you order 12 shirts at a time. I like Zazzle much better than Cafe Press.
- Q: im making the casing for my skirt and the sewing instructions say to press under 5/8 on unnotched edge and then trim to 1/4. so if i mark 5/8 am i supposed to fold up to that line and press or use the line as my fold if you know what im saying. (Btw this is Simplicity or SewSimple 1970 A)

- Yes you can build muscle with just a bench press but I would not recommend only doing the bench press. If you are planning on doing bench press make sure you moderate on days so you can relax your muscles, and new tissue can be built. Try to keep bench press to 2 - 3 days a week max. I highly recommend doing push-ups and sit-ups. They build your body, and even if you can't do many just start out slow. Then add more push-ups and sit-ups to your routine. If your nervous about going to the gym you could also just do the push-ups and sit-ups at your house.
