Stars don't suck things in, although stuff hitting the surface will stick. Q:I can't use brush roll vacuums due to long hair on the carpet which has destroyed other vacuums with brush-rolls. I know Miele Art is one -does anyone know any others? TY.: Every canister vacuum I know of has a way to put a plain floor brush on the end of the wand instead of a beater brush. Shop-vacs also just have plain brushes.

Any ideas would be appreciated.: I own a cleaning service, and what we use are called backpack vacs.You can get them at your local vacuum cleaner store for around $200 on up.You can google backpack vacuum cleaners and see the various models and price range.This type of vacuum has strong suction and its easy to use.This vacuum is for HARD FLOORS ONLY so it doesn't have a brush roller that scratches wood floors like most uprights.My cleaning crews love this vac for vacuuming pet fur. Q:Explain how this fan causes dirt to be picked up by the vacuum cleaner.: When the fan spins, it creates a region of lower than atmospheric pressure behind it and higher pressure ahead of it. The region of lower pressure is open to the area you are cleaning. This reduced pressure causes air (and hopefully what you are trying to pickup) to be pulling into the vacuum and passes through the fan and into bag or bin.

Q:I have the Miele now, and see that Kenmore was top rated by Consumer Reports.: Have used Kenmore for years, also based on C/R ratings. Mine is a cannister; works well on dog fur. As I recall, Miele's biggest problem was initial cost, so if it's working ok, stick with it, but if you NEED to replace it, go with Kenmore. (My sister-in-law, whose kids have asthma, also swears by Kenmore.)
