- Q: im upgrading amps from 200 to 1000 and i was wondering if the cables will restrict the current at all? right now i have a 225 watt cord set
- The first consideration is how much power can your speakers handle without self destructing? My opinion is that few can productively handle more than a couple of hundred, and that would be for very brief peaks. The average listening level in a domestic situation is on the order of a few watts - 10 or less. If you really have speakers that can handle that amount of power, and you want to deliver it efficiently, then you need to keep the 2-way resistance of the wires from the amps to the speakers at less than 10% of the speaker impedance. So for 4 ohm speakers (worst case) you want the line resistance to be below 0.4 ohms. For a 50 ft (100 ft 2-way) cable run, that suggests 16 AWG minimum wire gauge for each speaker. Your existing RCA cables should be OK assuming they only carry low level signals. If your present power service and grounding are on a 15 or 20 Amp branch circuit (US) , and no other heavy appliance loads (refrigerator, washer, airconditioner) are on that branch, then it is OK for the new amps.
- Q: i just bought a cobra radar detector and im a bit of a perfectionist. it bothers me that the power supply cable drags from the windshield across the head unit and into the cigarette lighter. i need ideas on how to hook up the detector because it needs to be plugged in to work but not have the cord out in the open. thanks
- Mount the detector on your sunvisor. Run the power cord fromt eh detector under the edge of the headliner and down the A-pillar next to the windshield (you should be able to remove the plastic over the A-pillar and run the cord behind it.) Cut the cigarette lighter plug off and wire it into the fuse panel to a switched 12v source (something that comes on when the car is cranked)(radio, etc). That will allow the radar detector to power on when the car is cranked and to power off when the car is stopped. I wired all of mine like this and never had any problems with any of them.
- Q: can i use this to power a pcie x16 card in a pcie x1 slot
- That depends on what you mean by 'power'. You can use it to connect a PCIe x16 card to a PCIe x1 slot but it'll only have one PCIe lane connected, meaning that the interface will only have 1/16th of the bandwidth. That's fine for something like using a graphics card to mine Litecoin but not for gaming. As for powering it, if the card uses a lot of power so has external power connectors like a graphics card then you still need to connect those, if it normally runs without an extra power cable then it'll be fine. You'll notice that most of the reviews there are from people who were building Bitcoin/Litecoin mining rigs. When doing that the graphics cards are working flat out but there's not a lot of data being sent through the interface so a x1 interface is fine, when gaming the interface has to carry a lot more information so this would really slow it down. It would be fine for just providing a way to plug in a cheap graphics card to provide a second display for normal 2D use though but its 3D performance would suffer.
- Q: Hi,I have an LED monitor ordered and I wanted to know if it has a power cable. The monitor I ordered is a Samsung S23C350HS 23 Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor. Thank you,
- if it does not come with the POWER cable you can use the one from your old monitor if your going to use two monitors you can use any monitor POWER dord or even a PC power supply cable if its the graphics cable , new should be in box, used you prolly might have to buy one if your PC has it (HDMI port), get HDMI cable
- Q: I have been looking all over the internet for one of the previously stated cords, and I just can't seem to find one. I really don't know much about power cords, but a monitor a friend gave me needs a 12V, 4.0A DC power cable.I would prefer to use a site like newegg, OKorder or cables unlimited (or a large retailer like Walmart).
- You okorder
- Q: I am trying to run the power cable leading to the amplifier in my car but can not seem to find a hole or firewall to pass the wire through. My car is a 91 Toyota Tercel. Please and Thank you
- The Tercel will have a couple of un-used holes that are covered with black solid rubber grommets. You can poke a hole through one with a pen or screw driver and just push the wire through. You should find these holes one the left and right symmetrically, and they will be near half way down, but closer to the top than bottom. If you can't see them, maybe you can feel for them.
- Q: On my PSU I have two PCI-E 6 pin cables. I have looked at the motherboard and saw there is nowhere to plug it in and my motherboard manual says of no slots for it but I do have two PCI-Express slots. Do they plug into the cards themselves or something? How do I use the PCI-E power cables?
- Leave the cables be. In the future if you buy some heavy weight graphis card then you can use these cable. Otherwise leave it be. Tie it up in the comp to let the air flow well.
- Q: power wont tuurn on from my amp there is power in the cables and i checked all fuses and wires there good to go nugga
- check the remote wire
- Q: What is the meaning of YJVVV and VV22-4 * 25 + 16 in electrical appliances?
- 2.5 square copper (green, with the threading tube) theory will be able to withstand about 20A current, consider the pipe, temperature and other factors, so according to the actual can withstand about 3 kilowatts of power. In fact the 2.5MM2 copper wire is generally open 16A can withstand about 3.4 kilowatts of power.
- Q: I cant find the power cable for this CRT monitor I have, But I have this power cable from an LCD monitor. Would it work if I put the LCD monitor power cable in the CRT monitor? Will it fry the CRT if I try?
- Yes u cn use it
