Q:I recently switched to cable tv ,internet telephone. i now have 2 tv converter boxes + modem box(?) on 24/7. i did not have that equipment before.my electric use is up 1.5 kw a day vs last year since the change. at first i blamed it on a warmer summer. but the last few weeks have been mild and the new bill today is still higher.did changing and the new equipment cause the extra electric use ?
look at the back of each device. it will show you a current rating and usage, exmple 45 watts. Add em up Whats strange is that they draw power even when turned off.some even more when off. use a power strip with an on off switch so you can turn them all off when not in use. Turn them all on watch your electric meter spin. Unplug them and watch it spin. The difference is your savings.
Q:I have a yamaha dgx-300 keyboard, and lost the power cable to it about a year ago. Do any stores like circuit city or something carry a power cord that would be compatible with my keyboard?
what type of power cord does it use? if its a regular ac input, you could just use any ac plug with the correct amount of power <-- this isn't the recommended choice, just a posibility.
Q:1) How is the connectivity between 2# of 300AH battery and 200A Power plant made?2) Need to know the cable sizing between battery and power plant.3)calclation to arrive at the sizing of input cables, output cables and charging cables between battery and power plant4) Are charging and discharging paths same in the batttery? ie when load is on battery whether the load current flows through the same cable of charging ?5)A photograph of the system will make me understand the solution better
The battery and power plant statistics do not enter into the calculations. I assume that the load is continuous, and the battery is to be continuously trickle charged. The power plant will have to deliver the load current and battery trickle charging current, at the voltage necessary to charge the battery. You will need to know the load current, the trickle charge current, the distance between the power supply and the battery (or load if you connect directly to it), and the voltage necessary to supply the load and trickle charge the battery. The voltage drop will be the total current multiplied by the total circuit resistance. this resistance will be the sum of the individual conductor resistances. As an equation, this is Voltage drop = total resistance times current in amperes. The total resistance will be the voltage drop divided by the current. Now you know how much resistance you can stand. The National Electrical Code in the US has tables showing the resistances of various sizes of wire, and how much current they are rated to carry. From these, or maybe from you wire supplier, you can find out what size wire you need. It will need to be large enough to supply the voltage and current, and have a rating for at least that much current.
Q:The power cable troughs are divided once and twice
Can be used for overhead, buried and pipeline laying of the cable line
Q:Hi, Whether it will causes any problem the power and speaker in a same path? I dont have a separate path for speakers to mount it in wall. I plan to use the existing path which is used for other electrical items. If i use the same path for electrical wire and speaker wire, it will damage the speaker or will make any short circuit in the electrical line?Thank you.
It should be fine as long as you do not tie wrap the speaker wire directly to the power wiring. Speaker wiring is pretty immune to interference except for in extreme cases. Just run it as far from the power as you can.
Q:I got two mobile GPS units for my car which use a mini USB interface for powering. One of the units didn't come with a cigarette adapter so I am trying to figure out how to power it. Can I just use a normal USB cable? I would tap the red wire into the fuse box in my car, and ground the black wire to the frame. So:-Can a mini USB cable handle 12V for ~5ft-Is that the right way to connect them? Thanks!
no because it will explode it only takes 5 to 4.5 volts and 2 to 2.5 volts i recommend using 5 volts and 2.5 watts bye
Q:How can we make out the physical size of a power cable if the cable is said to be 4 core, 150 sq.mm ??? How will we measure the diameter of this cable ???? please suggest......
A 4core (electrical) cable of that strength is usually built up from quarter circle shaped sectional wires. (Think of a pizza cut into four even pieces.) So, calculate the outside diameter from this point and add 4 times the insulator thickness. Example: 400V 4core cable has very likely 1mm insulator thickness. 150mm? * 4 cores is 600mm? total. By A=PI*d'*d'/4, d' being the diameter without insulator, would be d'=2*sqrt(A/PI)=600mm?/3.1415...=2*sqrt(...? Now, as said above, add the 4 insulator layers, and then you would be at approx. 31.7mm outside diameter.
Q:Have a 480 volts 3 phase 16 amp motor. Need 400 ft of extention cord. Is is OK to use a SOOW 10/4 cable, the voltage drop is 2.67%(12 volts). Machine is powerd by a generator that I can run at 500 volts to counter the voltage drop.8/4 cable cost twice as much, but the voltage drop is 1.7%(8 volts).
The only thing about SOOW is that the insulation is only rated for 600 volts, and the peak voltage of a 480 volt RMS system is 678 Volts. The peak-to-peak voltage is 1386 volts, and two adjacent phases will see a maximum potential difference of almost 800 volts This will be unsafe -- the insulation might breakdown (even though that 600 V is a conservative rating). Two adjacent phase cables will provide for 1200 volts rated total insulation and that is more than the phase-to-phase max of almost 800 volts, so you could take a chance, but I wouldn't recommend it. As for the wire size -- 10 gauge wire is definitely large enough to handle 16 amps. 12-gauge wire would even be sufficient, especially since you can compensate for the voltage loss. But, stick with the 10 gauge anyway, for a larger margin. You need cable that is rated for higher voltage. .
Q:Okay so I'm production manager for a play in Oxford and I need to have a giant cardboard box drop from the ceiling triggered by an actor with a remote control on stage.I've found a rather nice electromagnet which should do the job which is triggered by a 9V battery. The trigger is an IR unit I'm building which finishes with a relay. The question is can I use a sound XLR cable as the wires in my circuit between the battery with the IR unit and the electromagnet?i.e.Electromagnet -----XLR-----gt; battery -------XLR-----gt; IR unitStandard XLR's do have 3 cables in and surely I only need 2 to complete the circuit. The only reason I'm thinking about using XLRs is that I'm not sure of the distance between things yet and I have plenty of XLRs in many different lengths.Any ideas?
Yes, you can use your XLR cables and plugs and connectors for a low power 9VDC application. Before you start doing all this, just make sure how many ohms your electromagnet coil has. If it is below 20 ohms, then you can not use a small 9V battery - you need a larger, more powerful battery, such as a stack of 6 AA cells that would easily deliver 1 A or more.
Q:In the wire and cable factory, will be marked on the wire and cable voltage level, I would like to ask the current market, wire and cable marked on the voltage level which? Such as: BV-450V / 750V. Cable in the order to pay attention to what issues? As well as cable inspection when the attention to what issues? More
The audio line to use a shield of the special line, shielded cable and TV open to the road, the state is 1 to more than the signal line, the outer layer of metal mesh, with this line It will be disturbed.
