Q: Hey guys, my AC tries to start outside it seems, but then i hear a big BEENG sound for like 4 seconds (as if the AC tries to start). Then it stops. I have a digital thermostat and its showing all 8888. I tried to stop the circuit breaker and restart it to no avail. It's the unit outside that seems to be the problem.ANy clue what's going on here and how much it will take to fix it?
It appears like a situation with the burden on the motor to me. The Cap is barely for beginning, you ought to have a initiate winding going undesirable or something is preserving the motor back at startup, or centirfigal change that cuts out Cap is improper.
Q: HOW DO I REPLACE THE AC FAN MOTOR IN A 1993 AUDI 100CS?
Read the service procedure in the Motors and Chiltons auto repair manuals at your local public library.
Q: I have an AC motor (bought from a friend in Mexico, hence the Spanish lingo on the attached images) that I need to be able to run at variable speeds. Is there any way to attach a sort of dimmer-switch style mechanism so that we can adjust the speed at which this motor runs during operation? All help is appreciated!
A dimmer-switch style controller will probably not work with a motor of this size and type. They will work to some extent with fan and centrifugal pump loads, but only with motors that are designed for that type of speed control. Dimmer-switch speed controllers work by reducing the voltage applied to the motor by weakening the motor so that the load slows it down similarly to overloading. As a result, the motor current increases. With a fan or pump load, less torque is required to operate at lower speeds, so that partly compensates for the overloading effect. Even so, the motor tends to generate more internal heat, and needs to be designed to tolerate it. The motor requires a capacitor. Since the connection is not on the nameplate, I assume that the capacitor in internal. It would be inside a housing like the connection box, but probably a separate box or bump on the side of the motor. If the capacitor is designed to be switched off when the motor gets up to speed, the motor can not be operated at reduced speed. If the capacitor is connected all the time, there are variable-frequency controllers that would work, but I think that only one or two manufactures make them for single-phase motors. With single-phase motors, they don't provide enough torque at reduced speeds for any load but a fan or centrifugal pump. PS1: A free online translator gave me “arranque por capacitor” translates to “Start by capacitor.” That pretty much says that this motor is not suitable for any operation below full speed.
Q: How does an electric (AC) motor work?
In the above diagram, you can see two magnets in the motor: The armature (or rotor) is an electromagnet, while the field magnet is a permanent magnet (the field magnet could be an electromagnet as well, but in most small motors it isn't in order to save power).
Q: I understand that a brush-less DC motor must have a controller which generates AC current to drive the unit. My question is; if i bypass the controller and connect the motor directly to a bridge rectifier, will I generate power at a reasonable efficiency. If I used a 24v brush-less DC motor, would I approximately produce power of 24v?Thanks for technical expertise!
There are 2 types of brushless motors. 1 is actually an AC motor, 3- phase, that is driven from an inverter from DC to AC. It is common in such as electric powered models, and varying the AC frequency is used to control speed. Such a motor might be used as an alternator to produce AC electricity. Then there is the brushless DC electronically commutated type motor, common in such as computer cooling fans. They cannot be used as a generator.
Q: If i spin a ac electric motor backwards will it produce electricity?
No, it won't.
Q: I am having this problem on how to incorporate programs in our PIC16F84A project.
Ac Washing Machines
Q: Is it an universal motor which works on ac or dc voltage, how does it work, speed regulation rheostat foot pedal,I mean can someone explain me technically how a sewing machine motor works, and how to connect it back after rewinding, thank you.
Yes it is. The type of motors sewing machines use are electrically noisy.
Q: How do I know whether the motor is a direct current motor or an AC motor?
Generally larger motors are ACThey also have nameplates,If you have a strong practical ability, you can open it and have a lookMost of the passengers with magnet are DC motorsA small motor, some also have a magnet, but the armature is a magnet, stator coilAC motors generally do not have magnets, and stators and rotors are coils
Q: What's the difference between:1) AC motor2) DC motor3) Induction motor4) Permanent magnet motorAnd is there such a thing as a DC induction motor?
An AC motor uses alternating current to provide poles in the armiture of the motor, it is easy to make but hard to reverse unless the leads are run out side the motor such as 3 phase. A DC motor at least in the past has a wire wound armature and in some cases brushes which wear out and require added expense with regard to hard ware to hold the brushes in place. I once saw a wire wound motor that started on AC brushes and then the brushes were centrifically thrown out to run the motor on AC induction but those should be put in a museum. A permanent magnet motor is a motor which uses magnets as poles to turn the motor. A starter motor in your car is a good example of a DC permanent magnet motor. It is because you can develope more horse power with a DC than a AC. And you wouldnt want the girls laughing at your car with an extension cord tail. Which motor you use is determined by the strength needed and of course changing directions and such. Three phase motors reverse easily but the size is prohibitive on something like a hand held drill. Since a induction motor relys on the calapsing field to induce the poles unless the DC is controlled to creat a calapsing field the DC wont work. In this world with electronic controls such as freq drives it is getting easyer to find thease new inventions around. One thing I have noticed is the motors are being rated higher than they should, for example they can advertise a heavy duty 3/4 horse motor when really it is a 1/2 horse that has been modified in some way at the factory. It is legal but Im not sure it is ethical. I hope that helps, Im not an expert by any means.
