- Q: Is it ok to leave the heater in the quot;on positionquot; even after I turn my car off? Will it cause any damage to the blower motor, if every time I turn on my car; the heater turns on automatically because it's in the quot;on positionquot;?
- Yes, it is not getting any power while the car is off.
- Q: Seems like, I need to replace fan motor for my AC unit. Which is the right place to shop? Any suggestions?
- A heating and cooling supplier
- Q: i would like to get one that can be the same model number and everything: this is the one that came off my AC - A.O.
- go to a real supply house with your old motor and fan and start cap and don't leave without the new start cap its needed and cheap.
- Q: easy to understand explanation would be nice
- At the very basics in least then a DC motor uses direct current and an AC motor uses alternating current. DC motors are prone to problems because of the commutator that gets egg shaped when the carbon brushes wear it down and that also wears down the brushes. An AC motor only uses electromotive force but the bearings can wear out as they can in a DC motor. Three phase AC is it most maintenance free.
- Q: I have a 1.5hp 220v 3 phase motor driven band saw. I need to run it on a 220v single phase system. The original single phase converter consisted of a 550uF capacitor supplying the third phase winding with the contacts of an NC relay in series with the capacitor. The coil of the relay is from the supply through a resistor to the third phase winding and dropped out when the motor came up to speed. A second 40uF capacitor is from the supply to the third phase winding and is the only capacitor that remains active when the relay opens up (motor is up to speed). I'm looking for a simpler and more reliable solution, as the present circuit is temper mental and old. Replacing the motor is a last resort. Is there a simpler capacitor type converter that can be designed? The saw is only operated intermittently for 10-15 minutes on time, 30-60 minutes off for an 8 +hour period, for a few days a month. It is used for a meat cutting band saw. Any sources, help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
- Capacitor type converters do tend to be temperamental, but the circuit you have seems to be about as simple as they come. Rotary phase converters are generally considered much better, but are also much more expensive. Another option that may be practical due to the lowering cost of semiconductors, is a is a VFD inverter drive, while the name includes variable frequency you can just as well use it at a fixed speed. Just a couple weeks ago I installed 3 conveyors with singe phase to three phase VDF inverters (albeit wit smaller motor than yours) and they work flawlessly.
- Q: I have a single phase AC motor of 1440 rpm that i can reduce upto 20rpm by gear arrangement pl help me by saying gear sizes.................
- * I presume that you do not want to procure standard Reduction gear box which are normally available in engineering market. Are available in various reduction ratios. * If you intend to built your own reduction gear box then I would suggest to use Worm and Worm gear. You will have to do calculation for determining dimensions, number of teeths, pitch of thread in worm etc Midhat Luqman
- Q: Explain how using a commutator rather than slip rings allows dc rather then ac to be used to drive a motor.
- A coil rotating past a magnetic field generates Alternating Current (AC), so when DC (unidirectional current) is required, it has to be rectified in some way. Slip rings are used to extract electrical power from the armature when the armature is the rotor. There may be 2 for a single phase generator, and 3 or 6 for three phases. A brush makes the stationary contact with the rotating slip ring. Slip rings are a continuous connection between the stationary and the rotating parts of the machine. The alternating voltage from the armature is the output, but this can be converted to DC by using rectifier diodes. Slip rings are also used to feed DC to a rotating field in either an AC or a DC machine. A commutator, like slip rings, provides a connection between the fixed and rotating parts of the machine and is used to extract electrical power from the armature when the armature is the rotor. However the commutator is broken up into segments, so that it can act as a rotating switch. It is arranged so that as the rotor rotates, the connections to the armature coils are reversed just as the voltage being generated is reversed. It is a mechanical rectifier. The AC voltage with current in both directions is converted to DC voltage with current in one direction through the circuit.
- Q: HELLO, I WANT TO CONVERT ABOVE CONFIGURE MOTOR 1440 RPM TO 120 RPM ONLY BY ELECTRICAL OR ELECTRONICS SOLUTION. PLEASE ANY ONE PROVIDE ME SOLUTION AND CIRCUIT DIAGRAM FOR THAT. I DONT WANT VARIABLE SPEED CONTROLLER. I JUST MAKE ONLY ONE CONTROL OF SPEED AT TIME. SO PLEASE GIVE ME LOGIC AND CIRCUIT LOGIC ALSO.
- That is not going to work. It sounds like an induction motor. The speed is controlled by the frequency of the supply. To get a speed less than 1/10 of normal, you would need to generate a frequency less than 5 Hz. If you did that, the efficiency of the motor would be horrible. Even if you managed with that, you would still have problems. Most A.C. single phase motors rated at more than a few tens of watts use a 'centrifugal switch' to disconnect the starting windings when the motor is running. It certainly would not operate at that speed. Your motor would cook. Sorry.
- Q: the difference in construction, what does 1 of them has that the other does not and what does this part adds to it and thanks
- what does 1 of them has that the other does not? usually a simple dc motor has a commutator and an ac motor has slip rings.
- Q: I have an old AC/Heater that started making a squealing noise from the motor. Yesterday the motor finally died. Since I can not afford to buy another unit like this one I would like to replace the motor. Before anyone starts, I do know how to change a motor in an AC. What I don't know and what I am not finding on the internet is what motor would be a suitable replacement for the one in it now. Here are the specs....AC UNIT - Hampton Bay Model BHAC2530ES0MOTOR - Emerson Model K55HXDDM-6791Volt 208-230Amp 2.0PH 1RPM 1100/1000/90010.0 MFD / 370V CapacitorMFG # E96CFrame 48YJust need to know where I can get one like it.
- All great answers,.... all I was gonna say was that Emerson makes a butt load of these motors and a replacement should not be hard to find....
